Chapter 519: Chapter 499: Who is the person behind the scenes? (Part 12)
"But the real issue that’s causing my insomnia is one of our classmates. I can’t figure out who’s carrying that thing that triggers the drug effect in me," Qianqian said, somewhat gloomily, leaning against the headboard and staring at the ceiling, "And why is there such an unreliable medicine? After eating it, not only can’t you digest it, but it also leaves a residue, as if I’m a fruit and this stuff is pesticide?"
"You usually only come into contact with those few people, right? Just avoid them and you’ll be fine." Qin Nuan understood the situation and sighed softly.
"Xi Meng, Wang Zi, Sun Bin, and Elvis—Elvis can be ruled out first, because he wasn’t there the first time, and I interact with him every day without any issues. If it were him, considering how close we sit together, I would have been affected long ago. Of the other three, Sun Bin likes Xi Meng, so she’s hostile towards me, and she indeed always has various perfume scents on her. Wang Zi is actually quite nice to me, but she’s always with Sun Bin. As for Xi Meng, I don’t have a good feeling about her; she’s a bit too full of herself."
"Xi Meng, didn’t you say he is Chang Xi..."
"Right." Before Qin Nuan could finish her sentence, Luo Qianqi immediately nodded in agreement, "That’s correct, there’s also Chang Xi. I haven’t seen her lately. Let’s meet up with her later and go out to eat together."
The Wei Family can still be trusted; aside from them knowing early on about her being Luo Qianqian, the simple-minded Chang Xi is also someone worth befriending.
"You’re not going to sleep?" Qin Nuan disapproved, watching the dark circles forming under her eyes, slightly frowning.
"No more sleep for me. I’ll have a meal with Grandpa and Grandma and then we’ll go out," Luo Qianqian got up, "If we don’t eat, Grandma will skimp on it again." When they were not home for a meal, it was always the housekeeper’s cooking that was less salty, less oily, and mainly bland.
But when they were there, it was different; Yue Tingyu would cook personally. Even making noodles, the soup wasn’t just plain water but a rich white broth made from bones, incredibly fragrant.
Moreover, things were livelier when they were around, and Grandpa and Grandma would eat more.
So, the younger ones had long agreed that whoever was home over the weekend had to have meals with the elders.
Usually, this was Luo Qianqian’s responsibility alone, but now there were Qin Nuan and Luo Yanwu, which promised a more animated setting, likely encouraging the elders to eat even more.
"What about lunch?" Qin Nuan asked immediately, frowning. If they went out for a meal, wouldn’t the elders just skimp on it again?
"Third Brother is here too," Luo Qianqian entered the bathroom very calmly, finished her grooming, and came out in a comfortable white T-shirt and shorts, matching Qin Nuan’s black T-shirt and shorts.
Downstairs, the elders hadn’t returned home yet, Baozi had already eaten and was lazily lying in front of the window basking in the sun; seeing Luo Qianqian come downstairs, it wagged its tail and greeted her.
Luo Qianqian squatted down, combed its fur, and then turned to Luo Yanwu, who was reading in the living room, and said with a smile, "Wow, the sun really is rising from the west today? My Third Brother is actually reading a book?"
Luo Yanwu looked up and glanced at her, "Indeed, the sun has risen from the west today, Luo Qianqian is actually not sleeping in, truly a wonder."
Qin Nuan couldn’t help but laugh. Then, watching Luo Qianqian charge towards Luo Yanwu with bared teeth and waving claws, she thought something seemed familiar about the scene...
Luo Yanwu restrained Luo Qianqian with one hand, holding her two restless hands, put down his book, "Are you going out later?"
"Yeah, stay with Grandpa and Grandma for lunch, and don’t go wandering off," Luo Qianqian said earnestly.
Luo Yanwu nodded his head, letting her go and then looked at Qin Nuan, "Don’t let her run wild."
Qin Nuan agreed, her eyes teasing as she looked at Luo Qianqian: I’m the guardian, yours.
Not wanting to argue with this childish prankster, Luo Qianqian looked at the book by the side and raised an eyebrow, "Third Brother, this isn’t like you at all."
The book in question turned out to be one that Luo Yanran had bought to try to understand what Qin Nuan was thinking every day. Of course, they later found out the book was full of nonsense, and Qin Nuan didn’t follow any set pattern, being even more unpredictable than Luo Qianqian.
Afterward, Old Master Luo had taken him into the study, saying that he wouldn’t chase after the next grandson who might need it.
And indeed...
"...What gifts would you like to receive for Qixi?" Of course, this question was mainly directed at Qin Nuan; as for Luo Qianqian’s thoughts, he didn’t consider them at all.
"Qixi? The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, meeting once a year, stars, diamonds, giving rings," Luo Qianqian instantly said without giving it a second thought when she heard the question.
Luo Qianqian indeed came up with an unreliable idea; he and Cong Rong weren’t at that stage yet. That’s what Luo Yanwu thought.
Qin Nuan raised an eyebrow, "Whatever the beloved gives, is good." Her answer was as good as not answering at all.
"If you ask me, just give a bunch of flowers, then maybe a necklace or something, followed by a candlelit dinner, under the starry sky, get down on one knee, filled with deep affection, eyes brimming with the promise of spring, ’Would you be my girlfriend?’" As Luo Qianqian spoke, she casually grabbed an apple from the coffee table and knelt on one knee in front of Qin Nuan.
Qin Nuan played along very well, "I, I, oh stop it, you’re making me blush... this apple isn’t sweet..." Qin Nuan took the apple pretending to act shy, bit into the apple, and then frowned, "This isn’t the apple I want. I want the sweetest one!"
"Get lost." Luo Qianqian stood up, expertly took off her shoes, and stood on the sofa, placing a hand on Qin Nuan’s shoulder, looking into her eyes, "Do you have a lighter?"
Qin Nuan was stunned for a moment, then shook her head, "I don’t smoke..."
"Then, how did you light a fire in my heart?" Luo Qianqian’s other hand gently lifted Qin Nuan’s chin, her face wickedly charming, she kissed her on the face, and then frowned, "Your skin is a bit dry, eh? Come on, let’s go buy some cosmetics."
Luo Yanwu looked at Luo Qianqian with eyes wide open and mouth agape. Was this his sister??? Was she giving him a demonstration of how to flirt with girls???
However, it didn’t end there...
"Excuse me, I would like to ask for directions." Luo Qianqian got down from the sofa and stood on the floor, looking at Qin Nuan with a face full of confusion.
Qin Nuan raised an eyebrow, "To where?" She had seen this routine before, but for some reason, watching Luo Qianqian perform it was actually kind of amusing, making it hard for her to hide her smile.
"To your heart," said Luo Qianqian, sending a flying kiss to Qin Nuan.
Luo Yanwu’s mouth hung open, his face frozen in shock...
"I used to not eat a meal without meat, but since meeting you, I’ve become a vegetarian," Luo Qianqian then put on a serious expression again.
"Why?"
"Because you’re my type of dish," Luo Qianqian gave Qin Nuan another coquettish look.
"Can you smile for me? Because... the apple isn’t sweet, but your dimples are." As soon as she finished speaking...
Noises of something heavy hitting the floor came from the entrance; the trio turned their heads to look, only to see Old Master Luo and Yue Tingyu at the door, eyes widened in disbelief.
Was this polite granddaughter of theirs the one speaking? They felt if their granddaughter were a grandson, none of these other grandsons would matter at all.
