Rabbit Must Die
Chapter 284 - 281 Trembling Iron Bamboo [First Update]_1

Chapter 284: Chapter 281 Trembling Iron Bamboo [First Update]_1

Guang Shan chuckled and said, "Fine, let’s pretend I never heard that. But don’t you think about helping that rabbit. I’m watching him just as you are! I really want to see how this rabbit is going to clear out the entire Iron Bamboo Forest! Let me take a look, our braggart rabbit, how many iron bamboos has it chopped down... Ouch! Ow! Tsk-tsk... over thirty, nearly forty! Impressive, impressive! Rabbit, you keep it up, I’m rooting for you... Haha..."

Unable to contain himself, Guang Shan burst into laughter, then forcefully dragged Songguo away by his arm.

When the two returned to the outskirts of the Drum-hearing Tower, Guang Yun asked, "Guang Shan, how is that rabbit doing?"

Guang Shan waved his hand, "How else could it be doing? I don’t even need to bother looking too closely, one glance tells it all. Three days, a little over thirty iron bamboos... That’s all it’ll be doing for the rest of its life, chopping bamboos."

Guang Yun nodded, "Are you certain you saw it clearly?"

Guang Shan dismissively replied, "Could I have seen it any clearer? I saw it with my own eyes! If you don’t believe me, ask Songguo!"

"I’m not asking Songguo, I’m asking you," Guang Yun said.

Guang Shan curled his lip and said, "Don’t worry, you can count on me to handle things! That rabbit cutting iron bamboo won’t be causing any trouble in this lifetime."

Guang Yun nodded slightly, finally reassured. Out of trust for Guang Shan, he couldn’t be bothered to waste energy glancing at that rabbit...

Thus, no one noticed that the Iron Bamboo Forest was rapidly disappearing...

Meanwhile, down below the platform, Sun Wukong had just paid his respects to Subhuti Patriarch.

Subhuti Patriarch put down his book and asked, "Wukong, have you decided what you’d like to learn?"

Sun Wukong respectfully said, "Master, you told me to think, and I thought all night without a wink of sleep. Pondering back and forth, I still don’t know what skills you possess, how should I make a choice? I ask for your guidance, Master."

Subhuti Patriarch nodded slightly, "I have the 36 Heavenly Stars Changes and the 72 Earthly Fiends Changes. Which one do you wish to learn?"

Upon hearing this, Wukong’s eyes lit up, and he instinctively wanted to choose the one with the higher number. But before he could speak, a thought struck him, and he said, "Master, since both are your magical skills, could I possibly learn them both?"

Subhuti Patriarch was taken aback, clearly not expecting the Monkey to be so shrewd, and then laughed, "You sly monkey, you’re quite astute."

Sun Wukong chuckled and said, "Master, as the saying goes, ’One cannot have too many skills’."

Subhuti Patriarch replied, "Well then, I’ll pass on both to you. Come closer, and listen to your master explain in detail."

Sun Wukong moved closer, settling down to listen to the lesson, with complete admiration for the rabbit in his heart, thinking: If it hadn’t been for that rabbit’s advice, I would have probably chosen the one with the bigger number and been at a disadvantage!

When he learned that the 72 Earthly Fiends Changes were less potent than the 36 Heavenly Stars, his gratitude towards the rabbit grew even more.

By the evening, Sun Wukong arrived exceptionally early, and that’s when he noticed something was amiss—the Iron Bamboo Forest seemed a bit sparse!

Sun Wukong leaped into the air for a better look and was startled. He saw that half of the mountainside in the distance was bare! The ground was turned over as if something had burrowed through it!

"Rabbit, rabbit!" Sun Wukong, seeing the rabbit that was still fronting death in front of the bamboo forest, hurried over and called out.

Qin Shou opened one eyelid, "Monkey, what do you want?"

"What do I want? I noticed a couple of days ago that the bamboos in the Iron Bamboo Forest were depleting quickly, but today you’ve outdone yourself, there’s only a few kilometers left around here! Are you trying to strip this mountain bald?" Sun Wukong exclaimed.

