Chapter 237: Chapter 234 Trapping the Rabbit?_1

Raoteng said, "Rabbit, you’ve got some nerve to secretly dig up the plants in the Imperial Garden. This time don’t say that your brothers didn’t look after you, it’s you who’ve dug your own grave!"

Baiwen chuckled, "Rabbit, to commit theft while in charge of watching over something, and to exhibit negligence in your duties—tsk tsk... I wonder if that’s enough to have you end up on the Demon Slaying Altar."

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou didn’t say a word. He simply hung his head, whether out of fear or contemplating his next move was unclear, but he certainly seemed in low spirits.

Baiwen and Raoteng exchanged a glance and both saw the smugness in each other’s eyes.

In fact, they didn’t need to dig up the precious vegetation from Qin Shou’s area and accuse him of the theft. They weren’t entirely sure the vegetation was stolen by this rabbit to begin with. What if it wasn’t? A false accusation would backfire and trouble would ensue if they ended up being accused of slander.

The most important thing was, regardless of whether the rabbit was guilty of theft, the charge of negligence in their supervisory duties over their own territories was absolutely valid!

And that was no minor charge!

So, they decided to go all out. They took the missing plants and moved them to the rabbit’s supervised area, then accused the rabbit of negligence and stealing from their own watch, regardless of which accusation stuck.

With this, they considered their grudge for suffering from diarrhea avenged!

If both charges stuck, they could almost see a rabbit hanging from the gallows...

Thinking of this, they couldn’t help but laugh triumphantly in their hearts!

After walking for a while, two figures appeared ahead, a man and a woman dressed in clothes marked "Inspector." Their clothing was also somewhat unusual.

The man’s outfit had pants with a skirt over them and a waistband that lent a clean and neat appearance; with his beard, he bore the air of an official.

The woman’s attire was different: a tight-fitting dress with boots that reached her calves; the dress just covered the boots, and as for whether she wore pants beneath, Qin Shou guessed she did, since the Immortals flew around frequently, and not wearing pants would be too revealing.

Similarly cinched at the waist, the official uniform clung to her body, highlighting the woman’s valiant spirit, particularly her long legs, which even obscured by the dress, gave a hint of a beautiful silhouette when the wind blew. Qin Shou himself couldn’t help but take an extra glance...

The woman clearly noticed Qin Shou’s gaze and furrowed her brows slightly, about to reprimand him!

Then suddenly, the rabbit burst into loud, sobbing tears, the tears nearly splashing!

Then, rushing forward, the rabbit threw itself at the woman’s legs, hugging them tightly and wailing, "My lord, I am wrongly accused!"

Nobody expected the damn rabbit to pull such a stunt...

Just as Baiwen and Raoteng had composed their speech to make their accusation, they were dumbfounded by the scene... Despite being scoundrels, didn’t they always act submissive as grandchildren before the Inspector? Though this beautiful female Inspector was extremely attractive and they both harbored some thoughts, when had they ever dared to act on them? They couldn’t even imagine it!

But there was the rabbit, actually clinging to the legs of the beautiful Inspector, its paws moving up and down as if trying to climb, but it looked more like groping!

While envying and resenting in their hearts, they both thought: Damn it, do you get to do that just because you’re cute?

However, they were soon convinced that the rabbit was done for!

"Ahem, Rabbit, let go!" the female Inspector said, her cheeks tinting with a faint blush. She tried to shake the rabbit off her leg, but like a plaster, it clung on stubbornly and refused to come off.

The male Inspector’s brows furrowed tightly, and he snorted coldly, "Rabbit, if you have been wronged, speak up. What kind of behavior is this, clinging to an official’s leg?"

He left some words unsaid: you’re already clinging; do you have to touch so recklessly? Damn rabbit!

Qin Shou, with tearful eyes, looked up at the female Inspector and pleaded pitifully, "My lord, I truly am innocent... It was my first day reporting for duty, and they threatened me, then assigned me a huge area to manage. That was bad enough, but I just went home to sleep, and when I got back, I was blamed for this terrible crime. I am wronged... My lord, please see the truth... waaah..."

Qin Shou continued to cry loudly...

The male Inspector barked, "First let go and come down to speak!"

"Why so loud? The child is clearly terrified..." the female Inspector shot back immediately.

The male Inspector was left stunned...

Baiwen and Raoteng were also dumbfounded. What was happening? Was the female Inspector actually defending this rogue rabbit?

The female Inspector gently rubbed Qin Shou’s head and smiled, "Little rabbit, don’t be afraid. I’m here. If you have any grievances, just speak up. I’ll take care of it for you!"

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou felt a surge of joy inside. Indeed, his cute and innocent appearance was still charming to girls...

The male Inspector sent a telepathic message, "Baiying, haven’t you realized yet? This is a male demon rabbit! This guy is clearly taking advantage of the situation to get close to you!"

Baiying narrowed her eyes and telepathically replied, "Xiangwu, I think this rabbit seems quite innocent... But what you said makes sense too. I’ll test him!"

"How should we test this?" Xiangwu asked.

Baiying smiled fondly and caressed Qin Shou’s head. "You’re so cute. Come here, let your sister give you a hug..."

