Rabbit Must Die

Chapter 493: Chapter 106: Go Back and Drink More_1

After the ghost left, Mengpo stopped in her tracks, unmoved by how the ghosts in front of her urged her to continue.

After staring into space for about the length of half an incense stick burning, Mengpo sighed, glanced at Qin Shou with a look full of sympathy.

Then, Mengpo resumed dispensing Mengpo’s Soup, and the ghosts continued to drink...

Just then, Qin Shou slapped his thigh and exclaimed, "I finally see clearly, haha... This is Naihe Bridge! Haha... Eh... I, Cao... What bridge?"

Qin Shou slapped his forehead, looking bewildered as he gazed at the large bucket in his hand, then at Mengpo behind him who wore a kind and benevolent smile. Qin Shou let out a howl, set down the large bucket, and madly slapped his own head, crying out, "I am Qin Shou, I am Qin Shou, yes, I am Qin Shou, I am a rabbit, I want to see Chang’e..."

Muttering and rambling, he hopped around crazily on the bridge for quite some time...

The ghosts waiting to drink Mengpo’s Soup and the Ghost Soldiers and Ghost Messengers guarding Naihe Bridge watched Qin Shou behave this way, looking at each other cluelessly, not understanding what was happening.

The Ghost Soldiers silently shook their heads in agreement.

Ghost Soldier A lamented, "Ah, Mengpo must have changed the formula again."

Ghost Soldier B said, "Really, Mengpo should just stick with the old formula if it works. She changes it every so often. Each time it’s stronger than before; what exactly is she up to?"

Ghost Soldier C spoke up, "I have no clue, but this guy has gone completely mad after drinking. How are we going to explain this to Yama if he asks? All the ghosts that make it here came from Hell, suffering without having sinned... This just isn’t right."

Ghost Soldier D commented, "He’s truly gone insane, haven’t seen anyone curse themselves as a brute after finishing Mengpo’s Soup, and he seems to enjoy it so much..."

The crowd of Ghost Soldiers nodded, expressing their agreement.

...

While the Ghost Soldiers were busy discussing, the rabbit suddenly burst into a loud laugh, "Indeed, I haven’t forgotten, haha..."

After saying that, the rabbit, very satisfied, patted his belly then picked up the remaining half bucket of Mengpo’s Soup and drank it all in one gulp!

Seeing this, many Ghost Soldiers turned their gazes towards Mengpo, filled with understanding, as if to say, you really need to increase the potency!

To the surprise of all the Ghost Soldiers, Mengpo, who usually seemed indifferent to everything and maintained the same demeanor, was looking at the rabbit in front of her today with a smile full of kindness, as if she were looking at a dear family member, very warm and friendly.

The many Ghost Soldiers looked at each other, utterly confused about what was going on.

Just then, Qin Shou, after finishing Mengpo’s Soup, ran up to Mengpo and asked with a smile, "Is this Naihe Bridge?"

Mengpo nodded and answered, "Indeed, it is."

Qin Shou pointed at Mengpo and asked, "Then you are Mengpo?"

Mengpo nodded again and confirmed, "Indeed, I am."

Qin Shou laughed heartily and said, "Then, this must be Mengpo’s Soup?"

Mengpo continued to nod.

Qin Shou laughed even more joyously and exclaimed, "So Mengpo’s Soup tastes like hot and spicy soup, haha... Now I understand, now I understand... The taste is really nice."

Mengpo smiled and asked, "Do you like drinking it?"

Qin Shou gave a thumbs-up and declared, "Like it? I love it!"

Mengpo inquired, "Would you like to take some back with you?"

Qin Shou’s eyes lit up, and he immediately rummaged through the Black Demon Box, eventually pulling out the Dragon Hiding Cauldron.

The bronze dragon no longer resided in the Dragon Hiding Cauldron; instead, it had become Kui San’s beloved toy and weapon, something Kui San almost never put down, day or night.

