Chapter 170: Chapter 159: He Wenyu’s Little Secret
After a week-long internship, Luo Shufan was still reluctant to leave. It was only after Luo Family’s Eldest Uncle promised he could come again during the summer vacation that he was willing to stop insisting. Luo Qianqian, on the other hand, looked completely exhausted. After being well fed and taken care of by Grandma Luo, she finally regained her spirits after two days of sleep. However, with the start of school imminent, the Luo siblings could only pack their bags, including the clothes specially picked out by their second aunt and uncle’s wife, and headed home.
The one picking them up was Bai Yixian, whose complexion seemed a bit more weathered.
"Brother Bai, what happened to you?" After hesitating for a while, Luo Shufan finally asked, feeling that his complexion was as unsightly as his sister’s after a cross-country run.
Bai Yixian shook his head, "It’s nothing. Did you guys have fun at the military camp?"
Luo Qianqian, knowing that Bai Yixian got his information from the Luo Family, was not surprised and nodded, "My brother had a lot of fun."
"You didn’t have fun?" When brother had fun, it implied that she did not. Bai Yixian looked at Luo Qianqian with a smile.
"Tired." Speaking of that experience, Luo Qianqian still felt weak in the legs, but she was quite happy to have made some friends. Before leaving, she had distributed all the beef jerky and fruits she had brought.
As for the two fish that Luo Yanhai caught? They were added to Luo Qianqian’s meal the next day at noon. The small fish were made into a fish soup, and with so many people in the cafeteria, one spoonful each was all that was left.
"How’s Zhuzi doing? Did he study well during the holidays?" Luo Qianqian, not wanting to bring up that painful yet joyful experience, changed the subject.
"Oh, that kid recently fell for a girl. He’s been going out to play every day, study? Since the vacation, he hasn’t even touched his backpack." Bai Yixian sighed, "Don’t you two start dating too early, it’s too exhausting and you can’t see what lies ahead."
"We’re not that old; Brother Bai, you worry too much." Luo Shufan said nonchalantly.
Luo Qianqian blushed and chuckled a few times, "Yes, yes, but the master told you everything; you brothers really have a good relationship, don’t you?"
"Without him telling me, how would I have given him money to buy snacks for the girl?" Bai Yixian said with a disdainful expression on his face, "And that girl isn’t even pretty, her studies aren’t good, and her family background isn’t much either. I just don’t understand how Tie Zhu could fancy her. What kind of taste does he have?"
"You’ve got to tell me in the future too," Luo Shufan said to his sister with a very serious expression.
Luo Qianqian opened her mouth, hesitated for a moment, and then responded, "Yes, yes, yes." Then she turned to Bai Yixian, "Maybe that girl has a special talent that Zhuzi really admires, which is why he likes her."
"I feel it might have been something like a damsel in distress scenario. Zhuzi had thought about such scenes even before, saying in middle school that his most beautiful woman would arrive in a pumpkin carriage to rescue him from a colorless, dreary life."
"Are you sure it isn’t ’My ideal person is a supreme hero, one day he will come to pick me up riding the Seven-Colored Auspicious Cloud’? Isn’t this the love story of Supreme and Fairy Zixia?" Luo Qianqian scoffed, her brother’s delusional disorder was like the Demon King, and Zhuzi’s was like Sun Wukong. Hers in her past life seemed to be something like a Sailor Moon type, right?
And there’s more to it, "But I guessed the beginning, just not this tragic ending," Luo Shufan added, following up with his sister.
"Speaking of which, Xiao Yu also has a situation." Bai Yixian sighed and shook his head, helpless with his brother. His brother could lead older people in blocking the road for robberies, help little children, ignore beautiful women, or treasure an unremarkable girl, what more could he say? All he could do was let it develop and hope that this relationship would fade away over time.
"Xiao Yu?" Luo Qianqian felt a bit nervous, "With whom?"
