Rabbit Must Die -
Chapter 424 - 37: To Be Your Ancestor_1
Chapter 424: Chapter 37: To Be Your Ancestor_1
The old trickster was startled and didn’t grasp Qin Shou’s intention, but after thinking for a bit, he said, "They are evenly matched, and unless Yao Bofu really summons the ancestor box, they could fight for three days and nights without a clear winner."
Qin Shou clapped his hands and exclaimed, "Perfect! Let’s go!"
After saying that, Qin Shou packed up the sofa, grabbed the old trickster and the Monkey with each hand, and ran off.
Sun Wukong didn’t understand what was happening, but the old trickster looked up, caught a glimpse of the direction the Rabbit had darted off, and suddenly realized, chuckling, "Rabbit, you’re the sneakiest! Hehe..."
In the sky, Yao Bofu and Gouyun continued bickering, drawing everyone’s attention. While people may have noticed the departure of the Rabbit and the other two, no one really cared.
After all, Yao Bofu and Gouyun were the main event of the day.
Of course, there was someone who did care, and that was Ao Sui, pinned under the Golden Cudgel.
Once the Golden Cudgel was lifted, he finally crawled out, sat on the ground looking around, with a lost look in his eyes.
He really wanted to show off again, but with Gouyun and Yao Bofu wielding nature spirit treasures, he didn’t really have anything to brag about.
In the end, he let out a long sigh and walked away dejectedly, but not before cursing, "damn rabbit!"
Qin Shou led the old trickster and Sun Wukong straight into the Lingling Ancient City, and without pausing, they headed directly for Jiuyi Mountain in the center.
Having been here before, and with no high-level cultivators beneath the rank of Heavenly Immortal present, the trio easily blended into the mountain.
As they passed Sanxi Mound, laughter from Gouyun erupted behind them, followed by Yao Bofu’s furious roar, then the earth shook and the mountains trembled—clearly, the two had started fighting.
Wukong glanced back and smacked his lips, "What a pity, missing out on a good fight."
Qin Shou replied indifferently, "Fighting is for naughty children. Let’s get a move on, the sooner we go, the sooner we get back, and avoid getting caught red-handed. Otherwise, it won’t just be about missing out but joining in."
After crossing over a small hill and guessing they were out of sight, they were about to ’Ride the Cloud, Drive the Mist’ when they heard someone yelling from below the mountain, "Flying on the mountain, do you all not want to live?"
The trio was stunned. Were there still people here?
Looking down, they saw a huge boulder as big as a small hill on the mountainside, with an opening like a dragon’s gaping maw. Someone had piled up some massive rocks on the boulder, in front of which was a small lake, and amid it all stood a modest thatched hut. In front of that hut was an old man, blowing his beard and staring at them with bulging eyes.
The old trickster rubbed his eyes and said, "Did you guys see this place last time you were here?"
Qin Shou shook his head, "We were following the crowd and didn’t pay attention."
Sun Wukong said, "I’ve never been here."
The old trickster thought carefully and said, "Last time, even though this place was open, on reflection, everyone had been duped. The Yu Family had arranged countless men and women to form a human wall, reciting ancient poetry with imposing momentum in memory of Emperor Shun. We walked along the pathway formed by these people, all the way up the mountain, our attention completely drawn to it, and with the crowd pushing us forward, we didn’t notice the surroundings at all.
Moreover, if I’m not mistaken, the Yu Family must have activated a Formation, making it impossible for us to see the surroundings clearly.
Otherwise, with my memory, I wouldn’t have this unfamiliar feeling wherever I go."
Qin Shou nodded, "That makes sense, but what about this old man?"
The old trickster replied, "Ignore him. Let’s just do our thing. What do we care what he does?"
Sun Wukong suggested, "Shall we finish him with a single strike?"
Qin Shou rolled his eyes and leaped down, saying, "Can’t we be a bit more decent? Let’s go down and take a look."