In response, Qin Shou just warned him not to touch the pearl in the dragon’s mouth, and to do whatever he pleased with the rest.

Therefore, the Dragon Hiding Cauldron was empty. Guided by the principle that leaving it empty was a waste, Qin Shou didn’t consider how valuable the cauldron was at all and simply placed it in front of Mengpo, boldly declaring, "Come on, fill it up!"

Mengpo was taken aback once again, then shook her head and said, "I don’t have enough to fill it today, come back tomorrow."

Even so, Mengpo still gave Qin Shou a good amount of Mengpo’s Soup and cautioned him, "Don’t give it to anyone else; if they forget everything, don’t blame Granny for not warning you."

"Thanks a lot, Granny, haha..." Qin Shou, happy as could be, carried the Dragon Hiding Cauldron off quickly, but after running quite a distance, he realized he’d run in the wrong direction. However, when he turned back, he found to his dismay that he seemed unable to find his way back.

"Once on the Naihe Bridge, what’s the harm? It only adds to the worries," a voice rang out, followed by a Ghost Messenger in official attire and a smile that was not quite a smile, blocking Qin Shou’s path.

Qin Shou asked, "What do you want?"

The pale-faced and rather handsome Ghost Messenger, with no expression but a smile in his eyes, looked at Qin Shou and asked, "Did you drink it?"

Qin Shou glanced back at the old lady, then at the Ghost Messenger, and replied, "Drink what?"

"Mengpo’s Soup," the Ghost Messenger said.

"I drank it. It tasted quite good, like spicy hot soup," Qin Shou answered.

The Ghost Messenger frowned, snorted coldly, and said, "You haven’t drunk it, go back and drink more!"

When Qin Shou looked back again, indeed, the scene behind him had changed, allowing him to see Mengpo once more.

However, Qin Shou wasn’t in a hurry to go back. He was extremely curious about what lay beyond the Naihe Bridge. Could it really be the Six Paths of Reincarnation? And if it really was, could he directly seek rebirth as a celestial being and enter the Heavenly Court?

At the thought, Qin Shou’s heart grew fiery with anticipation.

Yet the Ghost Messenger on the bridge with that non-smiling smile could be somewhat troublesome; Qin Shou couldn’t sense his cultivation base, but it was clearly not low.

The Naihe Bridge and the Six Paths of Reincarnation were the most mysterious and most taboo locations of the Netherworld and even all of Hell. Without the token from the Emperor of the Perdition City, not even the Yama Kings of Ten Halls could enter. Thus, Qin Shou clearly understood that the half-useless token he held was probably of no use.

Force his way through?

That was even less likely. If he really started a fight here, the Emperor of the Perdition City would smack him himself. No matter how this was framed, it would be his loss.

Moreover, that Ghost Messenger with the non-smiling smile gave Qin Shou a sense of insurmountable mistake; the fellow’s strength was definitely frighteningly strong, otherwise, he wouldn’t be stationed here at the Naihe Bridge.

However, not entering to take a look after reaching the door was something Qin Shou couldn’t bear.

So, struck by inspiration, Qin Shou took up the cauldron and drank another mouthful of Mengpo’s Soup, then continued forward.

Indeed, after walking a few steps, the scene behind him vanished.

The same rather pretentious voice echoed once more, "Once on the Naihe Bridge, what’s the harm? It only adds to the worries."

Then the Ghost Messenger, in his ghostly official uniform and non-smiling smile, reappeared. Seeing Qin Shou, he asked again, "Did you drink it?"

Qin Shou countered, "Drink what?"

"Mengpo’s Soup," the Ghost Messenger said.

"I didn’t drink it," Qin Shou replied subconsciously. As soon as he said it, he regretted it; that wasn’t the way to pretend to have amnesia!

As expected, the Ghost Messenger snorted coldly and said, "Go back and drink it again!"

Then with a wave of his hand, the Ghost Messenger sent Qin Shou back to a spot not far behind Mengpo; he looked at Mengpo, then at the far side of the bridge.
