Chapter 154: Chapter 143: Xu Tianyi is about to leave
"Bai Yixian, why are you here? Is Zhuzi transferring to our school?" During lunchtime, Luo Qianqian went to the office to inquire about the situation with Xiu Xian, but before she even entered the office, she saw Bai Yixian coming out.
Bai Yixian touched his head: "I’m here for someone else. Have you had your lunch break?"
"Yeah. Is our class’s teacher here?" Then she added, "Forget it, you wouldn’t know him. I’ll go ask about what to do. My deskmate hasn’t spoken all morning."
"No need to go. I’m here to process your deskmate’s transfer." Bai Yixian looked at Luo Qianqian’s incredulous expression and gave a bitter smile, realizing Xu Tianyi definitely couldn’t stay any longer. Kids these days, already on guard at nine years old, early romance is really scary.
"Why? Did the teacher tell him to withdraw from school? Where is he going? Why is he the one leaving and not someone else? He didn’t do anything wrong, he only helped me because he saw me getting hit." Luo Qianqian didn’t hold back, spilling everything to Bai Yixian like bamboo tubes pouring out beans.
Bai Yixian already knew about the love letter incident. Now, having heard so much from the person involved, he felt a wave of frustration. Xu Tianyi hadn’t mentioned in the office that the matter involved Luo Qianqian, only that the signed love letter couldn’t be faked. He told the person on the other end of the phone, and they instructed him to transfer Xu Tianyi back to Capital City, away from Luo Qianqian.
"He has, family matters, asking him to return," Bai Yixian said, not knowing how else to explain Xu Tianyi’s transfer.
"Then why transfer here in the first place?" Luo Qianqian scoffed. "Just for one month, as an exchange student? Xu Tianyi was hospitalized and I never saw his family show concern, and now they’re asking him to return when there’s an issue. What do they think he is? Cheap labor?" Hearing Bai Yixian’s words, Luo Qianqian felt even more disgusted with the Xu Family whom she had never met.
"Hospitalized?" Bai Yixian frowned, wondering how he was not aware of this. "When did that happen?"
"Qianqian." Xu Tianyi approached as he saw Luo Qianqian speaking with Bai Yixian. "Didn’t I say it was nothing? What are you doing at the office?"
"Xu Tianyi, why didn’t you tell me you were transferring?" Luo Qianqian looked at Xu Tianyi, tears streaming down instantly, her eyes filled with helplessness. With every blink, a tear as big as a bean would fall.
Xu Tianyi frowned and sighed deeply: "Why tell you? As long as you’re okay, that’s good. Does your face still hurt?"
"Xu Tianyi, when were you hospitalized?" Bai Yixian asked, frowning at Xu Tianyi.
Xu Tianyi was taken aback and looked at Luo Qianqian, who was incessantly shedding tears, then pulled out a tissue to wipe the tears off her face: "It was just a few days ago, it’s not a big deal."
"Xu Tianyi, don’t leave, I’m not competing with you for first place," Luo Qianqian said tearfully, getting more tears on Xu Tianyi as he wiped them away.
Watching Luo Qianqian’s distress, Xu Tianyi gently rubbed her head: "I have to go because of family issues. Be good and get into a good college like I want to, and we can still see each other. We can also meet during the holidays."
Luo Qianqian choked up and asked, "When are you leaving?"
"The weekend," Bai Yixian said softly from the side.
"Bai Yixian, you jerk, I won’t let you ask my brother to tutor Zhuzi anymore!" Luo Qianqian said resentfully while wiping away her tears.
Bai Yixian gave a wry smile; what did this have to do with him? He was just a well-off laborer following orders.
"Qianqian, I believe in you, that you can get into the college I want to go to." Xu Tianyi smiled gently, pulling Luo Qianqian into his embrace.
Luo Qianqian hugged Xu Tianyi’s waist and cried hard, smearing snot and tears all over him.
"Don’t cry, okay? The next time we meet, I’ll make something delicious for you, all right?" Xu Tianyi said softly while stroking Luo Qianqian’s soft hair. This was the first time he embraced someone who wasn’t his grandmother; it felt soft, like cotton candy.
"You only know how to make instant noodles..." Luo Qianqian mumbled from Xu Tianyi’s embrace.
Xu Tianyi chuckled bitterly: "I can learn, can’t I? I’m your ace after all; I can’t have a weak point." His confident tone made Luo Qianqian unable to suppress a laugh, pushing Xu Tianyi away and blushing as she saw the large damp spot on his chest.
"I’m not washing it for you; it was you who hugged me," she said, turning her head away, refusing to look at the damp spot.
The warm and soft Luo Qianqian left his embrace, and Xu Tianyi suddenly felt the chill around him. He smiled and said, "Yes, I was hugging myself."
"Xu Tianyi, I will study hard." Luo Qianqian’s eyes, looking into Xu Tianyi’s, were clear and free of any impurities, making him feel as if he was about to get lost in them.