Qin Shou said indifferently, "It’s not your property, what’s got you so worked up? Besides, Guang Shan said if I could get rid of all the iron bamboo, he’d even help me ask the master to teach me magic."

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong stared in disbelief, "Really? He said that?"

Qin Shou replied, "True! Cross my heart! Songguo can vouch for it."

Sun Wukong clapped his hands and laughed, "That’s great! Need a hand?"

Qin Shou said, "Forget it, you better focus on cultivating your magic. Learn more so you can teach me later; that’s what really matters."

Sun Wukong chuckled, "Rabbit, today I’ve learned a lot using your method. Are you interested in learning too?"

Qin Shou’s eyes gleamed, "Learn! Of course, I want to learn!"

Suddenly Sun Wukong zipped into the Iron Bamboo Forest and transformed into an iron bamboo...

Before Qin Shou could reply, a furious roar came from the distance, "Rabbit!"

Minutes earlier.

After having tea, the two brothers, Guang Shan and Guang Yun, prepared to ascend for a game of chess and headed for Chessboard Peak.

Chessboard Peak was small, with just enough space for a chessboard plus two cushions. Sitting there, one would essentially be half over the cliff’s edge.

The clouds swirled beneath their feet, and with a gust of wind, they could see the abyss thousands of feet below; any less determined individual wouldn’t just struggle to play chess, but even staying seated would be a challenge.

Of course, those here are all cultivators and Guang Shan and Guang Yun with their immortal level powers were naturally not worried about this.

The two settled down with clouds rolling under their feet, though they couldn’t see the view beneath them... not that they had any desire to look at a sight they had grown tired of seeing daily.

Guang Yun held the white pieces, while Guang Shan took the black pieces.

Guang Yun raised his right hand high and said with a smile, "Junior brother, your senior brother will make the first move!"

Guang Shan grinned, "Senior brother, please proceed!"

Just as Guang Yun was about to place a piece, a gust of wind blew away the clouds beneath them, exposing the view below. Guang Yun was about to focus on his chess piece, but as he played his move, his eyes inadvertently glanced below and he was rooted to the spot as though struck by lightning!

"Senior Brother, what’s wrong with you?" Guang Shan asked.

Guang Yun’s face was ashen, his forehead covered in cold sweat as he asked, "Guang Shan, are you sure, that rabbit can’t chop down the Iron Bamboo?"

Guang Shan said, "Of course! Every time he goes, he ends up snoring in exhaustion, barely chopping more than a dozen Iron Bamboo in a day. What’s wrong?"

Upon hearing this, Guang Yun slapped a white chess piece down on the board with a snap, then abruptly stood up and said, "Then you tell me, what the hell is going on! Why is our mountain bald? Where is our Iron Bamboo Forest?"

Guang Shan was stunned, having never seen Guang Yun lose his temper, and was really frightened. He turned around just as a floating cloud drifted by.

Guang Yun waved his sleeve, and all the floating clouds were gathered into his hand, revealing the scene below without obstruction!

Guang Shan looked towards the Iron Bamboo Forest, only to see the mountainside below completely bare... Apart from the Iron Bamboo at the very front still swaying, the rest had been almost entirely uprooted! Only at the foot of the mountain did Iron Bamboo reappear!

But Guang Shan knew that those Iron Bamboos were no longer of immortal grade; they were mortal and worthless—the good stuff was all gone!

Guang Shan roared, "Rabbit!"

Then Guang Yun and Guang Shan vanished from the spot in an instant...

Qin Shou heard someone calling him and turned his head to see Guang Shan rushing over. Then he grabbed the rabbit and yelled, "Rabbit!"

Qin Shou cleared his ears and said, "Second Senior Brother, what’s with the excitement? I’m listening."

Guang Shan, with eyes red with rage, shouted, "Rabbit, where is the Iron Bamboo?!"

