Chapter 192: Chapter 191 Anger to the Point of Liver Pain [Subscribe Request]_1
Qin Shou, holding the sign, was displeased and shouted, "Manager! Come out! We have someone welching on a bet, and to top that off, they’re slandering others! Is there no one in charge here?"
Tianpeng laughed and said, "With all that commotion just now and no one stepping in, what makes you think..."
"Who says no one’s in charge? Yunding Market is the Heavenly Court’s marketplace, regulated by strict laws; who would dare cause trouble here?" While speaking, a man clad in white armor approached, accompanied by a squad of heavenly soldiers.
Upon seeing this, Tianpeng immediately felt displeased. He held a much higher rank than the commander of Yunding Market; however, in this situation, he had no face to reveal his identity.
After all, it was one thing for Tianpeng Marshal to come to Yunding Market, but to have been swindled out of a thousand Red Spirit Crystals and, in the blink of an eye, another ten thousand—it would be humiliating if word got out!
Thus, Tianpeng humphed twice but said nothing more.
The Rabbit, however, cried out, "Sir, it’s this man causing trouble! I was running my business peacefully. Everything was written clearly, and my sign was displayed right here. He didn’t follow the rules, which I could have overlooked, but he smashed my eggs and then demanded money from me! I’ve never seen such shamelessness!"
Pfft!
As soon as the Rabbit spoke, many people burst out laughing on the spot.
Everyone thought the arrival of the commander would put an end to the spectacle, but they didn’t expect the Rabbit to be so shameless!
"Sir, I beseech you to see through this; it was he who set up this trap to swindle others, yet somehow it has turned around to look like he’s the victim—the nerve of this guy!" The way Tianpeng addressed the commander as ’sir’ sounded extremely awkward, resembling how the emperor might address a lowly county official as ’my lord’.
This awkward address did not please the commander.
Qin Shou then immediately said, "General, I’m just a small businessman, and I’ve written things clearly enough—a single superfluous word there isn’t. Look at how clear it is! The prices are marked, fair to young and old. But this man, without so much as a word, shoved money at me and then smashed my eggs. I asked him to compensate, and he accused me of being unreasonable. Please, you be the judge..."
The general glanced at the sign Qin Shou was holding high and nodded slightly, saying, "It’s written very clearly. Pay up."
"What?" Tianpeng was dumbfounded, the Rabbit was clearly scamming people, and this guy was siding with the Rabbit?
Tianpeng protested, "I object!"
"I am Bai Ling, commander of Yunding Market, tasked with investigating this matter. The situation has been thoroughly reviewed, and the Rabbit’s sign is very clear. If you don’t have the money, you could’ve refrained from participating. But you chose to pay to play, and now you refuse to settle up; that’s where you went wrong. Not only did you refuse, but you also broke one of the shop’s eggs, and for that, you should compensate. You can object, but this is the verdict. Now, you can choose to pay, or you can opt for jail. Take your pick," Bai Ling stated firmly and impartially.
Tianpeng yelled, "Can’t you see? This guy is playing word games!"
Bai Ling looked towards the Rabbit, "Rabbit, what do you say?"
Qin Shou said, "Sir, how did I play word games? I’m not a fool. If I were to use a hammer to smash eggs, wouldn’t I be guaranteeing my own ruin? How could I possibly do something so idiotic? Clearly, not only a merchant but also any sane person wouldn’t do such a thing. Therefore, as long as one doesn’t harbor bad intentions, isn’t thinking crookedly, or simply, as long as one has a brain, they should understand my intent, right?
Otherwise, why, in what is clearly a profitable business, with so many spectators, did only you take action? Do you think everyone else is a fool? They know it’s a profitable business, but they don’t act?"
The crowding onlookers blushed and hung their heads silently... It wasn’t that they hadn’t acted, but rather that this guy had acted too quickly!
But this kind of embarrassing and humiliating admission is something everyone would definitely deny.
Instead, they nodded furiously, implying, "We figured it out, only this idiot didn’t see it coming; serves him right!" to indicate they were clever and not fools.
Qin Shou said, "Look, everyone’s nodding. Are you still not convinced?"
Tianpeng, with his eyes widened, said, "Rabbit, that’s sophistry."
Qin Shou replied, "Not at all. I’m just analyzing from the viewpoint of a normal person. I’m not stupid enough to conduct business at a loss, right?"
Tianpeng: "..."
Bai Ling said, "You’re clearly blinded by interests. You rashly smashed someone else’s bird eggs. What excuses could you possibly have? Either pay up or take it away, pick one."
Tianpeng glared with wide eyes. He knew that at this point, there was nothing left to say. He also realized that he had indeed fallen into a trap—and he had jumped in willingly.
And this Bai Ling seemed to be taking the Rabbit’s side, too.
As for the crowd that was enjoying the show... he also noticed that these guys were all helping to bury him by getting rid of the title of fool...
Tianpeng would never let himself be caught. Once captured, his disguise would be revealed.
By then, it wouldn’t just be a simple matter of losing money; it would be a loss of face known to everyone!
How could he face commanding troops in the future?
So, Tianpeng gritted his teeth and said, "Rabbit, can we reduce it a bit?"
Qin Shou smiled and said, "I’m particularly generous. I’ll give you a 0.003 discount. Just compensate me with 9970 Red Spirit Crystals."
Tianpeng, upon hearing this, exclaimed, "How is that any different from no discount at all?"
"You think I didn’t discount enough?" asked Qin Shou in surprise.
Tianpeng said, "Of course it’s not enough! It’s like there’s no discount at all!"
Qin Shou slapped his thigh and said, "Since the discount is like none at all, then let’s not have any discount! Pay up, 10,000 Red Spirit Crystals, not one less!"
Tianpeng: "..."
"Pfft..." The onlookers couldn’t hold back any longer and started to snicker quietly.
Even Bai Ling was trying to keep a straight face, but his occasionally curling lips revealed everything—he was about to lose it!
Tianpeng dropped down 10,000 Red Spirit Crystals and said, "Consider yourself ruthless!"
After putting down the 10,000 Red Spirit Crystals, Tianpeng gritted his teeth and said, "Rabbit, I’ll smash it one more time!" His thought process was clear. How hard could it be to wreck an ordinary hammer? Now that he knew, it was just a matter of taking action!
But before his words had even finished, the Rabbit with lightning speed collected all his things and then smiled, "Today’s event comes to an end."
Tianpeng was so angry that his nose turned crooked... He stomped his foot and turned to leave.
However, someone suddenly hugged his thigh.
"What are you doing?!" Tianpeng looked down at the Rabbit hugging his leg and shouted angrily.
Then he heard the Rabbit say, "Have you forgotten our bet? I just used ordinary items and made more than 10,000 Red Spirit Crystals. And it was 20,000, to be precise... A yellow level Nine Star magic treasure, it’s time to hand it over, isn’t it?"
"I... Cao... You earn my money, and I still have to give you a magic treasure?" Tianpeng was so angry he could almost vomit his liver out.
Qin Shou naively and innocently said, "But aren’t you the mighty Tian..."
