Chapter 85: Chapter 85 Ergou, You’ve Gone Bad [Additional Update for Boss 00’s Food, Second Update]_1
Qin Shou and Chang’e exchanged glances, both seeing the reluctance in each other’s eyes. They split up and swept through the Moon Palace, only to discover that the Tianlai House was nothing but an empty building. Although the Baihua House had temperature control abilities, it didn’t even have a single flowerpot—what kind of Baihua House was that? Several pavilions and platforms were utterly disappointing, not even a stone chair in sight—just a pretty pavilion standing there! Think about it, could people actually sit in such a place? Were they expected to sit on the ground and play cards whenever visitors came?
Qin Shou imagined the scene of a congregation of immortals sitting on the floor, a vision so beautiful it was unbearable to witness...
The grand halls were just as empty, and the pagoda was completely bare...
Even after searching the entire Moon Palace, Qin Shou didn’t see so much as a weed, let alone any exotic flowers, ancient trees thousand years old!
When the two met again at the entrance of the Moon Palace, Qin Shou ground his teeth and said, "This is way too stingy! They said they’d give us the Moon Palace and that’s exactly what we got—just the structure without an extra blade of grass!"
Chang’e was speechless as well, not expecting that her first palace in life would be so bare.
But Chang’e didn’t mind and said, "Alright, stop complaining. No matter what, this is a gift from the Jade Emperor, and he didn’t have any obligation to give us a palace—so it’s a favor. This is our new home, our home... Although it lacks many things, as long as we are together, I have you, and that’s enough for me."
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou’s heart quivered, the words striking a familiar chord.
Before Old Master Qin passed away, he too grabbed Qin Shou and said something similar: "Child... although I have been a failure in life, having you is enough for me..."
Thinking of the old man’s smile, Qin Shou felt even more sorrowful.
"Yu’er, what are you daydreaming about?" Chang’e noticed Qin Shou drifting into thought, bent down, and pinched his chubby face, asking.
Qin Shou quickly shook his head, breaking free from the demon’s claw, and said, "It’s nothing, I’ll make up for what’s lacking here in time."
"Alright... but remember you said it, I’ll hold you to it! Let’s move then! Hey... where is our home?" Just as Chang’e was about to return to the cave, she turned around to find the cave had disappeared...
Qin Shou turned around to look as well, only to see that the spot where the cave had been seemed to have been swallowed up by their supersized palace complex...
"Er... seems like it got buried. Even the little hillock has vanished..." Qin Shou mumbled, with an awkward expression.
"All our stuff was inside!" Chang’e exclaimed in panic.
Qin Shou said, "Let’s go, we’ll look inside the courtyard. It is such a large hole, maybe we’ll still find it."
So the two entered the Moon Palace once again. By the former location of the cave, they eventually arrived near what was supposed to be the garden in the heart of the Moon Palace—of course, there wasn’t a single blade of grass, just a vast empty space. In the exact center of the garden was the Moon Altar, with the Glazed Well beside it.
And, based on the cave’s location, it would have been right below this well!
Chang’e peeked into the well, which was dark and inscrutable, and asked, "Yu’er, do you think there’s anything left down there?"
Qin Shou, being too short, climbed up to the edge of the well and after peering inside, shook his head and said, "I don’t know, we’ll see if we go down."
He was about to jump down, but then he thought better of it, considering his unreliable ability to "Ride the Cloud, Drive the Mist" was likely to fail him. He’d better climb down... However, the walls of the well were smooth as a mirror, impossible to grip. Maybe he should use his teeth—given the state of Qin Shou’s teeth, he would surely get stuck with confidence!
Just then, a figure slowly rose beside them. Qin Shou looked up, his eyes wide, and exclaimed, "Sister, when did you learn that?"
Chang’e stood on an auspicious cloud, smiling as she said, "I learned it from Flower Fairy Sister during the Mid-Year Festival gathering. It was just a mnemonic and a simple method to channel Yuan Qi. At first, I thought it would be challenging, but right after you went out, I gave it a try and it turned out to be quite easy... Yu’er, why has your face gone dark?"
Seeing Qin Shou looking unhappy, Chang’e stopped smiling, hurriedly descended from the cloud, came closer and cautiously asked, "Yu’er, what’s wrong? Are you feeling defeated? If that’s the case, then talk about it and make me happy..."
Qin Shou looked up at Chang’e and after holding it in for a while, said, "Ergou, you’ve learned to be bad."
Thump!
"You’re the one who’s Ergou!" Chang’e knocked on Qin Shou’s head and then asked, "What’s really bothering you? You’re not actually getting angry because I learned something you didn’t, are you?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou rolled his eyes and said, "How could that be... I can’t wait for you to be so powerful that you’re unmatched under Heaven, then I can peacefully live off a woman’s fortune. Unlike now, I still have to worry about all sorts of things."
Indeed, Qin Shou, this shameless guy, didn’t care at all about living off a woman’s fortune. On the contrary, he was quite looking forward to it.
Of course, it wasn’t that he lacked pride, but rather, in his view, if he was with someone he loved, anything would do, even living off her fortune. If it was with someone he didn’t care enough about, sorry, he had plenty of dignity. He would decisively switch and then look for a girlfriend who would allow him to live off her wealth, whom he liked, and who was incredibly cool... Which is why he remained single in his previous life... single... single... single...
Even though he had arrived in the Immortal Realm, ideals were still full, but reality was still bony – such girlfriends were not so easy to find. So, since he had chosen a target and she wasn’t powerful enough, he had no choice but to become stronger himself...
"I see... well, when I become powerful in the future, you will... wait, that’s not right! You are already mine, I am the master and you are the pet, so you are already living off a woman’s fortune!" Chang’e suddenly came to her senses and emphasized.
Qin Shou wanted to say something but then, looking at Chang’e’s assertive face, he decided to give up on arguing with her and said, "Alright, I will be a rabbit who lives off a woman’s fortune from now on!"
"Good... Look at you acting all proud. Come on, let’s go down and see how much of our possessions are left," Chang’e said and, embracing Qin Shou, stepped on the auspicious cloud, slowly descending into the well.
The Glazed Well, true to its name, was made entirely of glazed material, smooth as jade and looking extremely luxurious. However, as they went deeper, it became darker and darker inside. After descending about ten or so meters, they reached the bottom of the Glazed Well, which was precisely where their cave dwelling used to be. In other words, the Glazed Well wasn’t very deep.
Looking around the familiar environment, the two exchanged glances and laughed happily.
Qin Shou packed up the items, stuffed them into the Black Demon Box, and was about to leave when suddenly he felt a chill breeze blowing from the depths of the cave.
Qin Shou looked back suspiciously, but the depths of the cave were pitch-black, and he couldn’t see anything.
As had been mentioned before, the cave where Qin Shou and Chang’e lived was naturally formed and extended very deep underground. Neither Qin Shou nor Chang’e had ever explored it thoroughly...
First, they didn’t have the power to venture so deep.
Second, they were too busy eating to have the time for adventures.
But now...
"Let’s go, let’s head up," Qin Shou said, still without any interest in exploring.
