Chapter 249: Chapter 246: Do I Dare to Call You, And Would You Dare to Answer?_1
Qin Shou, upon hearing the words, stopped his pursuit and looked back suspiciously, just in time to see Silver Horn holding a gourd with a mysterious expression on his face.
At the sight, Qin Shou’s eyebrows raised, feeling a sense of déjà vu. Could it be the purple gold calabash from "Journey to the West"?
This calabash, as described in the original work, was created when the sky fell, and Nvwa mended it. The Dao Ancestor lent a hand, and while repairing the Qiangong that touched the ground, He saw a vine at the foot of Kunlun Mountain, bearing this purple gold calabash.
However, the Dao Ancestor didn’t regard it as a treasure; instead, after refining it, He used it to store medicinal pills.
But in the hands of Golden Horn and Silver Horn, this purple gold calabash had become an abnormally powerful treasure. By merely calling out one’s name, if the person responded, they would be sucked into it and transformed into bloody water within moments—extremely formidable.
However, now aware of the calabash’s features, all Qin Shou had to do to avoid its effect was not to respond.
Therefore, Qin Shou wasn’t in a rush to escape anymore and turned around, folding his arms and asked, "What’s up? What do you want to say?"
Silver Horn replied with a grin, "Rabbit, as the saying goes, ’A gentleman uses his mouth, not his fists.’ Although you stole something, we are Furnace Guarding Boys from Doushuai Palace; we have status and reputation. Chasing around like this is too undignified."
Qin Shou chuckled and thought: Undignified? I wonder who was chasing so gleefully just now...
But aloud, Qin Shou inquired, "Oh? Then what should we do?"
Silver Horn suggested, "Let’s play a game. If you respond, we’ll let you go and won’t pursue the matter further! But if you lose, you’ll return the Eight Trigrams Furnace to us, to deal with as we please. What say you?"
Qin Shou asked, "How can I trust you?"
Silver Horn replied, "We are the Furnace Guarding Boys of the Dao Ancestor; how could we lie so casually?"
Golden Horn sneered, "We also disdain lies! Rabbit, how can we trust you anyway?"
Qin Shou, with a sly smile, said, "Just words are useless... If you back out, wouldn’t I be in trouble? How about we make an oath? Whoever goes back on their word must suffer a thunderous retribution."
Fully confident in the treasures they possessed, Golden Horn and Silver Horn laughed and agreed, "Alright, let’s swear an oath!"
Hence, both parties raised their hands and took the oath to Heaven.
After the oaths were made, Qin Shou asked, "Both of you, how do you intend to play this game?"
Silver Horn replied, "It’s simple. We each call out to the other, and if one refuses to answer, he loses. How about it?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Shou sneered, thinking these two fools really had nothing better up their sleeves.
However, Qin Shou considered for a moment and then smiled, "Somewhat interesting. How about I go first?"
Seeing the rabbit had taken the bait, Golden Horn and Silver Horn exchanged glances, both perceiving the amusement in the other’s eyes. With the purple gold calabash in hand, just one call could be deadly!
But what about this rabbit? What did he have? Even if he shouted his lungs out, what would that achieve?
Thus, Silver Horn said cheerily, "Alright, you call out!"
"What if you don’t answer?" Qin Shou inquired.
Laughing heartily, Silver Horn responded, "If we don’t answer, we’ll do whatever you say!"
Qin Shou nodded and said with a smile, "Then listen closely!"
After speaking, Qin Shou transformed into a shiny, pitch-black dog. He stood up on his hind legs, spread them apart, and used the Mighty Spirit God ability to grow as tall as about two meters thirty. Below the waist dangled a stick, swinging to and fro in the breeze.
Golden Horn and Silver Horn watched as the rabbit turned into a dog and then took on this appearance, frowning as they couldn’t understand what the rabbit was up to with such a repulsive form.
Suddenly, the Black Dog took a step forward, placed his right foot obliquely, then twisted his body, arched up, puffed out his chest, and raised his chin...
The motion was done with such mastery that, incredibly, the dog struck an S-shaped curve!
His head bowed slightly, and his dog eyes twinkled like big brush mascaras...
Qin Shou pouted and air-kissed the two, "Mwah!"
"Ugh..." Golden Horn and Silver Horn turned around and started retching, the image too disgusting to bear...
Without turning, Silver Horn exclaimed, "Rabbit, whatever the hell you have to say, hurry up! Don’t disgust us!"
Then Qin Shou, in a cutesy, disgustingly sweet voice, cooed, "My dear... why the rush..."
"Ugh!" Although Silver Horn didn’t look back, the image of the damn dog lifting his leg, arching his back, and looking sleepy-eyed and gross flashed subconsciously in his mind...
Golden Horn simply squatted down and continued to dry heave, too weary to speak.
"Call it out quickly!" urged Silver Horn.
"Ahhh... dear..."
"If you ’ahh dear’ one more time, I swear I’ll kill you!" Silver Horn stamped his foot, holding the calabash like a brick, ready to strike—he really looked like he would flatten him!
Qin Shou, upon seeing this, bashfully clutched his chest with both hands in a posture of one about to be violated...
Silver Horn’s eyes nearly bulged out—not from being enticed, but from sheer anger... Could this damn rabbit be any more revolting?
Qin Shou declared, "Well then, I’m going to call out now..."
Grinding his teeth, eyes blood-red with fury, Silver Horn barked, "Just do it already!"
