Chapter 219: Chapter 211: Informing

A certain research institute.

Shitou took the two newly received letters and, without thinking, opened the one with clearly delicate handwriting first, following his usual practice.

It would normally take him less than a minute to read through a dozen or so pages of letter paper before tossing it aside. However, this letter was different. After quickly scanning the content from beginning to end, he returned to the first page and started to read through it again, almost word by word, following the strokes of the pen.

It took nearly an hour before Shitou carefully folded the letter and a delicate wooden box appeared in his hand. He cautiously placed the letter inside it, where there were already quite a few envelopes with letters written in the same handwriting.

After putting the box back into his "little warehouse," Shitou then opened another letter.

Sitting down after reading the letter, he thought of how Xiaoyun had been misunderstood and how this had caused Lu Aiguo great anxiety. He intended to use Lu Yun’s birthday as an occasion to transfer another 30% of the shares to her name, to show the outsiders the importance their family placed on her...

Xiaoyun’s letter, however, touched lightly on the issue and instead repeatedly expressed her unwillingness to accept the 30% shares, asking him not to vote in favor.

Frowning, Shitou thought for a moment, and soon came to a decision. Yet, remembering that December 3rd would be Xiaoyun’s eighteenth birthday and that he inevitably wouldn’t be able to return, he sighed.

He took out paper and pen and began to reply to the letters one by one.

Capital City.

Lu Aiguo and Xia Yuan personally drove to the airport to pick up Lu Erbo and his wife and took them back.

On the way, after settling into the back seat of Lu Aiguo’s car, Lu Erbo’s wife finally couldn’t hold back, "You had someone pick us up in Haicheng, then immediately sent us to the airport for a flight to Capital City. What is so urgent that you needed us to come here?"

"No rush, don’t you see the kid driving? We’re not short on time, wait till we get home to ask," Lu Erbo said as he gazed out the window, the car moving smoothly along the highway. He shook his head, stopping his wife from asking further, fearing Lu Aiguo might get distracted while driving and cause an accident.

Coming to her senses as she looked out the car window, Lu Erbo’s wife consciously kept silent.

"It’s alright, I’m always careful when driving..." Lu Aiguo began to slowly recount the "story" that they had prepared earlier, all while expertly driving.

He started from their early entrepreneurial days in Haicheng, and how Lu Yun "accidentally" met her "mysterious mentor." He claimed the machines for making fried potato chips and the solar panels were brought by Lu Yun’s mentor.

He then mentioned the formula for ’Huayan’ and the Body Strengthening Elixir they had secretly administered to everyone, and how after Lu Yun mastered her craft and was able to produce the Elixir independently, her mentor no longer appeared...

While Lu Aiguo was talking about these things, Xia Yuan remained silent. She quietly erected a Psychic Power Barrier inside the car to ensure that what Lu Aiguo said would not leak outside and be accidentally overheard by passengers in passing vehicles.

Finally, after finishing the first part, Lu Aiguo couldn’t help but wipe the non-existent sweat from his forehead, feeling both guilt and helplessness.

If he could, he truly did not want to deceive his own parents, but what other choice did he have? The secret of Xiaoyun’s big warehouse and their three little warehouses absolutely could not be known by one more person. Even Lu Jinsheng only learned the techniques of Psychic Power Cultivation; the Space Stone was not absent, but after discussing it among themselves, they decided it was unnecessary to bring out anything else.

Perhaps, after his parents tried out the elixir bath, they could test whether they had a natural talent for spiritual power. If they did, letting them know about it wouldn’t matter anymore.

Lu Erbo and his wife were gaping at the two people in front of them, momentarily at a complete loss for words.

Lu Aiguo and Xia Yuan remained silent as well, the car continuing to speed down the road, the cabin eerily quiet.

Lu Erbo’s gaze lingered on Lu Aiguo’s back, sighing inwardly. He had harbored doubts since the day Lu Aiguo brought out those machines, and when ’Huayan’ turned into Lu Family’s exclusive business and made a fortune, his suspicions only grew...

It turned out all of this was thanks to the mysterious mentor of Lu Yun. That explained everything, but it also deepened Lu Erbo’s confusion.

"No wonder all of us have been getting more vigorous with each passing year, becoming ever more hale and hearty. These past few years, we haven’t even had a cold, a fever, or a cough. But if you chose to hide this from us at the beginning, it certainly must be something to be kept secret, so why are you suddenly telling us now? Has something happened?"

Exactly. They had been kept in the dark for so many years, so why were they now suddenly choosing to disclose it?

Lu Erbo’s wife also felt confused, and inevitably, anxiety started to rise as she quietly waited for an answer.

Lu Aiguo glanced at Xia Yuan with the corner of his eye.

With understanding, Xia Yuan said to Lu Erbo and his wife, "There’s been no incident, it’s just that considering you’re both getting on in years, we thought about offering you a longevity-extending medicinal bath."

"A longevity-extending medicinal bath?" Lu Erbo and his wife exclaimed, looking at each other and murmuring in disbelief. What kind of medicine could be so powerful?

Consequently, they couldn’t help but become extremely anxious, instantly realizing why their son and daughter-in-law had hidden it from them for so many years.

The Elixirs they had unwittingly used before were tempting enough, but a medicinal bath that could extend one’s life...

An innocent man harbors no guilt, but he does when in possession of a precious jade.

Such a thing? Surely they, ordinary people, couldn’t protect it. If anything went wrong, it could lead to a disaster that would wipe out the entire family.

Beads of sweat formed on Lu Erbo’s forehead. "Who else knows about this?" he asked.

His wife’s face paled as well, clearly having had a similar thought. Having gone through far more in their lives than Lu Aiguo and Xia Yuan, they had seen the darker side of human nature, something the younger couple, who grew up in a peaceful era, couldn’t begin to comprehend.

"Shitou and Jinsheng know as well," Xia Yuan said, her voice subconsciously lowering as she noticed their disconcerting expressions. Even without psychic power, the aura emitting from Lu Erbo demanded attention.

"How could you tell Jinsheng? He’s young, what if he carelessly lets it slip when he’s outside?"

Lu Erbo’s wife was frantic, "Even we shouldn’t know. And as for Shitou, people’s hearts change, especially when faced with such huge benefits. Who knows when..."

Lu Erbo looked at the couple with a grave expression, clearly agreeing with his wife’s words.

This was the first time Xia Yuan and Lu Aiguo had seen the old couple like this, and they were both momentarily stunned.

"Let’s not talk about this anymore. Aiguo, find a quiet spot to pull over, and we’ll talk it over before returning home." Seeing the increasing traffic on the road, Lu Erbo said solemnly.