He nodded gently, "I know, I believe in you." The smile on his lips wasn’t affected by the injury on his face, and it stayed deeply ingrained in Luo Qianqian’s mind.
"Stay at my place for the next few days." Luo Qianqian offered with a laugh. Seeing Bai Yixian’s shocked expression, she quickly added, "You’ll share a room with my brother. He definitely wouldn’t want you to leave either."
When Bai Yixian gave him an inquiring look, Xu Tianyi somehow felt very happy and nodded, "Okay."
Bai Yixian really wanted to make a call to report this, but the person on the other end was on a mission and had turned off his phone.
"Then I’ll be leaving. Call me if anything comes up," Bai Yixian said as he beat a hasty retreat. If he continued to watch, he wasn’t sure if he needed to report the goings-on to the "big boss," so it was better if he didn’t see any of it. It was only for a few days, after all, and with Luo Shufan around, he reckoned nothing would happen.
"Hey." Luo Qianqian looked at Xu Tianyi, her eyes full of reluctance, "You didn’t leave because you were afraid I would surpass you and take the first place, did you?"
How could that be, Xu Tianyi thought, shaking his head with amusement. But it seemed true his transfer had much to do with the love letter issue, "Perhaps I was afraid I’d kidnap you," he said softly.
Luo Qianqian did not miss his murmured words, and paused, not speaking further.
After school, she accompanied Xu Tianyi to his place to pack a few clothes. "Xu Tianyi, this apartment belongs to Bai Yixian, right?" Luo Qianqian was not a fool. After realizing that Bai Yixian was the one arranging the paperwork, it dawned on her, but what she hadn’t expected was that it wasn’t the Xu Family but her own uncle who had arranged for Xu Tianyi to stay, and also who had taken him away.
"Brother, Xu Tianyi is transferring schools next week, so he’ll sleep with you this week. If you have any questions, ask them now, because there won’t be another chance after this ’village’ has passed," Luo Qianqian shouted as soon as she got home. However, Luo Shufan was still at school and hadn’t finished his classes. The only response to her was the breeze blowing through the windows that weren’t quite closed.
"Are you hungry? I’ll go see Xiao Yu to prepare something to eat. Make yourself comfortable in the meantime," Luo Qianqian handed her backpack to Xu Tianyi and hurried downstairs. However, after knocking on the door for ages, there was no response from He Wenyu, "This is strange, everyone’s out? Did they go out to eat? How could they not take me with them?"
Xu Tianyi looked at the pair of pink, fluffy, bunny slippers in the shoe cabinet and his mouth twitched. She’s still a child at heart, preferring things like that.
"Oh oh oh, I forgot to get you slippers, wait for me." When Luo Qianqian returned home, she saw Xu Tianyi staring blankly at the shoe cabinet and hurriedly fetched a pair for him—naturally, she grabbed Luo Shufan’s since he usually preferred not wearing any at home.
Seeing the significantly more normal-looking slippers, Xu Tianyi breathed a sigh of relief, then saw Luo Qianqian put on a very ordinary pair herself.
Noticing Xu Tianyi’s puzzled look, Luo Qianqian glanced at the pink bunny slippers and quickly explained, "These are new from my mom’s shop, and I’ve never worn them. They’re for winter, and it’s not that cold now."
"Xiao Yu isn’t home?" Not seeing anyone behind Luo Qianqian, Xu Tianyi raised his eyebrows slightly. They had dined together regularly lately, and he had become very familiar with Luo Shufan and He Wenyu, as well as Luo Qianqian’s disastrous cooking skills.
"She’s probably on duty or had something come up suddenly, no big deal," Luo Qianqian waved it off but still felt slightly worried, considering it was not He Wenyu’s usual pattern to be away.
"So what do we do now?" Both Xu Tianyi and Luo Qianqian had finished their homework at school, so their backpacks didn’t have much apart from some clothes and a few books Xu Tianyi was going to read that night, which made them a bit heavier.
"Do you watch TV?" Luo Qianqian blinked. She had never been alone with Xu Tianyi like this before. The only other time was when she was sick, and he came to take care of her.
Xu Tianyi felt as if three black lines were sliding down his forehead and shook his head, "Are you hungry? Should I make something for you to eat?"
"I don’t eat instant noodles," Luo Qianqian stated quickly. The room suddenly fell into an awkward silence.
"Do you want to do my practice workbook?" Xu Tianyi dug out the workbook from his backpack after a moment’s thought, and Luo Qianqian’s eyes lit up because she couldn’t understand any of it.
"Great god, can you not compare your level with mine, please? I’m just a little scrappy, with a combat power of only five. You, with your combat power over a hundred thousand, shouldn’t be flaunting your presence in front of me, okay?" Luo Qianqian pouted, taking the workbook. She couldn’t even begin to do the exercises, let alone understand them, because they were nothing like what she had learned in her previous life.
Your classmates would cry. Xu Tianyi listened to Luo Qianqian’s description and couldn’t help but find it a bit amusing; this kid was far more interesting than he had thought.