Finally, Qin Shou coyly waved his dog paws and called out softly, "Dear... Husband!"
Upon hearing this, Silver Horn felt a gust of wind pass by, and it seemed as if his soul had left him; he stood motionless for an eternity...
After a long while, Qin Shou playfully called out again, "Dear! Husband—"
As if struck by lightning out of the blue, Silverhorn shuddered, goosebumps sprouting all over; his hair stood on end... Gritting his teeth, he bellowed, "Scram!"
"My dear husband... what’s wrong? Why are you being so fierce to me? I’m scared..." Qin Shou said, twisting his butt and speaking coyly.
With a burst, Silverhorn spewed a mouthful of old blood, driven to fury as he roared, "Shut up!"
Qin Shou said, "Oh dear... I saw you shudder just now, really shudder. We haven’t even consummated our marriage and you’re already... ejaculating... And now you’ve sprayed directly... Do you like me that much?"
"Pfft..." Golden Horn couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into laughter.
Silverhorn’s face turned beet red with suppression, enunciating each word, "Do you believe..."
Qin Shou cut in at once, "You’ve promised... if I call you... you have to answer... my husband... quickly agree!"
As soon as Silverhorn heard this, he remembered his own vow and, with bulging eyes, trembled for quite a while... At that moment, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Golden Horn squatting on the ground, so he quickly kicked Golden Horn, saying, "Golden Horn, he’s calling you..."
Upon hearing this, Golden Horn’s calves trembled and he almost fell to the ground.
Golden Horn glanced at Qin Shou, who immediately threw him a flirtatious wink, drawing out the call, "My husband—!"
"Pfft..." Golden Horn had just taken a sip of water, which he now spat out, sputtering bit by bit.
Finally, with a swish, Golden Horn leaped up, full of righteous indignation as he exclaimed, "Silverhorn, he’s calling for you, quickly respond!"
Head lowered, Silverhorn muttered, "This ant is really quite fascinating..."
Golden Horn followed suit, lowering his head and agreeing, "It is remarkably fascinating, how can an ant be so good-looking?"
"I don’t know... how about we take it back and raise it?"
In saying so, the two had completely changed the subject...
Just then, a fragrant breeze wafted over.
Instinctively, they both lifted their heads to look, only to see that disgusting dog busily applying rouge and face powder, his grotesque red lips and rosy cheeks glowing... even painting a small heart on one of its sharp, canine teeth.
When the dog saw them looking, it quirked an eyebrow and twisted its behind, "My—husband!"
"Ugh..." Both of them retched again.
"You could at least speak... say something... I’m waiting here, my—husband!" Qin Shou called out, swaying his thick waist and flailing his tail.
Silverhorn quickly pulled Golden Horn aside, whispering, "Golden Horn, he’s calling for you, you better answer quickly or we’ll lose."
Reluctantly, Golden Horn asked, "Why don’t you respond then?"
"I... I want to beat him to death." Silverhorn said.
Golden Horn said, "So do I, but, first agree or we get struck by the thunderbolt. Once we agree, we can capture him, turn him into water, and use him as fertilizer for the flowers!"
"I can’t bear to... you go ahead." Silverhorn insisted.
"You go ahead..."
"You go ahead..."
"You go, wait? Where’s the rabbit?" Silverhorn glanced back inadvertently and realized, to his surprise, that the spot where the Black Dog was squatting was deserted—the rabbit had disappeared!
Golden Horn turned and looked, sure enough, no rabbit was in sight. He slapped his thigh and shouted, "We’ve been duped! That damn rabbit has escaped!"
"Chase him!" Silverhorn called out.
"Where would we chase him to? Do you know where that rabbit might be?" Golden Horn asked.
After pondering for a moment, Silverhorn said, "Someone must know, right? Who can enter the heavenly palace without name or fame?"
"True, let’s go out and ask around! I’m going to kill that disgusting rabbit!" Golden Horn exclaimed angrily.
Silverhorn agreed, "Right, kill him!"
...
And so, the two dashed out of Doushuai Palace, in search of the rabbit.
No sooner had they left than they ran into a heavenly official who was hurrying past. Golden Horn reflexively called out, "Excuse me, heavenly official, could you please wait a moment!"
The official stopped, turned back to see the two child servants, and smilingly said, "Oh, it’s Golden Spirit and Silver Spirit, two daoist friends. What can I do for you?"
Both were the Dao Ancestor’s child servants, each responsible for one of the Dao Ancestor’s alchemy furnaces—the golden cauldron and the silver cauldron. Hence, they were known by their daoist names, Golden Spirit and Silver Spirit.
However, neither of them liked this title, feeling that it was too effeminate.
Golden Horn and Silverhorn were self-appointed names. When the Dao Ancestor was away, they would use these titles to fulfill their dreams of being great officials, or even kings, living free and easy lives.
Though they were merely child servants, they were, after all, the child servants of the Dao Ancestor.
As the saying goes, a leader’s driver wields considerable power. Naturally, these two child servants held not insignificant status, so when the heavenly official met them, he had to respectfully address them as daoist friends, instead of merely calling them child servants.
"What’s your name, honorable heavenly official?" Golden Horn inquired.
"The humble official’s surname is Xu." Immortal Xu replied.
Golden Horn said, "Greetings, Immortal Xu. May I ask if you’re acquainted with any rabbits? The really fat kind?"
Silverhorn added, "And especially mischievous! The utterly lawless kind!"
