Xia Yuan then looked at Shitou and began to scold him, "Didn’t we agree that we would all clean up together? How could you finish everything by yourself without feeling tired?"

However, Lu Aiguo was very pleased with Shitou’s performance.

He had always harbored the attitude that anything that could spare his daughter-in-law from fatigue was good. So, hearing this, he vigorously patted Shitou on the shoulder, full of praise, "Good job, you’re really getting more capable."

"You too, both cut from the same cloth. Can’t you take it easy when you work? Neither Xiaoyun nor I want to see any of you get tired, right Xiaoyun?"

Lu Yun nodded repeatedly, almost jumping with excitement as she asked, "When are we going to arrange the furniture and move in?"

"In three more days, it will be Sunday. Xiaoyun doesn’t have classes then, how about that day? After we arrange the furniture, Shitou and I can start moving things, and after everything is moved, we can invite my sister and her husband over for a meal next Sunday to celebrate. How does that sound?"

Lu Aiguo thought for a moment and felt that the plan he had outlined was quite reasonable. He then remembered to ask Xia Yuan, "Did you tell the landlord?"

Although Lu Aiguo had previously said that all household matters should be agreed upon by Xia Yuan, she would still mostly ask him for advice on everyday matters, thoroughly maintaining his position as the head of the household in front of Shitou and Lu Yun.

Lu Aiguo appreciated this, but he wasn’t the kind of person who insisted on having the final say and wouldn’t accept others’ suggestions. Gradually, household matters became a matter of somebody making a suggestion, and then everyone discussing it. It was an unspoken rule that for any major decision to be carried out, it had to have unanimous consent.

Even more commendable was that most of the time in the family, Lu Yun’s suggestions weren’t disregarded simply because she was a child.

Moreover, whenever someone encountered something they felt strongly about, especially Lu Yun, as long as she could justify it reasonably, or didn’t want to explain but was visibly persistent, as long as it wasn’t an issue of principle or right and wrong, and was feasible, everyone would usually be willing to compromise.

"I informed him a few days ago that we’re renting until the end of this month. Today is the 19th, so I was thinking that if we can’t finish fixing up the place by the end of the month, we could still start staying in two of the rooms first. I didn’t expect Shitou to be so efficient." After giving Shitou a glance, Xia Yuan couldn’t help but laugh and formally compliment him.

Shitou’s face turned bright red. He buried his head and stuffed a big spoonful of rice into his mouth, embarrassedly moving the corners of his lips, not at all indifferent like when Lu Aiguo praised him.

Lu Yun, giggling, watched him blushing non-stop and mimed a silent compliment for him, "So capable," until Shitou could no longer bear it and rolled his eyes at her. Only then did she shift her mischievous gaze away, feeling as if her "male god" from her former life had indeed fallen from heaven.

Xia Yuan and Lu Aiguo didn’t bother to pay attention to Shitou and Lu Yun, they continued discussing for a while, and Lu Aiguo even got up to find a calendar. They huddled together to pick a suitable day.

After choosing the day, they belatedly realized that during their discussion, Shitou and Lu Yun hadn’t said a word. Xia Yuan then said to them, "Do you two have any different opinions? If not, let’s arrange the new house this Sunday, then ride both bikes back to move stuff on Monday. After we’re done moving, let’s officially start living there, shall we?"

While they could have moved everything stealthily to Lu Yun’s large storage space without anyone noticing, that would be too strange, wouldn’t it? Since they were moving, they should make some obvious noise about it; otherwise, wouldn’t people whisper behind their backs?

"No, no. Mom, doesn’t that mean we still have to wait so many days? I really don’t want to wait that long." As soon as Lu Yun heard they would only officially move in next Monday, she shook her head.

"What can we do then? You have school during these days, and we already made an exception last time to let you take a day off to see the house. Absolutely not this time. From now on, you can’t just casually ask for a day off; studies are more important than anything else."

Thinking that Lu Yun wanted to take the day off again, Xia Yuan immediately vetoed her suggestion.

"I didn’t say I wanted to take a day off," Lu Yun sighed helplessly.

This was the frustration of being a "child"; her time was completely tied up by school, with no personal freedom left. Fortunately, she could retreat into her space and "daydream" while multitasking. Otherwise, wouldn’t she be suffocated?

Lu Yun’s sighing made Xia Yuan, Lu Aiguo, and Shitou burst into laughter.

"Then what would you like to do?" As long as it wasn’t about skipping school, Xia Yuan relaxed and asked patiently with a smile.

"Tomorrow is Thursday. If we get up a bit earlier, the four of us can go to the new house and bring over and set up the solar panels and kitchen stuff, then stay there for lunch and dinner. And in the evening, we come back here to sleep. That way, we can use the time at noon and evening to arrange all the furniture."

Lu Yun excitedly explained her idea, "Then on Friday, Dad and Shitou can bring over the bigger items like the beds, tables, water tanks, and wooden barrels. We could stay over there Friday night. By Sunday, when it’s a day off, we just invite Auntie and Uncle as well as my two cousins to visit the new house and maybe celebrate a bit. Isn’t that nice?"

Everyone was struck by her proposal; this meant they would only have to spend one more night here—indeed, it was an even better plan than Lu Aiguo’s.

"I also think Xiaoyun’s plan is good."

Shitou was the first to vote in favor, "Even if we don’t have enough time for arranging the furniture, and we can’t find pieces that suit our taste immediately, we can always change them gradually later. There’s no rush."

He specifically addressed Xia Yuan and Lu Yun. Lu Aiguo and he himself didn’t have such high demands regarding the furniture arrangement; having a bed to sleep on was enough.

"Makes sense, I agree too," said Lu Aiguo, nodding his head.

"Alright, then it’s settled." Everyone wanted to move as soon as possible, so Xia Yuan had no reason to object.

Luckily, they weren’t dealing with the hassle of selecting an auspicious date yet; otherwise, who knows, they might have had to wait even longer. With this thought, Lu Yun too laughed happily along with everyone else.