Hearing that, the old trickster cursed, "You have the nerve to talk about being decent? Seems like it was your idea to sneak in and steal something amid the chaos..."
Qin Shou ignored him, descended the mountain, cheerfully greeted the old man, and took a seat unceremoniously on a wooden table in the man’s courtyard, pouring himself a drink from the teapot. Then he smacked his lips and said, "No tea, huh..."
The old man was clearly taken aback, having apparently never encountered such a presumptuous, shameless rabbit.
However, the old man was good-natured and chuckled, "In these deep mountains and forests, there’s no such thing as tea. I usually just brew a couple of leaves to moisten my throat. Where do you three Immortals come from, and where are you headed?"
The scammer immediately tilted his head back and said with an air of Daoist immortality, "I come from the heavens above..."
Smack!
A stone hit the scammer on the head, and he glared at Qin Shou in anger.
Qin Shou patted his dusty path and exclaimed, "What nonsense are you spouting? You even want to scam a regular old man, what can you possibly swindle from him? Can’t you change your ways?"
The scammer’s mouth twisted in irritation, and he stopped talking altogether. He hugged the teapot, tilted his head back, and found that there was nothing inside! Annoyed, he shot Qin Shou a sideways glance, as if to say, "Are you freaking kidding me?"
Sun Wukong looked at Qin Shou, then at the scammer, and finally at the old man. Realizing that the old man’s presence was just that of an ordinary person, he didn’t pay it much mind anymore.
Qin Shou sat on the table, waving his hand and said, "We come from all over, just regular cultivators. We’re here in the mountains to seek Shungong Stone, to pay our respects and hope the old gentleman will impart some skills to us. Brother He, what’s your name?"
Brother?
The old man was taken aback again, looking at Qin Shou with an odd expression, as if to say, a plump rabbit calling an old man like me ’brother’? Do you think it’s your time to be buried too?
Qin Shou noticed the look and chuckled, "Don’t look at me like that, if we were to really talk about age, I might be able to be your ancestor."
The scammer nodded with satisfaction and said, "Exactly, exactly... When Pangu split the heavens I watched, and outside the Purple Sky Palace I have slumbered..."
Smack!
Another stone hit the scammer on the head.
The scammer looked infuriatedly at the rabbit, "Are you ever going to stop?"
Qin Shou simply replied, "If you want to boast, there’s a bull outside, you can go and talk slowly. Stop talking nonsense here!"
The scammer turned his head and, indeed, under a big tree outside, there actually was a bull! To make matters worse, the bull even threw him a flirtatious wink and lifted its hind leg with an air of inviting him over!
The scammer hurriedly looked down at his feet and started counting ants.
Qin Shou continued, "Brother He, although this old man here loves to brag, he definitely hasn’t lived a short life. I’d estimate at least a thousand years or more."
The scammer glared, puffing out his beard, "Rabbit, are you suggesting I’m a millennia-old disaster?"
Qin Shou spread his hands, "I didn’t say that!"
The scammer was utterly speechless...
Qin Shou continued to the old man, "You see, this man is so confused he’s cursing himself."
The scammer had a look of silent resentment.
Qin Shou pointed at the Monkey and said, "Of the three of us, the Monkey is the youngest, and he must be around four hundred years old. So calling you ’Brother He’ doesn’t shortchange you!"
The old man was thoroughly amused and then pulled over a small stool to sit down, "Indeed, I’m not at a loss. Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Hua Zhongyao, and I live here. You three are going up the mountain to find Shungong Stone? Do you know that to find Shungong Stone, you must have Lady Xiang Bamboo as your guide?"
Qin Shou reached out his hand, and the scammer hummed, turning his head away haughtily, ignoring him.
Qin Shou turned around, followed him, and looked up at the scammer, continuing to extend his hand.
The scammer turned his head again, like an upset young girl.
Qin Shou followed him again, grinned, and said with a coaxing smile, "Don’t be so petty, come on, give me a smile."
