Chapter 461 - 460: Almost Cut from the Same Cloth

Chapter 461: Chapter 460: Almost Cut from the Same Cloth

The door swung open, and an eight-year-old boy entered, slapping a basketball as he walked.

Taller than his peers, the baby fat on his face had faded, contouring his features more sharply, his appearance becoming chiseled, exuding hints of aggression.

Passing the corner of the hall, at the base of the stairs, there was a basketball hoop on the wall; he casually tossed the ball into it, where it was caught by the net.

Junjun took a sip of water before flopping down onto the couch.

No sooner had he lain down than the door opened again, and another boy who looked exactly like Junjun and was the same height walked in.

It was Zhengzheng who, upon seeing Junjun, asked, "You’re back? Wasn’t there a basketball game?"

"Moved to tomorrow. Don’t you have a fencing match, didn’t you go?"

Zhengzheng didn’t respond.

Junjun really wanted to roll his eyes, "What have you been up to behind my back again?"

"Nothing much, just that mom will be back this afternoon," Zhengzheng said indifferently.

Jumping up from the sofa, Junjun exclaimed, "You call this nothing? Ye Zhengzong, you’re always playing tricks on me!"

"Am I?" Zhengzheng shrugged innocently.

The one who had just entered was Haohao, of course, sharing the same face as Zhengzheng and Junjun, the same long legs. Sensing the tense atmosphere in the room, he was faintly excited, "Fight time?"

Zhengzheng just sighed as if having two more brothers in the house was a nuisance to him.

Junjun asked, "Weren’t you going to the math Olympiad competition?"

"The competition ended yesterday," Haohao said dispassionately. "Hey, you haven’t said yet, what were you arguing about just now?"

Ignoring him, Junjun approached Zhengzheng, "Did mom call you? What time is she coming back?"

"She said around four o’clock," Zhengzheng replied.

Haohao, stirred up, rushed over, nearly unable to stop in time, "Mom’s coming back? This afternoon? Fuck! Why didn’t you tell me? Lucky I ran back from school, otherwise I wouldn’t have known! Are you guys even brothers? You’re fakes, right?"

Junjun immediately said, "I just found out too, he’s the one who knew early and kept it from us two!"

"Ye Zhengzong, watch me take you down!" Haohao lunged straight at him.

Junjun followed suit, and the two of them pinned Zhengzheng to the ground.

Zhengzheng, unwilling to show weakness, flipped over and started grappling with them.

Two against one.

Xing Yanjie returned to find three teenagers tumbling on the ground, struggling with one another; he chuckled and said, "You’re quite affectionate, aren’t you?"

After speaking, he stepped on one of their upturned buttocks.

The trio stopped fighting and separated.

"Uncle, why’d you step on me?" Junjun.

"Uncle, did you know mom was coming back too?" Haohao.

"I don’t know anything," Xing Yanjie shook his head, not at all surprised.

That meant he did know!

The teenagers weren’t so easily fooled.

"Is Xibao coming back too?" Junjun asked.

"I told Xibao," Zhengzheng said.

The brothers might keep it a secret, but they wouldn’t hide it from their sister.

Swinging his long leg decisively, Junjun aimed a kick.

Zhengzheng swiftly dodged it.

Why were they so eager for their mother to return?

Because she had been filming away from home for a month, how could they not miss her?

It was even harder than catching a glimpse of their father.

When they missed mom, they either video-called or watched her on TV.

Outside, the sound of a car engine stirred, and the three boys paused momentarily; Junjun was the fastest to react, with Haohao on his heels.

Zhengzheng’s heart raced with excitement, though he maintained a calm façade.

The car stopped at the front door, Xing Ling stepped down—slender, elegant, her fair face as unchanged as it had been three years ago.

She turned to hold the hand of the girl behind her, who hopped out of the car.

A bit chubby, the girl’s skin was soft and delicate, seemingly water-filled at a touch, wearing a dress for the sake of appearance, under which she wore leggings for safety, and on her feet were pink leather shoes with pretty embedded diamonds.

Despite her roundness, her characteristic facial features were unmistakable, her eyes pure and sparkling.

This was the eight-year-old Xibao.

