Chapter 245: Chapter 242 Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid [Subscribe please]_1
Qin Shou said, "You’re not going to tell your sisters, are you?"
Chang’e replied, "Of course, we can’t just freeload off people."
Qin Shou narrowed his eyes; he thought he saw a path to fortune...
Following Chang’e past the Southern Gate, Qin Shou headed straight for the Imperial Garden.
However, as he walked, Qin Shou overheard many people whispering...
"Have you heard? A demon broke into the Imperial Garden."
"I heard about it, such a commotion yesterday, even the Jade Emperor took action himself. It’s said that the demon has been slain."
"With the Jade Emperor involved, it’s definitely dead..."
"What kind of demon was it, to fight with the Jade Emperor all night before being killed..."
"I don’t know, but I heard from a Great Golden Immortal that they saw bones stretching across the skies amidst the chaos, nearly shattering the Jade Emperor’s Five Dragon Carriage..."
"Really? No way!"
"Absolutely. That carriage represents the will of many Saints and was conjointly crafted for the Jade Emperor. To have almost destroyed it, that demon must have been terrifying. Luckily, it was suppressed; otherwise, if it got out, Tianyong City could have been flattened."
"That’s horrifying..."
...
Listening to these rumors, Qin Shou was filled with a hundred doubts. Suppressed? Killed?
Damn it, who was that woman who told him to cook?
Could it be that the woman who fought the Jade Emperor yesterday wasn’t the same one with the knife-like presence, but someone else?
Qin Shou was utterly baffled...
When he arrived at the entrance of the Imperial Garden, Qin Shou saw Baiwen and Raoteng standing on either side of the door, their disproportional sizes and mismatched heights nonetheless giving off an air of martial law.
Next to Raoteng stood a woman in official attire and long boots, holding two sections of golden rope, constantly fiddling with them...
Upon seeing this, Qin Shou trembled, cleared his throat, summoned his courage, and called out, "Hey! Long-legged beauty, why is your rope broken? I remember now, it was Baiwen who bit it, right?"
Baiwen was dumbfounded upon hearing this. He bit it? Did he have that kind of biting power, to have been beaten so miserably yesterday?
Before Baiwen could speak, Raoteng said, "Yeah, Baiwen bit it."
Baiwen instantly had a bitter look on his face, glaring at Raoteng. That guy really sold him out without blinking, probably because he feared being accused by the rabbit, so he quickly shifted the blame, right?
"Baiwen, you bit it?" Baiying asked.
Baiwen glanced at the rabbit, who pulled out a handful of honey, swayed it in his hand, and then ate it.
Subconsciously touching his bottom, Baiwen said, "Yep, I bit it."
Baiying handed the rope over and said, "Bite it again. If you bite it through, I’ll treat you to something tasty. If you fail, you’ll hang for another three days!"
On hearing this, Baiwen’s eyes widened in dismay as he looked pitifully at the rabbit... only to find that the rabbit had disappeared...
"Where’s the rabbit?" Baiwen asked instinctively.
Raoteng glanced at long-legged beauty’s thigh...
With a sidelong glance, Baiwen saw the rabbit clinging to Baiying’s thigh, wailing, "Long-legged beauty, where were you yesterday... You have no idea, after you left, the sky and earth changed, disaster struck..."
"Stop, I don’t want to hear it. Whatever happened yesterday, I missed it, and it was too terrifying..." Baiying managed to steer the conversation elsewhere.
Qin Shou said, "Wasn’t it just? If Baiwen hadn’t mustered his strength at the critical moment of life and death and bitten through the rope, today you wouldn’t be worried about whom to hang, but whom you’d be offering incense to."
Upon hearing this, Baiying’s pretty face flushed... If Baiwen and Raoteng had truly died, she indeed would have been to blame, and would have felt guilty today.
Qin Shou shot Baiwen a look, and Baiwen, along with Raoteng who was always slick with the officials, immediately understood Qin Shou’s intent; they both started bawling, moving closer as they cried, "Long-legged beauty, yesterday was too perilous, we barely escaped with our lives..."
Just as the pair were about to cling to her legs, Baiying’s eyebrows shot up, and with one kick each, she toppled them over, saying, "Behave with some dignity!"
Baiwen and Raoteng looked at the rabbit still hanging onto Baiying’s leg, then sadly at the large bootprints on their chests... How unfair... born of the same parents, yet treated so differently!
Baiying was also blushing, covertly tugging at the rabbit, but she couldn’t pull him off. What could she do?
"Rabbit, come down for a moment, I have something to tell you today," Baiying said, coughing discreetly.
Qin Shou let go decisively and asked, "What’s up?"
Baiying said, "Come with me, and you two, make sure no one enters the Imperial Garden. No one is allowed inside!"
Baiwen and Raoteng quickly stood up to guard the gate, nodding as they accepted the order, "Don’t worry, Inspector, with us here, not even a mosquito will get in. As long as we’re here, the gate’s secure!"
As Qin Shou walked with Baiying, something suddenly occurred to him. He calculated the time with his fingers, and then cried out, "Crap, trouble’s brewing!"
With that, Qin Shou turned and ran!
Baiying reached out but couldn’t catch the rabbit, who dashed into the Imperial Garden’s gate and vanished from sight!
