Chapter 477: Chapter 90 Strike First, Ask Later_1
Then, the vicious rabbit started swinging the Funeral Stick at Black Impermanence’s head, violently beating him until screams of agony rang out. As his Soul Power was scattering, the rabbit greedily consumed it all.
Just moments ago, Black Impermanence had been lively, but now he had been battered into a dazed state, barely able to stand. Watching this, the hungry ghosts retreated in fear, wishing they could hide in the deepest part of the doorway.
Humans fear ghosts because ghosts eat humans! Similarly, ghosts fear those who eat ghosts!
Therefore, the rabbit was now more terrifying than the hungry ghosts. They all shrunk back, not daring to look at the rabbit directly, fearing that catching its attention would lead them to be devoured as well.
Upon seeing this, White Impermanence hastily reached for the rabbit’s neck to grab the Soul-locking Chain. With a forceful yank, there was a clanging sound!
The rabbit didn’t budge!
White Impermanence felt like he was trying to move a mountain, completely unable to pull it!
When he looked up, he saw the rabbit turning its head to look at him, its gaze landing on White Impermanence, flashing a sharp glint in an instant!
Realizing the danger, White Impermanence turned to flee, but the rabbit yanked the Soul-locking Chain with such force that White Impermanence, who hadn’t managed to let go in time, was pulled over. Without any superfluous words, the rabbit smacked him on the head with the Funeral Stick!
White Impermanence only felt a buzzing in his head, his mind went blank, followed by an excruciating pain, and his Soul Power began dispersing uncontrollably.
Seeing this, Qin Shou burst into laughter and exclaimed, "This is great, this is excellent! The black one is done for, and now there’s a white one! How wonderful!"
Only then did White Impermanence realize that Black Impermanence had been beaten to the point where his Soul Power was nearly gone, the whole guy dazed and confused.
Others might not understand the might of the Funeral Stick, but White Impermanence did; after all, he wielded it daily. The exact origin of the Funeral Stick is obscure—said to be even older than the current Netherworld, crafted from the branch of a divine tree in the depths of darkness by a powerful being.
As a weapon of a Yin God from the Netherworld, the Funeral Stick didn’t possess any earth-shattering powers. However, once it struck a person, it had the ability to scatter their soul and banish their spirit, immediately causing the soul to leave the body and lose control of the flesh, and inflicted pain deep into the soul.
If it hit a ghost, it would scatter their Soul Power. As the foundation of a soul, the dispersion of Soul Power would weaken and even cause death to the spirit. However, the Funeral Stick was ultimately a Yin God’s tool for capturing ghosts, not a weapon for killing them. Therefore, it was imposed with restrictions, such that when the target’s Soul Power fell to a certain low level, it would no longer scatter the Soul Power and would at most hinder the recovery of the target’s Soul Power.
For example, Black Impermanence as a Yin God of the Netherworld, and being outside the Ghost Gate where Yin energy was abundant, could recover to his peak state with just the time for half a stick of incense. In just a few breaths, he could at least puff out his chest, hold up his head, and curse confidently...
Regrettably, the rabbit, whether crazed or possessed, didn’t stop pounding their heads with the Funeral Stick. Both of them had their Soul Power instantly scattered cleanly, barely maintaining life, yet suffering as if dying. Only at this moment did they realize how miserable the days of those unfortunate ghosts they captured, tormented with the Funeral Stick for sport, truly were.
Qin Shou, striking left and right, gave a flick of his wrist, looping the chain around Black Impermanence’s neck, while grabbing White Impermanence’s tongue, leading both with his left hand. With his right hand, like driving horses, he whipped them continuously, smacking them for an hour straight!
Throughout that hour, their wails of agony never ceased, terrifying the evil spirits atop the Ghost Gate to the point where they turned around, burying their heads inside the door, not daring to look outside. Thus, the gate took on a peculiar appearance...
Originally, the gate of the Ghost Gate was adorned with the Picture of the Demons’ Night Parade, as if countless ghosts were about to burst through the Ghost Gate, which was quite frightening.
But now, it had become the Demons’ Butts Appraisal Book, with all sorts of butts, big or small, lined up in rows and columns, a sight particularly harsh on the eyes.
Qin Shou just took one glance and couldn’t help but poke a chrysanthemum with his Funeral Stick...
From inside the gate there came a refreshing cry, and Qin Shou grinned, saying, "Hey, that sounded quite seductive."
After saying that, Qin Shou glanced at Black and White Impermanence, narrowed his eyes, pulled out a chair to sit on, crossed his legs, ate his carrot, and asked, "Out with it, what exactly are you two? Where is this? How come I am here?"
Qin Shou had already sensed that something was off, initially planning on joking around to ask what was going on, but after realizing he was surrounded by weaklings, he changed his mind. First, make them submit wholeheartedly, then asking would be much easier.
However...
"Damn rabbit, do you have any idea where this is?" Just as White Impermanence had imagined, after Black Impermanence caught his breath, he immediately regained his spirit, forgetting that he was just beaten like a damn dog and arrogantly shouted.
Seeing this, White Impermanence quickly put some distance between himself and Black Impermanence.
Qin Shou narrowed his eyes and asked with a smile, "What place is this, eh?"
With a haughty gesture, Black Impermanence pointed at the gate of Ghost Gate and said, "Netherworld, Ghost Gate! I am Black Impermanence! He is..."
After speaking, Black Impermanence pointed at White Impermanence, who hurriedly shook his head and waved his hands, saying, "Don’t misunderstand. I’m not close with him. And Black Impermanence, I can introduce myself. Greetings, I am the Netherworld’s Soul Reaver, White Impermanence. You can just call me Bai."
Black Impermanence was stunned for a moment and frowned saying, "Bai, you..."
No sooner had the sound left his lips than a gust of strong wind blew in his face, Black Impermanence suddenly looked up to see a white Funeral Stick coming down!
Then smack! Black Impermanence was knocked to the ground, followed by an utterly societal rabbit charging forward, punching and kicking, hammering with the stick, all the while shouting, "Pulling my soul out of thin air! And scaring me, do you think I was scared big? Putting on airs with me? There are so many Heavenly Gods in the Heavenly Court, none as pretentious as you, take that, adah!"
"Ah..."
...
An hour later, the rabbit once again sat back in the chair, Black Impermanence was lying on the ground half-dead, and Bai, who had managed to scrounge up some fruit, came up obsequiously offering it, saying, "Lord Rabbit, do you have any more questions? Just ask me, I’ll definitely tell all without holding back."
Hearing this, Black Impermanence immediately rolled his eyes at Bai. If he had the strength to speak, he probably would have cursed out loud.
With a flick of his hand, Bai silenced Black Impermanence’s mouth with a strip of white cloth.
Qin Shou was very satisfied with Bai’s reaction and nodded, "Go on, what is all this about? How did I, a perfectly fine rabbit, end up here?"
