Chapter 196: Chapter 195 Really Just Missing Home_1
Qin Shou said, "Of course you can, let’s go! Time to eat!"
A few minutes later...
Inside the Moon Palace.
The rabbit led the way into the Moon Palace. As soon as they entered, Tianpeng loudly announced, "I, Tianpeng Marshal, am here to visit the fairy of the Moon Palace!"
His voice was loud and clear, exceptionally righteous; just by the sound of it, he truly seemed like an upright person.
Qin Shou glanced at the drool at the corner of Tianpeng’s mouth, snorted coldly, and said nothing, thinking, "My sister would avoid you if she could, and if you hadn’t shouted like that, she might actually have met you. Now that you’ve called out, you’ve saved me the trouble. You can just suck in the northwest wind!"
As expected, it was silent inside the Moon Palace, with no response.
"Rabbit, where is Fairy Chang’e?" Tianpeng asked.
Qin Shou replied, "How would I know? I guess she hasn’t come back yet."
"Impossible, the Four Heavenly Lords saw her return... cough cough... It’s this late, the sky’s almost dark, she should have returned by now." Tianpeng almost let slip, hastily changing his reasoning.
Qin Shou narrowed his eyes, thinking: How dare you, the Four Heavenly Lords, spy on me! You just wait!
At the same time, at the Southern Gate, Demon Mo Lihong shivered and his eyelids twitched uncontrollably...
"Maybe she went to visit someone on the way. Alright, let’s get ready for dinner!" Qin Shou called out.
Tianpeng, unwilling to give up, shouted again, but still no one responded, and he reluctantly gave up.
Just then, the rabbit called out, "Tianpeng! Dinner’s ready, come and eat!"
Tianpeng was taken aback and said subconsciously, "This fast? What did you make that’s tasty? It’s not leftovers, is it? In the Heavenly Court, we Heavenly Gods always serve freshly made dishes to our guests!"
One thought dominated Tianpeng’s heart: delaying time, staying a bit longer, what if Chang’e returned the next moment? That’s why he wanted freshly made food!
Then he saw the rabbit give a sly smile and say, "Don’t worry, it’s all freshly made! Super fresh!"
The scene shifted to the dining room of the Moon Palace!
On a long table, the rabbit and Tianpeng sat opposite each other with two plates in front of them, one with white radishes and the other with carrots.
Qin Shou wrapped a scarf around himself, gestured with his hand, and said, "Tianpeng, don’t be shy, eat!"
Tianpeng looked at the two plates of raw radishes and swallowed hard, saying, "Well... don’t mind if I do, I’m not hungry."
"Not hungry? Then that’s it, dinner’s over." Qin Shou stood up, collected the two plates of radishes, and said, "Now that we’re fed and watered, let’s go for a stroll."
Fed my ass!
Watered my aunt!
A stroll with your sister-in-law’s husband?!
I haven’t even eaten yet, okay? Do you always treat guests like this?
Roars of frustration echoed in Tianpeng’s heart...
But Qin Shou was so quick to act that Tianpeng didn’t even have a chance to say stop or that he wanted to eat. By the time he realized what was happening, the rabbit had already run to the main entrance, calling him outside!
Tianpeng immediately felt duped and asked, "Rabbit, where is Fairy Chang’e?"
"I have no idea. When you came back, didn’t you see? There was nobody at home," Qin Shou said.
Tianpeng looked back at the Moon Palace, but there was also no sign of anyone; he just couldn’t reconcile himself to this!
What could he do, though? As a guest, it wasn’t really appropriate to search the host’s house right in front of them, was it? So, he had no choice but to reluctantly go for a walk with the rabbit...
All along the way, Tianpeng kept looking back every three steps, and lifting his head every five, to see if Chang’e had emerged from the Moon Palace or if she had returned from outside...
But alas, as the sky began to darken and time ran out, Tianpeng had still not seen Chang’e return.
With no other option, Tianpeng had to bid farewell and leave.
Watching Tianpeng’s retreating figure, Qin Shou pulled a bird leg out of his pocket, and while munching on it, murmured, "Timely Rain, what a good man..."
Back inside the Moon Palace, Chang’e poked her head out of the window, whispering, "Shh... shh... Yu’er, has that ruffian left?"
Seeing Chang’e acting like a thief, Qin Shou, helpless, said, "Alright, come out. This is our own home, after all; can you not act like a burglar?"
Chang’e pouted and complained, "How is this my fault? He’s powerful and influential; we can’t afford to offend him, so shouldn’t we hide?"
Qin Shou shook his head, unable to do anything about it. Chang’e clearly had her biases against many of the gods in the Heavenly Court, bringing the ways of the mortal realm up to Heaven.
Although Qin Shou hadn’t had much contact with the immortals of the Heavenly Court, he generally felt that they weren’t bad at heart.
Even Tianpeng, who if placed in the mortal world would be a great marshal with real military power. If he fancied a palace maid, he would have just taken her home by now; why would he bother with all this scheming?
But Tianpeng could not do such a thing, for he couldn’t afford to lose face; this was the constraint of morality, which still held great power over those with a moral compass in their hearts.
Besides, if he dared to do so, he would probably be thrown into the heavenly prison the next day...
This was the law in the Heavenly Court; it appeared lenient, but it had a baseline that no one could cross.
Here, morality wasn’t the safety net; the law was the safety net. If you crossed the line of decency and weren’t afraid of losing face, then the law would swiftly teach you how to behave.
So, Qin Shou lived a carefree life, while Chang’e still had her worries...
Qin Shou didn’t say much more, but took out the vegetables Tianpeng had given him earlier and placed them on the table. He grabbed a handful of soil, tossed it on the table, and suddenly there were a few candles. He lit the candles, sprinkled some osmanthus petals, poured two glasses of liquor, and looked at the peerless beauty in front of him, her cheeks flushed by the candlelight... Qin Shou squinted his eyes, a face full of bliss and thought to himself, ’What is happiness? This is happiness!’
Chang’e clearly didn’t understand the significance of a candlelight dinner but, rolling up her sleeve, she tore off a chicken leg and bit into it, instantly ruining the atmosphere...
Qin Shou sighed with resignation, "The generation gap..."
"Yu’er, what did you say?" Chang’e asked.
Qin Shou shook his head and said, "It’s nothing, let’s eat."
At the same time, Qing Shou, looking at the familiar candlelight, was swept back to his memories of Earth. He was momentarily overwhelmed with nostalgia, missing that world. Missing phones, computers, movies... cough, cough... those familiar clothes...
Clothes?
Qin Shou’s eyes suddenly lit up. Looking at the stunning Chang’e before him, he couldn’t help but fantasize, "What kind of aura would Chang’e have if she wore the beautiful clothes from my previous life? I’ve seen the classical ones; I haven’t seen modern ones yet... Office ladies, military police, school uniforms, bikinis... Damn, for the sake of my homesickness, I must make those clothes! No, I have no other intentions, I just miss home..."
Qin Shou was passionately justifying to himself in his heart...
"Yu’er, what are you thinking about?" Chang’e, seeing the Rabbit not eating and just staring at her, couldn’t help but ask.
Qin Shou chuckled and said, "Nothing, just thought of some nice things. Silly girl, I thought of some really pretty clothes. Do you want to try them?"