And Baiwen and Raoteng, who claimed not even a mosquito could get in, hadn’t even realized what had happened... The two of them looked at Baiying, then at each other, and then at the rabbit that had disappeared inside the gate, awkwardly saying, "It was a rabbit that got in, not a mosquito..."
Baiying was so angry that she wished she could smack these two idiots to death. Anxiously, she said, "You... do you have any idea how dangerous it is inside? How could you let him in?! Forget it, I’ll settle the score with you later. I need to report this to the Supervisory Division first. I hope there’s still time to save that damn rabbit’s life!"
Having said that, Baiying turned around and dashed away with her long legs...
"Oh, understood, you may go now."
Within the Supervisory Division, a voice that was dignified yet subdued arose.
"Sir, that rabbit has entered the Imperial Garden. It’s very dangerous in there right now... Shouldn’t we...?" Baiying asked worriedly.
"No need, I originally called him over to hand over the management of the Imperial Garden to him, just to notify him. Since he has gone in, then let him be," said the head of the Supervisory Division.
"Sir, isn’t he in danger?" Baiying asked.
"The demon has been slain by the Jade Emperor, what danger could there be?" replied the head of the Supervisory Division.
"Is the Imperial Garden still under martial law?" Baiying inquired.
The head of the Supervisory Division nodded, "Martial law is imposed, and it’s a permanent status. From now on, only that rabbit can come and go. Without the Jade Emperor’s permission, no one else is allowed to enter. These are the Jade Emperor’s orders!"
Upon hearing this, Baiying breathed a sigh of relief. Since the rabbit could come and go, it meant that going in wouldn’t lead to his death. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been coming and going but rather just going in and not coming out. Still, Baiying couldn’t help feeling a bit uneasy, so she decided to wait outside the Imperial Garden for the rabbit to come out...
"Damn... this is my Imperial Garden?"
At that moment, Qin Shou was staring dumbfounded at the vast expanse of ruins before him!
What once resembled a primordial forest, stretching as far as the eye could see, had now turned into a landscape of total devastation!
The term "riddled with wounds" was insufficient to describe the scene. It was as if the earth had been flipped over, pounded furiously, then crushed and tossed around in disarray...
It was also like a large innerspring mattress that had been given to a husky, who was then locked in a room for a month...
A sorry sight to behold!
...
Qin Shou found a blade of grass in a pit and sighed, "What a pity... Ah... these people, their actions were too harsh, not even leaving a single hair for me."
"Crack..."
Just then, Qin Shou heard a soft sound from behind.
He instinctively looked back, only to see something adorably standing there right behind the gate!
It was a two-meter-tall tree whose roots had not penetrated the soil but rather held up most of its roots with its branches, as if a woman were lifting her skirt. It supported itself against the wall with its two thickest roots... As for leaves? There were none to be seen...
On the trunk, a pair of large eyes looked terrified...
"Hey, brother, are you a tree from the Imperial Garden too?" Qin Shou asked.
The little tree blinked, seeming to say, yes.
Qin Shou said, "Don’t be afraid, don’t tremble like that... Got scared, huh?"
The little tree continued to blink.
Qin Shou got closer, jumped up to pat the little tree and said, "Don’t be scared. That big demon didn’t die but has calmed down. Now it’s just the two of us here."
The little tree blinked, showing relief.
Qin Shou went on, "Right, what’s there to be afraid of? Besides, I’m not a good rabbit myself..."
Upon hearing this, the tree shuddered.
Smack!
Before Qin Shou could react, he saw a branch coming at him, and the next moment, he felt a sharp pain on his buttocks, followed by a sensation akin to riding the clouds, driving the mist... He had been whipped away!
Looking back, Qin Shou saw the little tree lifting its ’skirt’ and running in the opposite direction, clearly panicking.
However, Qin Shou didn’t have the time to deal with the little tree as he turned his attention to the distance.
To his surprise, Ash Mountain had risen from the ground again, towering and majestic in the distance.
That little tree had quite the strength; with that single smack, it had thrown him all the way from the gate to the foot of the mountain...
Qin Shou summoned an auspicious cloud and flew straight towards the mountaintop. Upon reaching the top, he discovered that there was a new palace!
All white, and upon closer inspection, he realized the palace was made of bones!
After touching it, Qin Shou shivered involuntarily...
"Rabbit, where’s breakfast?" A woman’s voice emanated from within the palace.
Hearing this, Qin Shou hurriedly ran inside. In the center of the main hall, he saw a bed made of white bones, on which a woman was lying, playing with what appeared to be an animal horn in her hand...
Qin Shou looked closely and shuddered. He recognized the horn! It was from the dragon-horse of the Jade Emperor’s Five Dragon Carriage!
Qin Shou thought of the rumors outside; this woman almost destroyed the Jade Emperor’s Five Dragon Carriage. Could it be true?
"Rabbit, you haven’t answered me yet," said the woman, sitting up, her gaze sharp as a knife.
Qin Shou looked back at the ruins of the Imperial Garden with a bitter expression and said, "Big sister, you’re only talking about eating, but you’ve demolished your own cafeteria. What am I supposed to use to cook?"
