Chapter 466: Chapter 465: Encountered a Great Good Person
"Are you very familiar with this area?" Xing Ling asked.
"I was exiled in the United States by my brother for quite a long time," Ye Yuli said with a bitter smile. "And I’ve studied here before, so I’m definitely familiar. You don’t think I’m stalking you, do you?"
"You’re not him," the ’him’ Xing Ling referred to was Ye Sihan.
"Last time there were children around, so I didn’t bring it up. I’ve already learned about what Meng Jilin did to you," Ye Yuli said. "That man truly was a lunatic; it’s absurd you considered him a friend."
"It’s all in the past now."
"Did he say anything to you?"
"He just talked about how he killed Sister Xue."
Ye Yuli thought to himself, so Meng Jilin didn’t mention him.
Initially, he had cooperated with Meng Jilin.
Fortunately, Meng Jilin had died; otherwise, he would have also been a threat to him.
"Can I take you out to eat often from now on?" Ye Yuli asked.
"I’m okay with eating, but doing it often might not work because I need to act, and when I have downtime, I definitely want to spend more time with the children," Xing Ling said.
Ye Yuli had his own ulterior motives: he hoped to gradually get closer to her and win back Xing Ling’s heart.
He wasn’t saying it now for fear she would reject him.
"Are you not divorcing because Ye Sihan is pressuring you? It’s been three years; do you plan to be kept on a leash by him forever? I’m thinking of your best interests; don’t foolishly fail to fight for yourself," Ye Yuli said.
"I can wait," Xing Ling said. "When Ye Sihan meets another woman who moves his heart, he will take the initiative to divorce me."
"Don’t be too naive. Ye Sihan never wanted to get married in the first place. Now that there’s a child, he doesn’t even need to worry about an heir. He can find women anywhere he likes without a wife to answer to; his life couldn’t be more comfortable. So why trouble himself to divorce you and find a headache? Whether he divorces you or not doesn’t matter to him; what’s important is that he can control you."
Xing Ling fell silent.
Is that so?
It’s been three years, and indeed, Ye Sihan had never approached her about divorce.
"You haven’t seen each other for three years; you could proceed with legal actions," Ye Yuli suggested.
"Let’s talk about it later," Xing Ling had no such desire because she feared that once she brought up divorce, the ’peace’ that currently existed between her and Ye Sihan would shatter.
Ye Yuli sighed helplessly after hearing what she said.
"You say it doesn’t matter to Ye Sihan whether or not he divorces, but actually it doesn’t matter to me either, as long as he doesn’t show up in front of me," Xing Ling said.
Ye Yuli kept a poker face.
Thinking, it might not matter to her, but to him it mattered a great deal!
If Xing Ling didn’t divorce, how could he persuade her to accept him?
"What if he does show up?" He asked again.
"It’s been three years, and he hasn’t appeared; he probably won’t in the future either."
"Xiaoyu, you’re avoiding the issue," Ye Yuli frowned.
"I’ll deal with it myself," Xing Ling said, not wanting to continue the discussion.
After finishing the meal, Xing Ling and Ye Yuli went their separate ways.
Sitting in the car, looking out the window, her mind was filled with Ye Yuli’s words.
To be honest, Ye Sihan having persisted for three years without mentioning divorce was longer than she had expected.
She had thought it would only be about one or two years.
Also, was there a hint in Ye Yuli’s words? It seemed like he was telling her that Ye Sihan was ready to find women in the capital at any time?
With his power and wealth, that wouldn’t be surprising.
Moreover, how could a man go three years without a woman?
Xing Ling’s face remained expressionless.
Despite having a marriage certificate, psychologically, she and Ye Sihan were both considered divorced, single.
She could find a man, and Ye Sihan could find a woman.
Large raindrops began to hit the car window, and Xing Ling realized that the sky had turned ominously dark; suddenly, a torrential downpour began.
After driving for about five minutes, the car came to a stop.
Xing Ling asked, "What’s wrong?"
The driver said, "It seems like we’ve broken down, I’ll go have a look."
The driver propped up his umbrella and went to check the front of the car.
Xing Ling waited in the car.
After quite a while, the driver still hadn’t fixed the car.
Xing Ling propped up an umbrella and went out.
In just that short time, the ground had formed several puddles.
Once her shoes stepped in, they were wet.
"How is it?"
"I called the tow truck company, but I don’t know how long it will take. Miss Xing, please wait in the car," the driver said.
Xing Ling glanced at the time on her watch; she had promised to go with Xibao to choose a piano.
The efficiency of this country in such matters was surprisingly low; by the time the tow truck would arrive, it would be night.
What to do?
A beam of bright light flashed by, and a commercial van approached and stopped nearby.
A driver got out, an Asian face.
"Need any help?" The driver looked at Xing Ling, his expression one of astonishment. "Are you that big star from China? I’m also Chinese. I mean no harm; I just saw your car stopped here and wondered if you needed help."
Xing Ling’s driver asked, "Miss Xing, why don’t you let his car give you a ride for a while?"
Xing Ling was surprised that her driver asked this, besides, the man was a stranger, firstly, it wasn’t safe; secondly, he might not be willing!
"Where are you headed? I’ll see if it’s on my way," said the driver.
Xing Ling’s driver gave the school’s address.
The driver of the commercial van thought for a moment and said, "It’s on the way. I know that school and often pass by there."
Xing Ling looked toward the commercial van, "Are there other people in the car?"
"My boss is in the back seat; you can take the passenger seat," the driver said.
Xing Ling hesitated, and her driver said beside her, "Miss Xing, you’re already getting wet; it’s better to get in the car. Xiaoyu must already be waiting for you."
Under normal circumstances, she would rather wait dry in the car than take a ride from a stranger.
But to her, the child was always the top priority—she couldn’t bear even making Xibao wait.
So she got into the passenger seat of the commercial van.
After all, her driver knew the license plate of the commercial van and could track her whereabouts at any moment, and she was a famous star, so nothing untoward should happen.
After getting into the passenger seat, Xing Ling turned to look back, wanting to thank the man’s boss.
But all she could see was a privacy screen that was tightly secured.
What she didn’t know, however, was that the screen was one-way.
That is, the person in the back could see her, but she couldn’t see them.
Nevertheless, Xing Ling still said, "Thank you, and sorry for the trouble."
The person behind the partition didn’t respond.
Xing Ling froze for a moment, wondering if they hadn’t heard or what.
"Wipe yourself off? The towel has been disinfected," the driver offered a neatly folded towel and said.
"Thank you," Xing Ling regained her composure, took the towel, and wiped the rain off her forehead, neck, and arms.
She thought to herself that this boss seemed to be quite kind.
So kind that she started to wonder if he had an ulterior motive.
After all, he was a stranger.
However, when the driver started the car and drove steadily on the road, he said, "My boss is a very charitable person, always doing good deeds. Don’t think of us as bad guys."
Xing Ling laughed uncomfortably, "Of course not."
She noticed the route they were taking outside, and it was indeed the familiar route to the school.
It seemed she really had met a charitable person.
