Rabbit Must Die -
Chapter 182 - 181: Yunding Market, Rabbit Business_1
Chapter 182: Chapter 181: Yunding Market, Rabbit Business_1
Tianpeng sneered, "The only ones who come and go there are noteworthy Immortals. The goods being sold are all immortal-level magic treasures. Anything less than immortal level doesn’t even have the qualification to be displayed. You think you can hoodwink someone with just a few words? I’m afraid you won’t earn any money but instead might get yourself killed. Let me tell you, I’ll help you do business, but I won’t be responsible for your life or death. If you get killed, don’t blame me for not assisting you. How about it? I’ll remind you one last time, if you go down there, you might actually make a bit of money."
Qin Shou waved his hand, "What’s with all the nonsense, driver? Hurry up and drive! To Yunding Market we go! Today ’I’ will let you see what real business is like!"
Upon hearing this, Tianpeng laughed even more joyously; his previous words had been a reverse psychology trick.
But what he had said was also true. Yunding Market had all kinds of Immortals, and although there were no Demons, that did not mean these individuals were all good people.
Blindly deceiving people was still an easy way to get beaten up...
If some petty person took notice, being ambushed and killed on the way out was not impossible.
If the Rabbit actually got carried away and really did try to fool someone and then died...
Tianpeng thought to himself with a smirk, "Well, then I’ll just attend the funeral and happen to see Chang’e. After consoling her... wouldn’t that bring us closer together? And then... ha ha... I am simply a genius!"
Tianpeng, in high spirits, took Qin Shou to fly above the clouds, where indeed there lay a market square built of white jade!
The square was divided into two levels. The first level consisted of boutique shops, which were actually huge palaces with giant signs hanging above them: "Divine Wood Valley, Tianji Pavilion, God Casting Valley, and so on..."
The level above was a clean and vast platform without any shops!
Right at that moment, the platform was filled with people sitting in rows, voluntarily lining up. In front of them lay a rug with various treasures displayed on it, while banners floated above their heads, listing the goods they were selling...
In the middle of the road, people were coming and going in droves...
There were even heavenly soldiers patrolling back and forth; it looked like they were the ones keeping order.
Tianpeng said, "Rabbit, how about it? Pretty lively, right? Haven’t seen such a big scene before, have you?"
Qin Shou smacked his lips, "Who says? This scene is pretty much like the one I saw beneath the overpass back in the day, where masters were selling their panaceas that claimed to cure cancer..."
"What overpass? What..."
"Never mind, with your intelligence, even if I explain it you won’t understand," the Rabbit waved dismissively.
Suppressing the urge to strangle the damn Rabbit, Tianpeng said, "Rabbit, didn’t you want to earn money? How are you going to make it? Hurry up!"
Qin Shou chuckled, "Just watch! But you’ll have to help."
"Help with what?" Tianpeng asked.
Qin Shou replied, "The treasure I am selling soon is the world’s number one, a unique and priceless item. As for its value... I don’t know the exact price. But one thing is for sure, you need to help me guard it, and not let people simply take a peek for free, understand?"
Upon hearing this, Tianpeng burst into laughter, "You foolish Rabbit, this is Yunding Market. There are Arrays here for protection. No one’s Divine Sense can reach out, so who could see through your treasure? But what kind of treasure do you have, anyway?"
Qin Shou held his head high, haughtily saying, "As I said, it’s the world’s number one, a unique and priceless treasure! For viewing only, not for sale! Since no one can see it, then you’re of no use, go stand off to the side."
Upon hearing this, Tianpeng grew curious and asked, "Can I take a look first?"
Qin Shou chuckled and extended a claw, rubbing his fingertips together—charging a fee!
Tianpeng rolled his eyes, tilted his head back, turned around, and without even glancing at the Rabbit, strolled off on his own: "Rabbit, I’m going to look around and see if there’s anything I want to buy. You better hurry up and make some money before nightfall, or you’ll have lost the wager."
Qin Shou waved his hand and said, "We’ll talk when you come back."
Although Tianpeng didn’t look back and appeared completely nonchalant, curiosity itched at him unbearably, compelling him to turn around. What he saw was the Rabbit finding a secluded corner, turning his back to him, sticking out his rump, busily fiddling with something or other...
"A stupid, poor Rabbit that doesn’t even have a yellow-level Third Rank magic treasure, a poor Rabbit without table or chairs at home, what kind of peerless treasure could he have? Surely it’s all bluff... I won’t pay him any more attention." Tianpeng shook his head and wandered off, casually observing the bustling activity around him.
However, today, no matter how many pills or magic treasures he saw, he just couldn’t get into it; all his thoughts were on the Rabbit.
Even though he wasn’t really looking at the goods, he saw quite a few familiar faces, and the more he saw, the more alarmed he became, exclaiming inwardly: "Good heavens, isn’t that the little tyrant from the South Sea, Ao Sui? I heard he was beaten up before, but who could have guessed he’d still be so lively?"
"Hey, that’s the master of the Three-ringed Cave, an old geezer from the ninth heaven of Earthly Immortal rank... I didn’t expect to see him strolling around here too."
"Ah, Yao Sanqian came as well, isn’t he supposed to be preparing to breakthrough to the Golden Immortal realm?"
Seeing all these Earthly Immortals, Golden Immortals, or the second-generation kids with powerful backers running around, Tianpeng grinned and touched his chest, murmuring: "Good, very good... With so many formidable individuals here, there’s no worry that nobody will smack that Rabbit dead, sparing me the trouble of mourning! Haha... marvelous!"
Tianpeng had originally planned to make a full circle, but his mind was preoccupied with the wager against the Rabbit, and he couldn’t settle down, so he simply stopped circling and turned back.
The moment he turned around, he was stunned—the Rabbit was gone!
Where the Rabbit had been, people were now crowding around in inner and outer rings, craning their necks and seemingly peering at something.
"What the heck is the Rabbit up to?" Tianpeng grew curious as well, pushing his way through the crowd to have a look.
He saw a Rabbit sitting cross-legged on the ground, with his arms folded in front of his chest, eyes downcast and motionless...
In front of the Rabbit was a large bowl, overturned on the ground, hiding whatever was underneath it. Beneath the bowl was a black cloth with several lines of text written on it: "The object in this bowl is unmatched in all the land, look but do not buy, a thousand Red Spirit Crystals for a single glance, no one is allowed a second look, no amount of money will suffice!"
Tianpeng furrowed his brow when he saw this but couldn’t deny he was a bit curious.
Curious what treasure the damn Rabbit had hidden under the bowl that a single glance would cost a thousand Red Spirit Crystals.
To want a second look, no amount of money would grant it...
What exactly was beneath the bowl that made it so mysterious?
While Tianpeng wondered, the onlooker Immortals around him were equally puzzled. Since the use of Divine Sense was restricted at Yunding Market and abilities like the clairvoyant sight were ineffective, they could only gaze on dumbfounded and speculate quietly.
"What do you think is under the Rabbit’s bowl?" asked Immortal A.
"I don’t know... Could it possibly be a nature spirit treasure?" speculated Immortal B.
"I think a nature spirit treasure is unlikely, but a nurture spiritual treasure could be probable. It’s just that I’ve never heard of any treasure that one could only glance at once! What exactly is it that’s so mystical? It couldn’t be a scam, could it?" mused Immortal C.