"It’s not the few you usually hang out with." As Bai Yixian stopped the car at the red light, he turned to Luo Qianqian, looking serious. "Xiao Yu has good taste, that boy seems pretty decent."
Luo Qianqian didn’t respond, feeling a bit uneasy. It couldn’t be that Xiao Yu had already met that person, could it? If not, there was no reason for her to feel this panic.
"I’ll go back and ask." Luo Qianqian knew that worrying now was futile, what had happened had already occurred, and worrying wouldn’t change anything.
"Kids, you know, when you spend time together, feelings grow inevitably. Don’t take it to heart. After some time, he’ll lose interest, just like when I was a kid and found out the girl I liked could fart, I stopped liking her right away." Bai Yixian drove and advised Luo Qianqian, noticing her serious expression, it was obvious she was upset.
"I hope so." As long as it wasn’t that person, Luo Qianqian didn’t mind if He Wenyu started dating early, especially since her relationship with Xu Tianyi was also ambiguous. Thinking of Xu Tianyi, a blush crept across Luo Qianqian’s face. That rascal, hugging her without even asking her permission.
"Brother, do you have any girl you like?" Luo Qianqian suddenly turned to Luo Shufan, realizing that none of the five brothers in the Luo family seemed to show any signs of being in love. The eldest, Luo Yanhai, was always in the military base, and it was hard enough to meet one’s mother, let alone a girlfriend. As he grew older, it was also not as easy to get vacations as before. But perhaps a bigger reason was that his position had risen.
"Where would I find one?" Luo Shufan looked at his sister disapprovingly. She was the one who trusted him initially, and now she was the one doubting him. Girls are really hard to predict—it’s tough enough to deal with one "princess" throwing tantrums; why would he think of finding another to torment him?
Luo Qianqian, thinking that most girls her brother’s age treated him like a little brother, felt reassured, "We can talk about this in three years. Don’t mess around, or I’ll tattle to Mom," and she rolled her eyes while saying so.
Luo Shufan pursed his lips and said nothing.
Bai one dropped the siblings off downstairs. As soon as the car stopped, Luo Qianqian opened the door and got out, "I’m going to Xiao Yu’s house." She left Luo Shufan standing there with the luggage, a wry smile on his face. Bai Yixian declined Luo Shufan’s invitation to come up for tea and drove away.
Just as Luo Qianqian reached the door, she bumped into He Wenyu coming out.
"Qianqian, you’re finally back." He Wenyu, surprised and happy, grabbed Luo Qianqian’s hand. "You seem a bit thinner, haven’t you been eating well?"
"Where are you going?" Instead of answering He Wenyu’s question, Luo Qianqian scrutinized his outfit and squinted her eyes.
He Wenyu paused, his face reddening, "Ah, wait for me to come back and tell you. Kids don’t need to know so much." He glanced at his watch, then tried to bypass Luo Qianqian and leave.
Watching He Wenyu walking downstairs, without thinking, Luo Qianqian shouted, "Zhao Wenxuan!"
Seeing He Wenyu turn around with a shocked face, Luo Qianqian felt utterly hopeless—how could it be? Was it really him?
"You know him?" He Wenyu saw Luo Qianqian sitting on the ground and rushed back to help her, "What’s wrong? Can’t you even stand up? Are you that tired?"
"Xiao Yu, we agreed, if our partner doesn’t agree, we won’t date, right?" Tears welled up in Luo Qianqian’s eyes, "Xiao Yu, he isn’t right."
He Wenyu, frowning, helped Luo Qianqian up, "You know him? Why are you coming back and suddenly saying this and that won’t work? We haven’t even started anything yet. Are you meddling too much because you’re in a bad mood, or is it because Xu Tianyi left and you can’t stand to see me with other guys? This is my business, I can judge for myself."
Luo Shufan heard Luo Qianqian arguing with He Wenyu on the first floor. He quickly went upstairs and saw his sister crying while looking at He Wenyu, who, although supporting her, had a dissatisfied look on his face.
