White Impermanence chuckled, "Go ahead, I’ll collect your corpse."
Black Impermanence: "..."
White Impermanence said, "Alright, let’s talk about that rabbit."
Black Impermanence rolled his eyes, "What’s there to say about a rabbit? The boss has always been just and fair, treating all creatures equally. Since he arrived, what kind of ghosts haven’t we hooked? Didn’t we catch a turtle last time? And the time before that, didn’t you bring back the soul of a rat? And the time before that, I seem to recall going after a pig’s head, right?"
White Impermanence rolled his eyes as well, "Your skill at bootlicking has certainly improved, ’treating all creatures equally’ indeed. Isn’t it clear that he only gets to work when he’s drunk, whoever he stumbles upon is who we go after, right?"
Black Impermanence replied with resignation, "Same thing, same thing, do you dare to say that when others ask?"
White Impermanence was speechless for a moment. Eventually, both of them sighed and set foot on the Road to the Netherworld, exited through the Ghost Gate, took out a Soul-locking Compass, confirmed their direction, and dashed off.
That night, Qin Shou and Li Zhenying chatted until late, and in the end, feeling sorry for the girl, he let Li Zhenying go to sleep.
He sat alone on the Dragon Hiding Cauldron, bored, glanced at Kui San, who was sleeping not far away, snoring like thunder, and then at Lady Diyong, who was cuddling with Li Zhenying for a little nap.
Qin Shou couldn’t help shaking his head and muttered, "It’s nice to be carefree."
Having said that, Qin Shou looked up at the sky, gazing at the bright moon above, resting his chin in his hands, and asked, "Silly girl, are you doing alright? Don’t worry, the next time I return, I’ll make sure no one in this world can ever tear us apart! Not even that old geezer Gouchen!"
After finishing, Qin Shou lay back on the cauldron, pillowed his hands behind his head, and fell into a deep sleep.
While sleeping, Qin Shou suddenly shivered and then seemed to hear the clanking of chains and someone’s sinister laughter...
"Hehe, is this the rabbit?"
"It looks like it, he’s really plump!"
"Bai, it’s a pity he died just like that."
"Black, you’ve got a point. It’s been a while since we had barbecue, this rabbit would be all juicy when roasted."
"How about it?"
"Hehe..."
"Stop talking, let’s hook out the soul first, then we can go for a barbecue!"
...
Then Qin Shou felt something cold drape over his neck as if something had been hung there. In a haze, half-awake, he squinted his eyes, just in time to see two figures, one black and one white, swaying in front of him, with the black figure seeming to tug forcefully at something.
The white figure appeared to have wrapped a red scarf around his neck, continually wiping away drool sliding down from the corner of his mouth with a handkerchief.
At that moment, the black figure complained, "Something’s not right, the body’s coming along with the pull. This rabbit’s soul seems to be one with its body, and I can’t pull it out."
The white figure wiping his drool said, "Don’t bother with that, just take him away. It’s the same if we roast him down below. After all, he’s going to end up in our stomachs, it’s all the same wherever we eat."
"Fine by me," the dark figure replied, and began dragging Qin Shou down into the ground.
Suddenly, Qin Shou woke up with a start and yelled, "Who?!"
His eyes wide open, Qin Shou finally saw his surroundings clearly. He quickly looked around and found himself engulfed in pitch darkness, with the rich scent of earth filling his nostrils. It was obvious he was underground!
Then he heard the clinking of chains, and slowly a massive door emerged from the soil, adorned with countless tormented spirits and ferocious ghosts. They were screaming and clawing at the air, and above the door were several large characters - Ghost Gate!
Qin Shou’s mind went blank; he couldn’t fathom how he ended up here after just falling asleep.
Just then, one of the skulls on the Ghost Gate stretched out a skeletal hand towards Qin Shou’s face!
Watching from the shadows, Black Impermanence chuckled and sent a telepathic message, "Bai, you think this little rabbit is going to piss himself?"
White Impermanence chuckled along, "I think he’s already scared stiff. Look, he’s not even moving."
"I just love seeing them scream their heads off, so thrilling. I’ve been watching for years and still can’t get enough. I’m looking forward to it... little rabbit, let’s hear you scream," Black Impermanence muttered, utterly shameless.
White Impermanence was also rubbing his hands together in excitement.
Clearly, these two old men had... somewhat special predilections.
Just as the two were gleefully looking forward to the show, the rabbit suddenly cursed loudly, "Damn your grandma, who are you trying to scare?"
Then the rabbit grabbed the skeleton’s hand and, to the skeleton’s obvious surprise — as he’d never seen such a fierce rabbit before, not to mention a rabbit ghost carrying a Soul Hooking Chain — the experience was quite unexpected. According to his past encounters, at this moment, the rabbit should have been crying and begging to go home, right?
Not giving the skeleton a chance to ponder, the rabbit yanked hard, and with a snap, actually pulled the skeleton’s hand off. Then, like swinging a club, the rabbit brought it down hard on the skeleton’s head!
There was a loud thunk!
The skeleton was left seeing stars, a mix of bewilderment and grievance on its face, and roared in indignation, "How can you hit someone like that?!"
Qin Shou paused, then leaped up, swung his arms, and started pounding on the skeleton’s head, shouting as he did so, "Hit someone? Do you even count as a person? Have you looked at yourself in a mirror? And what exactly are you? Where am I? You’d better explain, or I’ll make a bone broth from you to get my calcium!"
"Brothers, this rabbit is bullying me, avenge me!" the skeleton head cried out, feeling wronged.
Other demons and ghosts on the door turned around, especially a Cyclops who stepped out of the gate, half his body emerging as he rebuked, "Rabbit, do not be impudent!"
The other ghosts shouted their support.
However, no sooner had the cheers begun than the rabbit leaped up, brandished the skeleton’s arm, and struck the Cyclops across the face with an audible slap!
With a wail, the Cyclops bellowed, "Rabbit, you have angered..."
He didn’t get to finish his sentence because the onlookers saw the rabbit grab the Cyclops’ single horn and forcefully pushed his head down into the ground with a thud. The rabbit then stood on its head, kicking it wildly, and didn’t forget to hit the skeleton’s head a few times with the bone club in his hand.
When the remaining ghosts tried to emerge, Qin Shou ripped off another leg bone from someone and brandished it. His eyes lit up as he burst into laughter.
The other ghosts didn’t understand why the rabbit was laughing, but they thought they saw an opportunity and charged forward!
Qin Shou, however, was not alarmed but overjoyed. With a bone club in each hand like drumsticks, he swung backhandedly, beating the intruding ghosts like drums, bashing their heads and sending them howling back into the gate.
