Chapter 443: Chapter 56 Goodbye, no need to see you out!_1
However, Qin Shou felt that Yao Sanqian must be an idiot, otherwise he wouldn’t have dared to provoke the Heavenly Court.
Although many people say that the Heavenly Court was destroyed, Qin Shou didn’t believe that one bit. Not to mention the numerous Overlords in Heavenly Court. Just its composition alone was enough to be frightening—it was a Heavenly Court that combined four different sects, supported by a line of Saints behind it, constructed by order of the Hongjun Patriarch himself.
With such a terrifying background, who could possibly destroy the Heavenly Court?
So, Qin Shou thought that Yao Sanqian was either a fool being used by someone else, someone who was deluded into thinking he’s smart; or he was actually a wise man capable of breaking the current deadlock.
But Qin Shou was more inclined to believe he was a fool.
Placing one’s life in the hands of a fool’s intelligence, even Qin Shou felt that was unreliable.
Therefore, Qin Shou didn’t pay much attention to it and casually asked, "Oh really, do you know which Heavenly God it is?"
Ghost Twelve shook his head while Ghost Three suddenly exclaimed, "Although I don’t know which Heavenly God it is, I heard that fairy has been inquiring about a certain rabbit’s whereabou... ugh ugh, let go..."
Before Ghost Three could finish, a rabbit suddenly appeared in front of them, clutching his neck tightly, its eyes blood-red as it demanded, "Is she really inquiring about a rabbit’s whereabouts?"
Ghost Three nodded frantically.
The Rabbit paid no heed to him and roared, "Stop nodding and speak clearly!"
Ghost Three looked pitifully at Qin Shou, his tongue sticking out.
Lead Ghost cautiously said, "Lord Rabbit, you might want to ease up on his neck a bit so he can speak properly."
It was then that Qin Shou realized he was almost choking Ghost Three to death. After clearing his throat, he quickly let go and demanded, "Speak!"
The twelve ghosts now understood; this Rabbit must be the one the fairy was looking for. Realizing this, they all felt their scalps tingle. They had just gone to enjoy the spectacle, but now, they found themselves caught up in the turmoil between the Heavenly Court and Yao Sanqian!
This hole was a little too deep, and none of them wanted to be involved.
So, the Lead Ghost said, "Lord Rabbit, there’s no harm in telling you, and we can reveal anything you wish to know. But we ask for a favor in return."
Grinding his teeth, Qin Shou said, "Count to three, three counts to speak, or today I’ll stew the twelve of you into a tortoise soup!"
The moment the twelve ghosts heard this, they were a bit panicked, but the Lead Ghost clenched his teeth and firmly stated, "Lord Rabbit, you must agree to our request. Otherwise, whether we die by your hand or someone else’s, we’re dead either way—better to die sooner and be liberated."
Qin Shou was taken aback, not expecting the Lead Ghost to be so bold, and seeing their earnest expressions, he knew they weren’t playing tricks.
Taking a deep breath and suppressing the anxiety in his heart, Qin Shou said, "Alright, speak."
Lead Ghost said, "It’s simple. We’ll tell you everything we know, but in return, you have to let us go. And you have to swear that you won’t tell anyone else we’re the ones who told you. From now on, you follow your fairway, we walk our tight-rope, we don’t interfere with each other’s business, and act as though we’ve never met. Deal?"
Qin Shou didn’t expect the Lead Ghost’s request to be this. Nonetheless, he nodded, "No problem!"
Lead Ghost insisted, "Swear."
With a resigned expression, Qin Shou raised a paw and declared, "I swear to Heaven, if I speak of today’s events to anyone, may lightning strike me down!"
Lead Ghost responded, "Good, I trust you. I also swear that everything I’ve said today is true. If any of it is false, may lightning strike me down, leaving me without a burial place."
Qin Shou didn’t expect the Lead Ghost to be so gutsy and even began to admire him, but there wasn’t time for anything else. He urged, "Hurry up and tell me!"
Lead Ghost said, "You already know what I mentioned before. As far as we know, that fairy is currently surrounded at Xiankong Mountain. However, there’s someone in Xiankong Mountain helping her, so they can’t catch her right away. But Yao Sanqian has many capable subordinates, and there are masters assisting in secret; it’s estimated she’ll be caught soon."
At this point, the lead ghost paused, casting a glance at Huanglong Daoist. It was clear that the "expert" he mentioned wasn’t just any Earthly Immortal; it was very likely that there were Heavenly Immortals involved, perhaps even ones similar to Huanglong!
At the same time, the lead ghost hesitated, wanting to say more but stopping himself as though he had other things on his mind.
Qin Shou frowned and said, "Just speak your mind. Although I, Rabbit, may not have the best character, when it comes to keeping promises, there’s no issue."
The lead ghost bowed and said, "In that case, I will speak frankly. Based on what I know about Yao Sanqian, capturing a minor fairy shouldn’t be difficult. It’s unlikely he would have chased her for so long without success.
There must be something fishy going on.
If I’m not mistaken, this might be a trap, intending to lure more Heavenly Gods and then annihilate them in one fell swoop!"
Qin Shou nodded, as he had also considered this possibility, so he wasn’t surprised.
Ghost Twelve said, "Hunting Heavenly Gods is not a new endeavor. It was only shocking the first time. As more people began slaying Heavenly Gods, his acts no longer attracted enough attention. This time, he really might be using that fairy as bait, aiming for a big catch!
They aim to kill not just one or two Heavenly Gods but perhaps even fish for the big ones to slay even more formidable Heavenly Gods!
Rabbit, think it through. It’s definitely a huge trap! Even with this individual accompanying us, we might not be able to return unscathed."
Qin Shou grinned and puffed up his chest, declaring haughtily, "Since that fairy came looking for me and is now in peril, how can I just stand by and watch? What does danger matter? If she’s not afraid of death, how can I be one of those who crave life in fear of death?"
Upon hearing this and witnessing his demeanor, the twelve ghosts looked at Rabbit with newfound respect. They had initially indulged Rabbit out of respect for Huanglong Daoist, but now they sincerely bowed to Qin Shou and said, "Rabbit is truly a brave hero! We are ashamed!"
Qin Shou waved his hand dominantly and said, "This no longer concerns you. Leave now."
The twelve ghosts once again bowed to Qin Shou and Huanglong Daoist and then turned, riding away on rolling black clouds.
After they were far away, Huanglong Daoist’s eyelids drooped, and the corner of his mouth twitched, but he said nothing, casually gazing into the distance.
Rabbit still stood tall, poised to rush to Xiankong Mountain to rescue the fairy at any moment.
One minute passed...
The two remained in the same stance.
Five minutes went by.
Huanglong Daoist yawned but remained silent.
Rabbit was starting to feel stiff.
Ten minutes passed.
Suddenly, Rabbit turned and yelled, "Old Huang! Aren’t you going to say something?"
Huanglong Daoist nodded slightly and said, "Alright, let’s go to Deer Hunting Plain and look for clues about Chiyou. Gungun, sniff around later, make sure we don’t miss any trace of Chiyou."
Having said that, Huanglong Daoist started to leave.
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou became anxious and called out, "Old Huang, I need to go rescue someone!"
Huanglong Daoist nodded and then, bowing to Qin Shou, said, "Well then, have a safe journey. I won’t see you off."
