Rabbit Must Die -

Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Educated_1
That feeling was incredibly comfortable.
Just then, a jade hand reached out and, with a grasp in the air, scattered a large handful of petals over Qin Shou’s body.
Qin Shou looked up and saw He Xiangu laughing, "You little rabbit seem to be severely lacking in Yuan Qi, you better replenish it."
Qin Shou nodded gratefully... For the first time, he felt that apart from being a bit of a hooligan, this girl was quite nice.
As they spoke, the distant golden light drew closer, and finally, Qin Shou could see clearly that in the endless starry sky, nine golden Divine Dragons were pulling a carriage that was hurtling through space, each dragon immense and awe-inspiring, like a constellation! Each movement they made was majestic and imposing, filling Qin Shou with a boiling enthusiasm!
The golden dragons were adorned with colored ribbons, which hung like rainbows behind a massive palatial carriage!
That’s right, it wasn’t just a carriage, but a floating palace resembling an island, with maids bustling about inside and guards standing atop it...
Trailing the palace were another nine Phoenixes pulling an equally magnificent palatial carriage.
All of this left Qin Shou starstruck...
Unable to help himself, Qin Shou exclaimed in his heart, "My heavens, this is what truly wealthy is! Those guys back on Earth who flaunted stretch limos or yachts and private planes, compared to this, are simply trash! This palace must be many times larger than Earth... this isn’t just a floating palace; it’s a whole world!"
Before long, the Heavenly Dragons arrived at the venue with the palace, followed by the Phoenixes separating to either side, as if forming a procession.
From within the palace emerged two figures, one male and one female, one in a dragon robe and the other in a phoenix robe, both enveloped in a golden light, their faces obscured. Even so, the moment the two appeared, all the immortals in attendance bowed in unison and voiced loudly, "We welcome the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother of the West!"
Their voices were sonorous, shaking Heaven and Earth, a level of reception unmatched by any of the other immortals or overlords before them!
Qin Shou, feeling his blood surge with fervor, cried out in his heart, "These are the real winners in life! If I could ever reach this level, wouldn’t I just strut around as I please?"
The Jade Emperor exchanged a glance with the Queen Mother of the West and said, "Our fellow immortals, please rise."
Only then did the immortals stand straight again.
Of course, Qin Shou was the exception; while everyone else bowed, he lay on the ground, belly up, playing dead...
However, the Jade Emperor and the others obviously did not bother to look into the little schemes of a rabbit.
The Jade Emperor walked with the Queen Mother of the West toward the third layer of the Cloud Altar, and that was when Qin Shou realized that the Queen Mother always walked a step behind the Jade Emperor, signifying that they were not equals.
At the same time, Qin Shou also noticed that the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother of the West didn’t seem particularly close, making him wonder if there was some marital discord...
Dog Xiaotian, knowing Qin Shou was clueless, whispered, "The Queen Mother of the West made her name quite early and holds a venerable status, so she can come along with the Jade Emperor."
Qin Shou asked, "What’s the relationship between these two?"
Dog Xiaotian was taken aback and probably didn’t expect Qin Shou to be so nosy.
He Xiangu laughed and said, "Many people in the mortal world think that the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother of the West are husband and wife, but this isn’t the case. The Queen Mother of the West is the master of the Jade Lake and became famous even before the current Jade Emperor. They are not husband and wife, but rather have a relationship like Daoist companions. The relationship between the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother of the West is no different from that between the Jade Emperor and the other Overlords."
Qin Shou was stunned and asked covertly, "Then where did all these crown princes and princesses come from?"
He Xiangu laughed and said, "This Queen Mother, the one you’re talking about, the Queen Mother, these are two different entities. Don’t get them mixed up."
It was then that Qin Shou finally understood the relationships, but it wasn’t his fault. Back on Earth in his previous life, although Huaxia had a system of immortals, it was all a jumbled mess, with everyone having their own versions, and different scriptures recording different things. It was no wonder Qin Shou was confused and couldn’t make sense of it.
As the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother of the West took their seats, all the other immortals also sat down. Once seated, everyone instantly revealed their true nature, those who bragged did so, those who picked their toes did that, and those who were to drink did so...
Seeing this, Qin Shou nodded to himself and muttered, "Immortals? Mmp, this is what immortals are like, acting as they please, unrestrained."
Without any superfluous speeches from leadership, as soon as the Jade Emperor gave the order, the Mid-Yuan Festival celebration began.
First, a person walked out from the Cloud Altar, dressed in an apricot-yellow Daoist robe with a daoist token in hand. He walked onto the ice cap in the middle of the lake and proclaimed loudly, "The Mid-Yuan Festival has arrived, all immortals and Buddhists are in place, where is the Earth Official?"
As his voice trailed off, the ice cap suddenly emitted light, followed by a beam shooting up into the sky, transforming into a huge screen in the sky! In the screen, a man with black hair stood in the air, looking down on the earth. Hearing the call, he greeted everyone with a bow and said, "Fellow Daoist friends, today is this official’s birthday, I thank you all for coming to convey your congratulations."
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou dropped his wine cup to the ground with a clatter and exclaimed, "The Mid-Yuan Festival is just for celebrating his birthday? Deities and Buddhas come from all over just for one person’s birthday? My heavens, does this guy really have such a big face?"
Limp Li laughed heartily and said, "The Earth Official is no ordinary official. As the saying goes, ’Heaven Official, Earth Official, Water Official,’ although they all have ’official’ in their names, they are not ordinary minor officials. The three officials, also known as the Three Origins, together constitute the Three Official Emperors! That is, the Heaven Official Emperor, Earth Official Emperor, and Water Official Emperor, who are among the first deities venerated by the mortal realm."
Upon hearing the title ’Overlord’ at the end, Qin Shou somewhat understood, but he still couldn’t wrap his head around it. Were Overlords proliferating like pests? So many Overlords?
Han Zhongli continued, "Don’t think too much about it. This Overlord is not conferred by the Heavenly Court but by mortals. After being called for a long time, the Heavenly Court just recognized it."
Qin Shou breathed a sigh of relief, as he had thought that the title of Overlord had depreciated in value.
He Xiangu said, "The three Yuan festivals, the Upper, Middle, and Lower Yuan, correspond to the birthdays of the Heaven Official, Earth Official, and Water Official Emperors. However, those are the festivals of mortals, and the celebration in the Heavenly Court is just an extension and upgrade of the mortal version. The three Yuan festivals are also known as Ghost Three Yuan, which is a festival for ghosts. On this day, during the Earth Official’s birthday, many people ask if the Earth Official could let them see their ancestors, or those who have erred pray to the Earth Official for forgiveness.
Thus, this day is also known as the Earth Official’s Pardon.
But where does the Earth Official get such authority? So, he reported it to the Heavenly Court. The Jade Emperor felt that people should have the chance to reform and that lifelong education should be intensified. Since everyone was asking for it, why not go with the will of the people and set this day as a joint festival for the deities and ghosts of Heaven and Earth, with all deities and Buddhas coming together for the act of pardon, saving those who can be saved."
Buddhism practitioners also celebrate the Mid-Yuan Festival, but they refer to it as the Ullambana Festival."
Puzzled, Qin Shou asked, "I can understand the Daoists celebrating this festival, but why are the Buddhists also involved on this day?"
