Chapter 110: Chapter 109: Yi Hai Pharmacy
"Do you want to go with Dad to fetch water from the well?"
Patting himself down, Lu Aiguo asked Lu Yun with a smile. Although it was a question, he knew his daughter would definitely want to go.
This morning, when Xia Na came, she brought a bucket over and also led them to see the well. Now that they had a water jar and buckets at home, he and Shitou were definitely going to wash the water jar and then fill it up.
"Let’s go, we can use the cart to push it."
Lu Yun nodded decisively. The water stored in the space car had all been used up last night, and she needed to refill it; the dirty water in those four big bath tubs also needed to be dealt with, and it was best to clean the tubs as well. So, naturally, she had to go.
"Okay."
Lu Aiguo looked at the two additional buckets Lu Yun had brought out, which, together with the two that Gu Tianming had bought, made a total of four. Plus the bucket Xia Na hadn’t taken back yet. Five buckets of water could be transported back in one go with the cart, saving both time and effort.
Hmm, it might be worth considering doing this more often in the future.
The well was really not far from where they lived, just a three- to five-minute walk. Today wasn’t the weekend, and it wasn’t the usual time for water drawing either. There were hardly any people around the well, just a few who lived very close were washing vegetables.
They had not been there long when those washing vegetables left one after another, and finally, there were no more outsiders around the well.
Lu Yun focused her spiritual power to first draw the water out of the four large bath tubs, then she guided well water to clean the tubs. After that, she filled the water storage tank in the car.
As she drew water into the space from the well, her hand was always in contact with the inner wall of the well. Visually, one could see a stream of water rise into the air, swirling directly into the palm of her hand—an effect that could easily lead the uninformed to mistake it for some "divine maneuver." Of course, if someone of the more extreme sort saw it, they might directly label her a "monster" or "demon"...
Lu Aiguo and Shitou stopped what they were doing and, with hearts in their mouths, carefully watched the surroundings.
Fortunately, Lu Yun was quick, but by the time she finished, the water level in the well dropped abruptly by more than a foot, which was visibly noticeable.
On the way back, Lu Aiguo pushed the cart, Shitou steadied the buckets from behind, and Lu Yun followed with a very good mood.
"Ah, it looks like we need to find a suitable place sooner rather than later, and it would be best to have our own well in the yard," Lu Aiguo muttered, feeling quite nervous about his daughter drawing water in broad daylight. If they had to do this every day, it would be terribly distressing.
"We really should hurry up with finding a new house, but to dig our own well, we need to buy the place. Actually, buying a house is better than renting. On your own land, you can do whatever you want without anyone minding. Anyway, we don’t need to open a store for now and we don’t lack the capital. Let’s sell the ginseng first and buy a house."
Shitou whispered to Lu Aiguo, his tone unwaveringly firm.
"But..." Struggle appeared in Lu Aiguo’s eyes.
"Having a suitable home is too important for us right now. Otherwise, whatever we do will be restricted." Shitou couldn’t see the struggle in Lu Aiguo’s eyes, but by listening to his voice, he could easily guess what he was hesitating about.
"...Let me think about it some more," Lu Aiguo wavered more and more but still did not immediately agree. He had always felt the ginseng was Shitou’s alone; if it were used for business, that would be somewhat acceptable, but using it to buy a house for the whole family to live in, that he found a bit hard to accept.
Lu Yun, who had been paying attention to their conversation, helplessly glanced at Shitou, and couldn’t help but rub her forehead.
Shitou chuckled and gave her a calming look.
Based on his understanding of Lu Aiguo, the fact that he could even hesitate meant it was more than halfway there, and the rest didn’t need a push right away; just wait until he thought it through, then a gentle nudge would almost guarantee success.
"Anyway, I think we better sell that ginseng for cash sooner rather than later," Shitou’s steady voice spoke up, and this time Lu Aiguo didn’t hesitate, nodding in agreement, "That’s what I was thinking, shall we go after lunch?"
"Sure."
--
After finishing the noon dumplings, and having asked Xia Na for the location of Haicheng’s most famous Yihai Pharmacy, they didn’t care about the midday heat outside. Lu Aiguo and Shitou hurried out with a big basket on their backs, and Lu Yun insisted on following.
Xia Yuan tried to convince them to wait until after a nap to go out, but without success.
In the end, all three of them had straw hats woven from reeds on their heads before stepping out of the house.
Although none of them had been to Haicheng before, with Xia Yuan’s previous descriptions, Lu Aiguo and Shitou had already drawn up a rough map in their minds, just short of actually setting foot on it.
Haicheng’s urban area was primarily divided into seven major parts, and their current location in Shun’an District was the bustling center of the entire city, with the municipal government located within this district.
Yihai Pharmacy was on the same line as the municipal government, also situated on Haicheng’s busiest Shun’an Street.
It would take about fifty minutes to walk from where they were staying to Shun’an Street, and on the way, they would pass by Haicheng’s Sixth Central Elementary School—the school where Lu Yun would be attending.
Xia Na and Xia Yuan’s household registrations were all in the Zell Street of Shun’an District, so their children were zoned for Haicheng Sixth Central Elementary School, also known as Haicheng No. 6 Primary. Of course, Haicheng No. 6 Primary was just an ordinary school, not a key one.
Actually, even though their current rental place still belonged to Shun’an District, it was already on the edge of the city, right at the boundary with the suburbs.
When they walked out, they could occasionally see large patches of vegetable fields.
However, Lu Yun knew that in another decade or two, with the city’s rapid development, these vegetable fields would gradually turn into high-rise buildings, and this area would be included within the inner circle of Haicheng’s first ring, becoming a truly prime and busy location.
The midday sun might have been harsh, but walking on the streets wasn’t too unbearable. As long as they avoided the direct sunlight and followed the shade of the trees, with the occasional breeze blowing, the three of them didn’t sweat much even after walking a long way.
By the time they arrived at Shun’an Street, it was just after one o’clock. This future busiest commercial street of Haicheng didn’t have many shops yet, appearing sparsely populated. Combined with the time of their visit, the entire street wasn’t very crowded.
Apart from the most conspicuous The First Department Store Building on Shun’an Street, there was the Post and Telecommunications Building, which in no way fell short. These two buildings stood side by side, particularly prominent, making other state-owned shops seem crude and insignificant by comparison.
Yihai Pharmacy wasn’t hard to find. The front of the pharmacy was not much different from other shops, just a bit larger, with the addition of a whole wall of medicine drawers.
