Rabbit Must Die -

Chapter 243: Chapter 240 Heaven is Falling..._1
Qin Shou was rendered speechless by this argument... Although he, shameless as he was, faced himself in the mirror every day, this was the first time he had encountered someone who could spout such nonsense with such righteous indignation! For a moment, he was at a loss for words.
The woman stood up and said, "All right, since it’s so fair, you have no reason to be angry anymore."
Qin Shou, grinding his teeth, said, "You... are awesome!"
The woman gave a light smile and replied, "Not bad..."
Qin Shou was completely disarmed by this woman’s attitude...
However, Qin Shou immediately realized something was off!
This woman, who was usually as cold as ice and could chill one to the bone, often leaving others feeling awkward with her silence, was now engaging in a verbal spat with him. What kind of wicked wind had blown into her mind?
Qin Shou cocked his head and looked at the woman with suspicion...
The woman asked, "Is there a problem?"
"Did someone else take over your brain?" Qin Shou asked.
The woman replied, "Nothing much, just relaxing a bit before a fight."
Qin Shou was astonished: "Before a fight? With whom? Oh Cao... I take my leave!"
Qin Shou suddenly realized something, cupped one hand in the other in a salute, turned around, and bolted! This time he wasn’t running on two legs; though not well-practiced, Qin Shou still sprinted away on all fours.
However, a few minutes later...
Qin Shou looked at the woman in front of him with a tearful eye and said, "Sis, have you had your fun yet? You can fight without dragging me into it, right?"
The woman replied, "What’s the rush? Your cooking wasn’t bad; here’s a little reward for you."
Qin Shou was taken aback: "A reward?"
The woman gestured towards Qin Shou, and the Black Demon Box on his neck opened, then a crystal skull flew out and landed in the woman’s hand.
"This..." Qin Shou stared at the woman in surprise. It was the first time he had seen someone open his ’Black Demon Box’-brand safe so smoothly and silently!
He’d have to change safes when he got back! Qin Shou muttered to himself.
As the crystal skull landed in the woman’s hand, she said indifferently, "The food was good, so consider this your reward."
Having said that, the woman patted the crystal skull, and a pale white gas entered into it. The next moment, the crystal skull emitted a dazzling white light, growing brighter and brighter for a full ten minutes before gradually calming down and returning to its original state.
Then the woman threw the crystal skull to Qin Shou and said, "You’re in luck, this bone has some history; it can be useful in a pinch. Take it, it might save your life one day."
Qin Shou caught the crystal skull and examined it closely for a long time but couldn’t discern any change. He really suspected this woman was fooling him.
But then he thought again, this woman was so proud, someone who could sideline the Jade Emperor himself... would she really bother to trick a little rabbit like him?
So, Qin Shou carefully stored the crystal skull away.
At that moment, the woman said indifferently, "Ensure the thing on your neck is secure, too. If you lose it, your life is forfeit."
When Qin Shou heard this, he froze. The thing on his neck?
Qin Shou instinctively touched his neck and then exclaimed, "The Black Demon Box?"
"Black Demon Box? That name is indeed rather lousy... Little rabbit, off you go. Keep cooking for me tomorrow." The woman finished speaking and with a wave of her hand, Qin Shou felt the world spin before his eyes, and he found himself at the edge of the Imperial Garden!
Qin Shou was stunned. He had to cook again tomorrow? Qin Shou decided that tomorrow, he would eat his fill before going!
"Rabbit, what on earth have you done?" Just then, a familiar shout came from the trees.
Qin Shou looked up and immediately laughed. He saw two fat figures hanging from the tree, shouting their heads off.
Qin Shou said with a smile, "The two fat brothers seem a bit familiar. Where have I seen you before?"
Baiwen and Raoteng, upon hearing this, fell silent...
Then Baiwen cursed, "You damned rabbit, let us down!"
Qin Shou was about to say something when a loud boom suddenly erupted. The next moment, it was as if the sky had shattered!
Whether it was Qin Shou or Baiwen and Raoteng... they all instinctively looked towards the distant mountain...
There, the sky had exploded, revealing the rolling and crushing Chaos Qi!
A brilliance like the blazing sun—that was the Jade Emperor!
Opposite the Jade Emperor was a dreadful pale light, void of any human figure, but Qin Shou knew it had to be that woman!
"Oh Cao, she’s taking on the Jade Emperor..." Qin Shou wore an expression of disbelief, hardly able to comprehend that someone dared to strike at the Jade Emperor!
Baiwen and Raoteng were too scared to make a sound...
The next moment, the Jade Emperor and the woman launched their attacks, and the sky shattered like glass, bit by bit. The pressing Chaos Qi bore down, turning the forests to dust!
Qin Shou, spooked with his fur on end, thought this was not a fight but an act of destroying heaven and earth!
And with that, Qin Shou turned and ran...
After taking just a couple of steps, Qin Shou suddenly stopped, looked up at Baiwen and Raoteng, who were completely petrified with fear on the tree, sighed, and ran back.
"Rabbit, save us!" The two cried their eyes out as soon as they saw the rabbit...
Qin Shou cursed, "Shut up! Cry one more time, and I’ll leave you hanging here until you die!"
The two promptly clammed up.