"Mom!"

"Mom!"

"Mom!"

"Mom!"

Xing Ling saw her three sons rushing towards her and stretched out her hands with a smile, just like when they were little, fearing they might fall, "Don’t trip."

The three young masters, however, didn’t throw themselves at her recklessly like they used to because they were aware of their own weight and knew they had to protect their mother.

"Mom, I’ve missed you so much!" Junjun said, standing properly.

"Is your work finished, Mom?" Zhengzheng asked.

"Does that mean you can stay home for a long time?" Haohao asked.

"Yeah, if I don’t take on any roles, I can stay for a very long time." Xing Ling looked at her three sons, who were now up to her shoulders, with an affectionate smile on her face.

She hadn’t seen the children for a month and she had missed them terribly.

So she planned not to take on any more roles in the future.

If she did, it would only be close to home where she could see her children anytime, anywhere.

"Xibao, what’s wrong?" Zhengzheng noticed Xibao’s silent expression and asked.

"Were you bullied?" Junjun asked.

"Tell your brother, and I’ll go bully them back for you!" Haohao said.

Xing Yanjie walked over, pulled Xibao towards him, and rubbed the top of her head, "Who bullied you?"

"They called me a little fat pig." Xibao was on the verge of crying with anger, and turned to bury her head into her mother’s chest.

Xing Ling held her.

Xibao loved to eat, so she was a bit chubbier than her peers, but not excessively so. She was plump but proportionate, which her mother thought was very cute.

"What? Who’s the scoundrel that said that? I’ll paralyze him from the waist down!" Junjun was ready to stick up for her, speaking with a slightly rough edge.

"Didn’t you talk back?" Zhengzheng asked.

Xibao revealed half her face, "I did. I told them I didn’t eat their family’s rice."

"Didn’t you slap that person in return?" Haohao frowned.

"No," Xibao huffed.

Xing Yanjie said, "Is there anyone in this world cuter than our Xibao?"

Xibao stood properly, very seriously, "I want to go on a diet!"

The others remained silent, harboring doubts in their hearts.

Because they knew Xibao all too well; at most she would skip one meal, then afterwards, she wouldn’t be able to help herself.

"Come on, climb on, let your brother give you a piggyback ride." Junjun crouched down.

Xibao got on his back.

Junjun lifted her up in one breath, "See, where have you gained weight? You’re light as a kitten." Saying this, he walked towards the house.

Xibao began to doubt herself, was she really not overweight?

Had she spoken too soon about going on a diet?

Should she still eat later?

Truth be told, she was a bit hungry after practicing the piano all afternoon.

Watching the four children ahead, Xing Yanjie shook his head with a smile.

Then he showed concern for his sister, "You, on the other hand, need to put on weight. After a month of shooting, your face has gotten much thinner."

"Has it?" Xing Ling touched her face.

"Hasn’t it?" Xing Yanjie pinched her face, "Where is there any fat on this?"

"Stop pinching." Xing Ling slapped his hand away. "From now on, even if I shoot a film, I won’t go far away."

"Good to know."

"Has big brother come back yet?" Xing Ling asked.

Xing Yanjie glanced at his watch, "He should be about to return."

At the dinner table, the Xing family brothers, Xing Ling, and the quadruplets sat. Xibao ate with relish, and naturally, no one brought up her dieting plans.

They lived like a true family, together in harmony and love.

Three years ago, when Xing Ling left the capital with the children, she did suggest finding another place to live to the Xing family brothers.

The brothers’ expressions turned very grim. They accused her of wanting to stop being a Xing family member upon regaining her memory and called her ungrateful, saying it with great severity.

Xing Ling couldn’t bear such an accusation, so she could only continue to be Xing Ling, living in a mansion with her brothers.

As time went by, Xing Ling felt she truly was the prized daughter of the Xing family.

After all, the affection between real siblings could hardly be more.

And the four children, they were adored by their uncles who watched them grow up.

At night, the quadruplets each went to their beds.

Xing Ling went to her children’s rooms, seeing her three sons’ faces looking more and more like that man’s, almost as if they were cast from the same mold, she couldn’t help but look slightly evasive.