Qin Shou glanced at Baiying’s chest subconsciously, Not much flesh there... probably bony and uncomfortable!

So, his ears perked up at once. He let go, stepped back, stood tall and proud, and declared righteously, "No, I can’t! My teacher once taught me that men and women should not touch without reason, and I shouldn’t let someone unrelated to me hug me!"

Qin Shou’s sudden outburst took everyone by surprise!

Baiwen and Raoteng cursed inwardly: Men and women shouldn’t touch? What the hell were you just hugging? A pole? And what was that fumbling just now? Cleaning the pole? Damn it, if it weren’t for the Inspector here, I’d beat you to death, you damn rabbit!

Xiangwu was also speechless, but he was also unsure which of the rabbit’s words were true...

Baiying whispered, "Xiangwu, if this rabbit really wanted to take advantage, would he refuse when I hug him? I think he was truly wronged just now and got carried away in his excitement."

Xiangwu said, "Then why didn’t he hug my leg?"

No sooner had Xiangwu spoken than he felt something clinging to his pants. Looking down, he saw the rabbit hugging his leg... and the thing was, the rabbit was really damn heavy! His pants were nearly pulled down!

"Inspector! I’m innocent!" Qin Shou exclaimed.

"Enough, if you have a grievance, speak downstairs and don’t pull on my pants." Xiangwu quickly tightened his pants.

Baiying said, "Rabbit, you say you’ve been wronged, well spit it out. It’ll help us distinguish right from wrong. But before that, I have a question for you. You must answer honestly, no lying."

Qin Shou promptly let go, stepped back, and stood obediently, nodding vigorously like a pecking chicken. "Go ahead, long-legged beauty, I’ll spare no detail in anything I know!"

"What did you call me?" Baiying was taken aback, long-legged beauty? What a strange name!

Qin Shou asked, "Then what should I call you?"

Baiying was speechless for a moment, realizing she hadn’t introduced herself yet. Seeing the rabbit’s dumbfounded look, she didn’t want to argue with him and introduced herself, "My name is Baiying, and this is Xiangwu. Remember that, okay?"

Qin Shou said, "Got it, long-legged beauty!"

Hearing this name again, Baiying didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. But looking at the endearing rabbit, it was hard to associate it with a lecherous beast. She was torn between irritation and amusement...

Baiying decided to change the subject and said, "Rabbit, today we received a report that someone had dug up precious plants and flowers from the Imperial Garden. We’ve checked, and it’s only your area that’s been dug up for precious plants and flowers. As a manager of the Imperial Garden, do you admit your guilt?"

Qin Shou confidently said, "I don’t know any guilt!"

Xiangwu snorted coldly. "Rabbit, someone claimed you were poaching. Do you admit your guilt?"

Qin Shou kept shaking his head. "I don’t admit to any guilt!"

Upon hearing this, Raoteng couldn’t help but laugh. "Lords, you’ve seen it yourselves, this rabbit is utterly obstinate! If you ask me, the punishment is too lenient. According to the rules of the Imperial Garden, whoever loses something must compensate double. Lords, this is not the time to be merciful!"

Baiwen chimed in, "Exactly, it’s the first time I’ve seen someone who made a mistake and won’t admit it."

Baiying frowned. "Rabbit, you say you’re not guilty? Give me one reason."

Qin Shou said, "I only arrived yesterday to report for duty, and I don’t live here at night. How could I have seen anyone stealing? Besides, this is the Imperial Garden of the Heavenly Court, and the heavenly palace has strict security—not even a fly can enter. If there’s a thief, it can only be a spy. But I’m not stupid; if I were the thief, why would I steal from my own territory? Am I eager to get caught? Haven’t you heard that a rabbit doesn’t eat the grass by its own burrow?"

At these words, Baiying and Xiangwu nodded slightly, the logic made sense.

Raoteng immediately said, "It could be possible that you did it on purpose to confuse us. Talking more is useless; no matter the reason, if your area has been robbed, it’s your fault."

Qin Shou waved his paw. "I’ve said it’s a spy. I’m new here; I can watch out for external thieves but how can I guard against a professional spy? I think, long-legged beauty... ah, fairy Baiying, can’t we divine and see who really stole the precious plants in my area? If we can figure it out, why waste time here, accusing each other... Isn’t it better to catch the real thief?"

Baiying nodded, "We could try that."

At those words, Raoteng and Baiwen were startled, having forgotten this possibility in their scheming!

But Raoteng quickly said, "Since we’re divining, let’s divine whether this rabbit stole the precious plants from the Imperial Garden yesterday."

Baiwen nodded in agreement, "Right, divine this rabbit’s actions! Everything was fine in the Imperial Garden before he arrived, nothing was lost. But once he came, things went missing... There’s definitely a problem here!"

Their calculation was simple; it was just the three of them in the Imperial Garden yesterday, and indeed, a lot of vegetation had gone missing from both their areas. They were both away at the time, so the only one who could have stolen was the rabbit!

If they could influence Baiying and Xiangwu’s divination, they thought they could escape the calamity and simultaneously condemn the rabbit.
