Chapter 45: Chapter 45 The Fool Running in the Sunset_1
Therefore, Qin Shou was confident before taking action and was neither showing off without reason nor taking a gamble.
Passing the Southern Gate, there was a golden corridor, with nothingness on either side, and it was unknown what exactly lay beyond.
Yunkong True Master thickened his skin and sidled up, saying, "Fairy, Rabbit, the matter just now..."
Chang’e and Qin Shou simultaneously tilted their heads back and shook their heads, ignoring him.
Likely thinking, he had just sided with Mo Lishou, now he comes over?
No one would bother with him!
Yunkong True Master’s face was indeed thick, seeing that the two of them ignored him, he did not step away but instead saw the curious gaze of Qin Shou and Chang’e, then, with a slight smile, said, "The bridge we are currently crossing is called the Bridge of Heaven. This bridge looks simple, but it is actually a bridge between two worlds!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou’s ears involuntarily perked up.
Seeing this, Yunkong True Master thought to himself that there was a chance, so he continued, "One end of the Bridge of Heaven connects to the mortal starry sky, that is, the location of the Southern Gate, while the other end is the site of the true Heavenly Court! To be precise, that place should not be called Heavenly Court, it should be called Immortal Realm. However, the entire Immortal Realm is governed by the Heavenly Court, and since everyone generally considers it to be the Heavenly Court, they all refer to it as the Heavenly Court."
Qin Shou then understood that he had passed the Southern Gate but had not yet entered the Heavenly Court. Furthermore, Heavenly Court was not just a heavenly court but a world!
After walking for a while, another large gate appeared ahead. The gate was entirely composed of light, and Qin Shou saw many rogue immortals walking straight into it, passing through the gate and disappearing on the other side.
Qin Shou and Chang’e exchanged glances, both seeing the curiosity in each other’s eyes, and Chang’e unconsciously quickened her pace.
Like glue, Yunkong True Master hurriedly followed.
Chang’e stepped into the gate of light, and Qin Shou, along with her, involuntarily closed his eyes. Before he could open them, Qin Shou felt a gust of wind coming towards him, followed by the smell of an incredibly fresh air, sweet as nectar. The gas entered his lungs, and every cell in his body seemed to be activated from slumber, eagerly fighting for the Yuan Qi contained in that breath!
Qin Shou suddenly opened his eyes, exclaiming, "Such rich Yuan Qi, so much from one breath?!"
Without caring about anything else, Qin Shou opened his mouth wide and began to inhale deeply, greedily!
It was as if a man who had been wandering in the desert for countless years suddenly saw an endless lake, and his madness made him wish he could drink up all the water in one go!
Chang’e, too, had a shocked expression on her face, obviously, she did not expect the Yuan Qi of Heavenly Court to be so abundant. Every breath was composed of Yuan Qi, nourishing her organs and entire body. For years, she had been taking care of the Rabbit, always in a state of Yuan Qi deficit and vitality loss, with increasing white hair being the least of her concerns – her skin had also changed, no longer as perfect as before. But at this moment, her unique constitution seemed to have been awakened, beginning to automatically absorb the Yuan Qi around her. A visible vortex of air appeared around her body, as if drawing the Yuan Qi into her. This attracted more than a few sidelong glances...
However, what really shocked them was the Rabbit in Chang’e’s arms. The air around the Rabbit was completely distorted, like a small vortex rapidly absorbing the Yuan Qi from the surroundings and expanding – getting bigger and bigger!
Upon seeing this, Yunkong True Master got scared and quickly retreated.
The crowd looked at each other. Eventually an old Immortal murmured, "To what extent must one be starving for their body to start absorbing Yuan Qi to such an extent spontaneously?"
"It’s probably because the physical body hasn’t absorbed Yuan Qi for too long, and it started to absorb spontaneously. It will adjust after a while," the old Immortal said.
Everyone nodded slightly.
Just then, the vortexes surrounding Qin Shou and Chang’e began to shrink before finally disappearing.
The two exchanged glances, each seeing the refreshed look in the other’s eyes, and they exhaled deeply, exclaiming in unison, "Refreshing!"
Qin Shou was truly refreshed. Neither he nor the silly rabbit’s memory had ever experienced such a luxurious absorption of the Yuan Qi of heaven and earth like today.
However, Qin Shou understood that although his body had stopped absorbing Yuan Qi so voraciously, he was still significantly deficient in Yuan Qi. It was like a very thick sponge that, once pressed into water, would absorb water rapidly, but after a certain point, the rate of absorption would slow down.
It wasn’t that he wasn’t lacking water, but rather that after the body absorbed to a certain extent, it would slow down. Essentially, he was still lacking water!
Qin Shou’s illness hadn’t suddenly gotten better; he just didn’t have to worry about starving to death tomorrow.
Raising his head, Qin Shou looked towards the distance, but he was stunned by the scenery before him!
Contrary to the classic, impressive architecture with carved beams and painted rafters he had imagined, there was actually a vast grassland before him! The grassland was blooming with exotic flowers and strange herbs, spreading out in patches...
In the distance stood towering snow-capped mountains, reaching into the clouds, vaguely allowing the sight of rare birds flying above.
The sky was a clear blue, with clouds dotting it. Further away, there were high mountains floating in the sky, seemingly with huge palaces atop them.
Even further away was a sea of auspicious clouds, upon which floated a massive, seemingly endless palace complex that appeared and disappeared within the clouds...
The sun hung high, and its rays lit up the whole world with vivid colors...
It was a breathtakingly beautiful painting!
At that moment, a grand bell tone resonated from afar, the sound melodious and soul-stirring, majestic and solemn!
"That’s the bell of the Middle Prime Festival’s grand gathering, that was the first toll, and when the ninth toll sounds, it signifies that the gathering has begun. Let’s hurry over, or we’ll be late, won’t be able to get in, and will even be punished for it!" the old Immortal said.
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou’s heart tightened. He was about to ask an Immortal to fly them over, but then he saw the old Immortals and others lift their skirts and take off running with big strides!
Yunkong True Master, aware that Qin Shou and Chang’e had never been to Heavenly Court, explained, "Within Heavenly Court, only the Great Golden Immortals are allowed to fly and freely use magic. So the rest of us have to run..."
After his words, Yunkong True Master also started to run.
For a moment, the beautiful grassland was amusingly overrun with Immortals clad in flowing robes, lifting their skirts as they sprinted along. Even more outrageous was the fact that their accompanying creatures such as flying tigers and flying elephants were running amok. What truly astonished Qin Shou was the sight of several Immortal Cranes stretching their broad wings and striding along with their long legs in the run! The scene was as ridiculous as it gets...
Qin Shou’s expression immediately turned to one of disdain as he muttered under his breath, "A beautiful painting has been ruined by these fools running in the sunset, such a pity..."