Qin Shou pointed to the Iron Bamboo below and said, "Isn’t it right here? What are you getting worked up for?"

Guang Shan angrily said, "I mean... our... where’s our Iron Bamboo Forest?!"

Qin Shou turned around and pointed to the sparse remains of the Iron Bamboo Forest and said, "Isn’t it right here? Second Senior Brother, can’t you see? When did you go blind?"

Seeing that Guang Shan was already too flustered to speak properly, Guang Yun patted him and said, "Let me do the talking."

Then Guang Yun, with a stern face, said, "Rabbit, we asked you to chop Iron Bamboo, not to uproot it completely. How did you manage to wreak such havoc on the Iron Bamboo Forest?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou proudly stood up straight and retorted, "Senior Brother, don’t blame me! I asked Second Senior Brother when I was chopping, ’What if I cut them all down?’ He said he would shoulder the blame, and he even agreed to plead with Master to teach me magic. If you don’t believe me, ask Second Senior Brother!"

After saying this, Qin Shou looked towards Guang Shan.

Guang Shan’s face turned bright red; he wanted to argue back, but the problem was, he did indeed say that!

Seeing Guang Shan’s expression, Guang Yun immediately understood everything and truly felt like slapping his stupid junior brother to death. He gritted his teeth and said, "Guang Shan, is this your idea of ’I can rest easy with you handling matters’? You came to check on the Iron Bamboo Forest every day, how could you check it like this? In just two days! There’s only so little of the Iron Bamboo Forest left! These were immortal grade Iron Bamboo! How am I supposed to explain this to Master? I need a reasonable explanation!"

After saying that, Guang Yun turned and walked away with a flick of his sleeves...

Seeing this, Guang Shan became anxious too, chasing after him and calling out, "Senior Brother, let me explain!"

Seeing this, Qin Shou tiptoed, craned his neck, and yelled, "Second Senior Brother, don’t go! You promised that once I finished chopping this Iron Bamboo Forest, you would help me petition Master to teach me magic!"

When Guang Shan heard this, knowing the rabbit intended to chop more, his anger flared anew, and he suddenly turned back, bellowing, "Damn rabbit, chop your MLGB! If you chop again, I’ll chop you!"

Then Guang Shan immediately chased after Guang Yun...

Qin Shou wiped his nose and muttered, "Rude! Vulgar! That’s too much!"

Once everyone had left, Sun Wukong came running over, exclaiming, "Wow... It’s the first time I’ve ever heard Second Senior Brother swear, but it sure does sound thrilling!"

Qin Shou rolled his eyes and said, "Don’t pick up these bad habits; let’s go."

"Where to?" Sun Wukong asked.

Qin Shou said earnestly, "You have to finish what you start; obviously, we have to completely clear out the last of the Iron Bamboo Forest!"

Sun Wukong was speechless, smiling bitterly, "Aren’t you afraid Second Senior Brother will chop you to death?"

"I’m keeping my promise! If he dares to make a move, I will go and complain to Master!" After saying that, the rabbit went off to chop down the Iron Bamboo.

Sun Wukong watched the Iron Bamboo Forest being felled, thinking to himself, "I’m just worried that after Master finds out, he’ll help him chop you... Now I sort of understand why Master didn’t take this rabbit in..."

After half an hour passed.

Guang Shan appeared before Qin Shou, bulging eyes and all, with only the last immortal grade Iron Bamboo left trembling in the wind...

"Rabbit! Couldn’t you leave some seedlings for our Fangcun Mountain?" Guang Shan asked angrily.

Qin Shou said, "Second Senior Brother, that was our agreement. I, the Rabbit, have a decent reputation; naturally, I have to keep my word."

Guang Shan took out a large knife and placed it nearby, saying, "I’m here today, and you won’t touch this Iron Bamboo!"

Qin Shou said, "Second Senior Brother, that’s no fun. Are you afraid of losing?"

Guang Shan, grinding his teeth, said, "Rabbit, can’t you leave a little room for maneuver?"