It took Qin Shou just a couple of bites to sever the golden ropes, and then he dragged the two of them, one in each hand, as he sprinted away...
Even though they were getting dragged across the ground, rolling and tumbling, heads grazing the grass, faces smashing into tree stumps... at that moment, the two felt no resentment, but instead shouted desperately, "Rabbit, run faster! Faster, the Chaos Qi is falling!"
Qin Shou, in turn, ran for his life...
Finally, the three burst out of the Imperial Garden...
Qin Shou instinctively looked back, only to see chains appearing out of nowhere, encircling the entire Imperial Garden like the pillars of a cage, locking everything inside, including the Chaos Qi and the aftermath of the battle!
Qin Shou looked up at the sky, his eyeballs nearly popping out!
He saw that the sky had vanished, replaced by countless stars. The stars spun, casting down beams of light that transformed into those chains!
"Good grief, the Heavenly Court is actually using the full array of heaven’s stars to defend itself... What a grand move..." Qin Shou smacked his lips and couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement.
"This is the Heavenly Constellation Array. It’s said to be an infinitely powerful formation that only a Saint can break through, and even for a Saint, it would take some time to penetrate. It’s the most formidable array in the world!" Raoteng said, flipping over and gasping for air.
Baiwen said, "Now that the formation is activated, no telling what state things are inside."
Just then, Taibai Star Monarch arrived with a group of heavenly soldiers.
"Old man, the Jade Emperor is inside throwing punches," Qin Shou shouted.
Taibai Star Monarch nodded, "I know. I’m here to tell everyone to keep their distance to avoid any accidents. You all should scatter too, go back to your homes, and remember, do not speak of what you have seen and heard today."
Qin Shou, Baiwen, and Raoteng all knew the gravity of today’s events—the heavens had nearly collapsed... It was wise to speak less of such matters.
So they all nodded in agreement, promising to keep silent.
Then Baiwen and Raoteng bowed to Qin Shou, saying, "Rabbit, we brothers were in the wrong before. We owe you our lives, and there are no words for our gratitude. Should you ever need us in the future, just say the word."
Qin Shou waved his paw, "No need to be formal, from now on... cough, cough... we’re all good colleagues, helping each other out, haha..."
Upon hearing the words "taking the blame," Baiwen and Raoteng managed a bitter smile. Today they really had taken the blame, and it seemed this rabbit intended to have them continue doing so in the future... What a life!
Wondering whether they should request a job transfer, the two then left.
Qin Shou also took his leave. At this moment, with such fierce big shots inside, it was best for him to keep his distance...
Qin Shou liked karma, but the kind that could crush him instantly was something he preferred to avoid.
After exiting the Southern Gate, Qin Shou headed straight for the moon, but no sooner had he descended than he saw Wu Gang sitting at the entrance of the Moon Palace waiting for him.
"Gang, you’re so idle today? Not even chopping trees?" Qin Shou asked in surprise.
Wu Gang looked up at the rabbit, a flash of realization dawning in his eyes, then yawned, "I was planning to chat with you, but now I’m so sleepy from waiting, I’m off."
With that, Wu Gang left...
Qin Shou watched Wu Gang’s retreating figure, puzzled, shook his head, and thought no more of it.
After encountering so many incidents today, Qin Shou’s heart was still thumping wildly. He entered the Moon Palace, went straight to his room, and fell asleep.
Chang’e came back later, saw Qin Shou sleeping soundly, covered him up, and then went to rest, too.
The night passed without words, and the next day as dawn broke, Qin Shou got up and checked outside, especially looking at the Heavenly Court, relieved to see the Southern Gate still standing: "Looks like that old mother didn’t collapse the Heavenly Court after all. The Jade Emperor is pretty tough..."
Having muttered to himself, Qin Shou quickly went downstairs to prepare breakfast.
With his pantry running low, he was wondering what to make.
Chang’e came down with a radiant smile, "Yu’er, guess what delicious food I’ve brought you?"
As she spoke, Chang’e flipped her hand, displaying a plate of delicate pastries.
Qin Shou’s eyes lit up as he exclaimed, "So many pastries? Where did you ’borrow’ them from? Uh... I mean, who gave them?"
Chang’e gave Qin Shou a look, "Do you think I’m like you, always ’borrowing’ other people’s things... These were made by Flower Fairy, Water Fairy, and Liuhe Star Monarch. I also learned a bit from them. Guess which one did I make?"
Chang’e playfully placed the plate on the table, looking at the rabbit with a hint of anticipation.
Qin Shou leaned in to scrutinize the pastries closely, which were extremely exquisite, featuring little mountains, ponds, swimming fish, lotus leaves and flowers, pavilions, and beauties... but atop the mountain, there was an incongruous big rabbit!
This rabbit wasn’t lacking in refinement; it just seemed a bit out of place in the picturesque setting.
Seeing the rabbit, Qin Shou already knew... and smiled confidently at Chang’e.
Chang’e laughed in response, obviously thinking that such a simple puzzle would be impossible for Qin Shou to miss.
And then, Qin Shou laughed, "No need to say, this Stone is your work!"
"Then you can eat the Stone!" Chang’e grabbed the stone pastry and stuffed it into Qin Shou’s gaping mouth, turned her head, and left.
