Rabbit Must Die -
Chapter 102 Rabbit’s Friendship_1
Chapter 102: Chapter 102 Rabbit’s Friendship_1
Chang’e puzzledly asked, "Do what? You’d better rest early to save some energy. Or how about some osmanthus?"
Qin Shou rolled his eyes and said, "I, the great Rabbit, have been to the Heavenly Court, how can I eat osmanthus every day? Come on, girl, the Rabbit here is treating you to a feast!"
Chang’e curiously asked, "What feast?"
Qin Shou chuckled, lit the gathered firewood, then took out a plump thigh and set it over the flames, saying, "Flower Mink hind leg meat!"
Then Qin Shou took out a golden, glistening and still dripping roasted toad and placed it before them, saying, "This was from my hunt in the Heavenly Court; come, take a taste."
Chang’e hadn’t eaten meat in a long time, and her eyes lit up at the sight of it. Forgetting all about her image, the pair—girl and rabbit—sat cross-legged on the ground, gobbling meat and swigging wine, and struck up a conversation.
Chang’e looked delicate, but when it came to eating, she was not outdone by Qin Shou at all! The two of them polished off the enormous toad to the bone!
Chang’e, patting her slightly bulging belly, sighed, "Ah... that was such a filling meal. Yu’er, why is this toad missing a hind leg?"
Qin Shou, tipsily wobbling, blurted out an excuse, "Its mom gave birth to it with just three legs—that’s a question for its mom."
Chang’e chuckled...
As the night grew darker, Chang’e, unable to hold her liquor, blushed after drinking a while, looking exceptionally seductive.
Qin Shou, looking at Chang’e at this moment, felt no desires, only a heart full of satisfaction. See that? Such a beautiful girl was with me!
Most importantly, Qin Shou had finally managed to improve Chang’e’s life with his own abilities... That was what he was proudest of, and he swore inwardly: I shall never be a drag in this life! Accompanied by a girl, I’ll live the good life nobody can stand in my way!
If any other transmigrators heard this, their teeth would probably fall out laughing—this must be the lowest request among all transmigrators... No battling against Heaven, no slaying gods and Buddhas, this damn rabbit just wanted to live a quiet life.
But, is a quiet life that easy to live?
In the middle of the night, Chang’e went back to sleep.
Qin Shou, looking at the bones scattered on the ground, remarked, "Can’t let these go to waste..."
So, Qin Shou gathered the bones and scurried off into the depths of the osmanthus forest.
A while later.
"Damn rabbit, why are you here again?!" Wu Gang, bare-chested with his clothes serving as a makeshift belt to hold up his pants, and with shoes hanging around his neck, clutched a huge axe with a glare that screamed, one step closer and I’ll chop you to death.
Qin Shou spread his hands and said, "Gang, look at that pride of yours. Tell me, what do I possibly have left to covet on you?"
Wu Gang thought for a moment, subconsciously touched his shoes, and said, "Scram! Get far away from me!"
Qin Shou sighed and said, "Ah, good intentions are mistaken for a fool’s errand. Fine, I’ll just eat by myself!"
After that, Qin Shou moved to the side, took out a few rib bones that hadn’t been eaten but had hardly any meat left, and started gnawing on them.
For a moment, the fragrance of meat wafted over, and Wu Gang, who hadn’t eaten meat or touched oil for who knows how many tens of thousands of years, felt his saliva breach its banks in an instant, unable to swallow it back down, and quickly wiped it away...
"Gang, what are you looking at me for? Get back to chopping trees..." Qin Shou teased, waving the rib bone in his hand.
Wu Gang hardly glanced at the damn rabbit, his eyes fixed on the rib bone instead... He wiped his drool and tried to squeeze out what he thought was his friendliest smile, sidling up and chuckling, "Rabbit, why did you come to my place, really?"
Patting his belly, Qin Shou said, "I went to the Heavenly Court, ate my fill, drank to my heart’s content; why would I crave your pair of worn-out shoes? I came, of course, out of consideration for an old neighbor, to bring you a grand meal. But then...ah well, I’ll just eat it myself."
Having said that, he stuffed the rib into his mouth and crunched away, bones and all.
"Hey, hey, hey... Rabbit, slow down... slow down... Damn, slow the hell down!" Wu Gang watched as the large rib bone was rapidly being devoured by the rabbit, like it was gnawing on a carrot, and immediately slammed his axe down in front of Qin Shou, yelling at the top of his lungs.
Qin Shou’s movements instantly froze, and with a sidelong glance at Wu Gang, he asked, "What’s up? When I’m eating meat, I don’t like distractions. Can that axe wait until later?"
On hearing this, Wu Gang quickly hid the axe behind him, maintaining his smile and said, "Rabbit, look, about that meat of yours... maybe share a bit with me?"
On hearing this, Qin Shou burst into laughter.
Seeing this, Wu Gang thought, "Is this damn rabbit going to take advantage of the situation and ask for a king’s ransom?"
But then he watched as the rabbit took out a pile of rib bones and placed them on the ground, saying, "I knew you’d be craving meat, the greedy thing you are! I brought a whole lot for you!"
Wu Gang’s eyes reddened as he looked over, slapping the rabbit’s head and said, "Rabbit, good on you, I didn’t misjudge you!"
Having said that, Wu Gang reached out to grab the meat.
"Stop!" Qin Shou quickly called out.
Wu Gang, puzzled, looked at Qin Shou and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Qin Shou had only intended to tease Wu Gang initially, but seeing him not the least bit picky, even willing to eat well-gnawed bones, he felt a pang of compassion and said, "Erm... those have been gnawed on by me."
Wu Gang shook his head, "Doesn’t matter, you have no idea. In this wretched place, I can’t even remember how many years it’s been since I last tasted meat. Just a taste is enough..."
Seeing this, Qin Shou felt a twinge of sadness, his mind turning to the pitiful life of the silly rabbit, then looking at Wu Gang, he suddenly felt a kinship and exclaimed, "Never mind, don’t take those. I’ve kept a big portion for you."
With that, Qin Shou took out from the Black Demon Box a thigh as tall as a man — the very piece missing from the toad.
Qin Shou may be somewhat petty, but he also knew how to repay a debt of gratitude. In any case, his present circumstances were all thanks to Wu Gang. The opportunity to travel through time was facilitated by Wu Gang, and his survival to this day also owed much to him. One look at Wu Gang, barely clothed, was enough to understand the extent of his sacrifices.
If it were anyone else, the rabbit would have died several times over already; how could he still be hopping around flirting with Chang’e?
Therefore, Qin Shou remembered the grudges against Wu Gang, but he also remembered the good. He had never intended to keep the toad all to himself. He had prepared Wu Gang’s portion from the start. Bringing these bones was simply to poke fun at Wu Gang...
It’s just that he never expected Wu Gang’s life as an Immortal to be so miserable...
Wu Gang, looking at the huge toad thigh Qin Shou held, gawking at the glistening meat, drool streamed down as he asked, "This... is for me?"
