Rabbit Must Die

Chapter 406: Chapter 19 Reversal?!_1

The Black Immortal King turned his head back with tears streaming, crying out, "I, your rabbit lord, beg for mercy!"

Howbeit, the rabbit was running even faster, with eyes and voice more frantic than his, trembling, he said, "It’s gone, it’s all gone! Quick, replenish me!"

The Black Immortal King really wanted to curse his bad luck, but now he truly didn’t dare to.

For the first time, the Black Immortal King regretted messing with this rabbit and that village. If he had known the consequences would be this terrifying, wouldn’t it have been better to just squat quietly on his mountain?

Seeing the rabbit charging at him, the Black Immortal King knew he couldn’t escape, so he simply closed his eyes and awaited death! Anyway, he knew himself well, absolutely incapable of surviving a second heavenly tribulation.

Qin Shou didn’t care about all that, charging straight for the Black Immortal King. Just as he was about to touch him, the last trace of thunder on Qin Shou’s body fizzed out.

Qin Shou, watching the last spark of electricity fade from his fingertips, sighed, "Ah, too slow."

The Black Immortal King had waited for what felt like ages, but the anticipated lightning strike never came. Opening his eyes, he caught sight of the rabbit’s face, full of regret and loss. Then the rabbit shook his head, patted his shoulder with profound sympathy, and said, "Brother He, how about doing that Yuan Qi absorbing magic again?"

Upon hearing this, the Black Immortal King’s eyes rolled back, and he fainted on the spot.

Qin Shou slapped the Black Immortal King’s face to make sure he really had fainted, then casually conjured a water ball, ready to splash it on him.

That’s when Sun Wukong called out, "Rabbit, is his magic still of use to you?"

Qin Shou paused, feeling the battle strength of his ravenous cells within, and after considering the effect of the Swallow the Sea, he ultimately shook his head, "Not enough anymore, forget it."

Now, Qin Shou wasn’t fully confident in understanding his own body, but he was aware of some of its properties.

His body was stronger when hungry than when full.

Because when hungry, the cells, too, were starved. Feeding them occasionally meant they wouldn’t have to starve Qin Shou to death.

But if they were ever fully satiated, the cells’ appetite would only grow!

Just like the Yuan Qi absorbed using Swallow the Sea, when Qin Shou was at Level Four of the Eight-Nine Empyrean Art, that Yuan Qi was just enough for the cells to devour while leaving a portion for cultivation of the physical body. But now he was at Level Five of the Eight-Nine Empyrean Art, and with the significant increase in physical strength, the devouring ability of the cells had greatly improved as well.

At this point, if the same amount of Yuan Qi was infused into the body again, it wouldn’t matter if it failed to satisfy the cells; but if it was just enough to feed them without extra for cultivation, that’s where the problem lay. The cells would become greedier, and Qin Shou’s strength wouldn’t improve at all!

But whether it was absorbing Yuan Qi or going out to rob and steal Yuan Qi, medicinal ingredients, or magic treasures, strength was needed as support.

The stronger the strength, the greater the harvest, the more Yuan Qi available for the cells.

If the strength of the cells increased too quickly and his own strength couldn’t keep up, that would lead to... cellular backlash, and Qin Shou might as well wait to die!

So, since the other party couldn’t provide enough Yuan Qi for both his cells and his own strength to break through at once, Qin Shou immediately gave up on the idea of continuing to plunder from the Black Immortal King.

Sun Wukong obviously understood some of Qin Shou’s situation, which is why he asked that in the first place.

Seeing Qin Shou giving up, Sun Wukong grabbed the Black Immortal King and took off.

Qin Shou asked, "Where are you going?"

Sun Wukong made a throat-slitting gesture. Qin Shou really wanted to say not to be so violent, but then he thought of the villagers killed by the Black Immortal King at the entrance to the village and he shut his mouth.

It wasn’t long before Sun Wukong brought the Black Immortal King back. Qin Shou, puzzled, asked, "What’s going on?"

Sun Wukong said, "He claims those villagers weren’t killed by him."

Qin Shou was stunned, "Not by him? Then who killed them?"

Black Immortal King shouted, "I was saving them, not killing them."

Qin Shou, puzzled, asked, "Saving them?"

Black Immortal King said, "In this Two Realms Mountain, I’m the only demon. I’m not overly fond of eating human flesh, but I do have some interest in beautiful and attractive humans."

While talking, Black Immortal King glanced at the old swindler who was still busily bragging and trying to cheat some money. The old swindler suddenly shivered and dared not utter a sound.

Qin Shou shivered as well, unable to comprehend why Black Immortal King’s tastes were so peculiar and extreme.

Black Immortal King continued, "I’m the only one in Two Realms Mountain, but once you leave the boundaries, there are many more demons. Those who died were killed by demons from outside. I couldn’t stand it, so I snatched their bodies back and threw them at the entrance of the village."

"You hung them on trees!" the old swindler yelled, and the villagers chimed in with agreement, glaring angrily.

Black Immortal King said, "Wasn’t I just worried you wouldn’t see them? If I hang them up, wouldn’t you notice them right away?"

"What about the children you took from the village?" someone asked.

Black Immortal King said, "They were all taken to be my child servants. If you don’t believe me, go look in my cave; they’re all alive and well! And I treat them well too!"

The crowd looked at each other, disbelief written all over their faces.

The village chief said, "Then why did your little monster say he was going to kill us?"

Black Immortal King said, "If I claimed to be starting a sect and taking you as disciples, would you believe me?"

The crowd was stunned, then collectively rolled their eyes at him, believing him would be the day.

Black Immortal King said, "See? That’s what I thought. Whatever I say, you wouldn’t believe... and honestly, this king doesn’t deign to explain to you. I simply took people, taught them magic, and will release them after several years, by which time you would believe everything. Truthfully, you’re just a bunch of ordinary people. I never thought of killing you, but I didn’t think much of you either... I simply do what’s comfortable for me."

Hearing this, the villagers started to believe Black Immortal King’s words a bit more. After all, his words were direct, simple, and hurtful, but one couldn’t deny their persuasive power.

Sun Wukong commanded, "Stop the nonsense, take us to your cave to have a look."

Black Immortal King nodded and led the crowd away. In no time, they arrived at the peak of a high mountain. The summit was like a sharp sword, surrounded by cliffs and precipices, inaccessible to any common man or even monkeys.

There were many wooden houses on the mountaintop, and a large square in the center where many children were meditating, while others played and frolicked.

As everyone landed, the children climbed to their feet and said to Black Immortal King, "Greetings, Master!"

"That’s my family’s Doggy!"

"That’s my family’s Niu Dan!"

...

The villagers called out happily...

Just then, Sun Wukong suddenly roared, "I knew you were no good! You think you can deceive my Fiery Eyes Golden Gaze with a mere Illusion Technique?"
