Chapter 31: Chapter 31 Bigfoot? Bighead? Big Immortal?_1

Qin Shou looked up to see Chang’e’s expression and his old face flushed with embarrassment, knowing he had made a fool of himself!

As a man, at this moment, he should have been the one giving Chang’e a sense of security.

With this thought, Qin Shou immediately drew out a long note after his cry and began clapping his paws over his mouth.

"Ahh... Ohhh oh oh oh..."

Qin Shou imitated Tarzan’s yell, shouted loudly, and then called out to Chang’e, "This is awesome! Haha..."

Chang’e originally thought Qin Shou was scared, but seeing him behave like this relaxed her tense nerves quite a bit, and she said with a pursed smile, "Sit tight, don’t move around, be careful not to fall off."

Feeling the warm jade tightly surrounding him, how could Qin Shou sit still and not move during such a comfortable, perfect moment? So he laughed heartily and said, "If I fall, it’ll be a work injury, and I’ll go after Old Taibai for compensation later! If we can’t attend the Ghost Festival banquet, we’ll have a perfectly good excuse."

As he said that, Qin Shou’s eyes lit up, and he suddenly jumped out!

Chang’e got a fright and quickly reached out to grab him!

But at that moment, Qin Shou banged into something as if he had hit a wall, his face flattened, limbs splayed out, suspended in mid-air, and slid down after a second.

Chang’e quickly pulled him back and slapped his little behind, saying, "What are you doing?"

Qin Shou, holding his face, said, "It’s nothing, just trying..."

Qin Shou spoke casually, but Chang’e understood what he meant; this guy really wanted to jump, to have a work injury... or even a work death, in order to help her through this ordeal.

Chang’e’s heart warmed, and she hugged Qin Shou, gently stroking his head and said, "Don’t be like this, believe in me, I will definitely earn everyone’s approval. We won’t die... it’s just dancing, right? I am really good at it!"

Qin Shou didn’t expect Chang’e to see through his ruse immediately, he smirked and said nothing.

The cloud flew swiftly, and before long, the two were far from the Moon, with the seemingly unreachable heavenly palace getting closer and closer.

At the same time, the sky began to fill with more people, some on flying swords, some lying on gourds, some standing on dice, some sprawled on toads...

Countless odd and curious beings were seen, but Qin Shou knew these fellows must be heading to the Heavenly Court, presumably to attend the Ghost Festival banquet.

Those invited by the Queen Mother to the Ghost Festival banquet must certainly be no ordinary folk, so Qin Shou didn’t want to stir trouble; he closed his eyes, ready to meditate and conserve his energy.

The closer they got to the Southern Gate, the more immortals they encountered.

Just then, a voice rang out, "Is this fairy from the Moon, Fairy Chang’e?"

The voice was mellow and gentle, yet had an air of majesty.

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou instinctively opened his eyes, and before looking up, he spotted an incredibly huge pair of bare feet! Qin Shou figured these feet were bigger than his whole rabbit body by one size!

Qin Shou grimaced and thought to himself, "Oh, my God, it’s the Bigfoot Monster!"

Following the bare feet upward, he saw a figure dressed in a yellow Daoist robe, with a half-exposed chest, a grass rope tied around his waist, holding a large fan, and smiling at him and Chang’e.

Qin Shou grimaced again, thinking: If it weren’t for the fact that he’s a man, with that bare chest and large fan, he’d be the number one courtesan in ancient times.

As soon as this thought occurred to him, the big immortal lifted his hand and gave him a knock on the head, then chuckled and said, "You, Rabbit, sure have a wild imagination."

Startled, Qin Shou blurted out, "You know everything I’m thinking?"

The big immortal roared with laughter and said, "Just a little Mind Reading Technique, it’s no big deal."

Even though he said that, the look he gave Qin Shou was quite peculiar, and in fact, he glanced at Qin Shou even more than he did at Chang’e!

Unable to help himself, Qin Shou’s thoughts began to race again, "That look, all lecherous; he isn’t watching Chang’e but looking at me instead—could he be into men? No, wait, into male rabbits? Good heavens, do immortals have such exotic tastes?"

Thump!

The big immortal smacked Qin Shou on the head again, causing him to grimace in pain as he exclaimed, "Damn it, aren’t you done yet? Hit me again, and see if I, Rabbit Lord, don’t bite you!"

The big immortal said, "You know well enough what kind of outrageous things you’re conjuring up in your mind. This knock on your head is a reminder for you; during the Ghost Festival banquet, don’t let your thoughts wander. If you offend someone important, I’m afraid you might turn into a dish at the banquet on the spot."

Upon hearing this, Chang’e, who had also felt a bit upset, relaxed her furrowed brows. Anyone who wasn’t a fool could detect the good intentions behind the big immortal’s words.

Qin Shou smacked his lips but stopped thinking about it. After all, he had no secrets, so he just said outright, "Do all immortals enjoy peeping into others’ inner worlds like this?"

"What do you think?" The big immortal raised an eyebrow at Qin Shou.

Qin Shou looked at the big immortal and said with a grin, "You always peek at my inner thoughts; the consequences could be quite severe."

"Oh? Severe? How severe?" The big immortal looked at Qin Shou with a smile and said, "I’d like to see what tricks you’ve got up your sleeve, little Rabbit."

Qin Shou looked up and said, "Are you sure? You’ll have to face the consequences yourself!"

The big immortal said, "Ha ha... In Heaven and Earth, there aren’t many who can threaten me. I’ll take full responsibility."

With a twinkle in his eye, Qin Shou proposed, "How about we make a bet? If what I’m about to show you shocks you, then surely you, as such a great immortal, should give me a decent welcome gift, right?"

The big immortal said, "Interesting, but what if I’m not shocked?"

Qin Shou replied, "You’re such a great immortal, do you really care about what a mere Rabbit gives you? Besides, both of us are so poor we only have ourselves left to give. What, are you scared?"

The big immortal smacked Qin Shou again on the head and said, "Don’t try to provoke me with reverse psychology; I know the little schemes you have in mind."

Qin Shou chuckled, indeed harboring some tricks, but he strove hard to restrain himself from thinking about the specifics of his plan. Thus, while the big immortal knew Qin Shou wanted to fight back, he was clueless about how Qin Shou intended to do so.

So, Qin Shou asked, "Well? Do we have a bet?"

"Fine, it’s a bet," answered the big immortal.

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou couldn’t resist laughing and inquired, "Big Head... ahem... Big Immortal, what should I call you?"

The big immortal gave him a look and replied, "I’d like to see how you make me look like a big sucker. My Daoist name is Barefoot. People like to call me the Barefoot Immortal. How should I address you?"

Qin Shou was taken aback at first, but he quickly purged all the doubts from his mind, thinking of nothing, lest his memories betray any weaknesses and bring trouble.

Qin Shou had no idea how this world treated aliens or people from parallel universes—whether they would end up like on Earth, caught and dissected, sliced up for study.
