Quadruplets’ Charm: The Tycoon’s Hidden Heirs
Chapter 439 - 438: Feeding the Cat

Chapter 439: Chapter 438: Feeding the Cat

I had thought that Ye Sihan would be reluctant.

However, the bed became very lively at night, with the quadruplets jumping and rolling around on it, or else pestering mom and dad for stories.

Xing Ling had no objections to such an arrangement.

She had assumed Ye Sihan wouldn’t agree.

After all, wouldn’t a world with just the two of them be better than one with four more children?

The quadruplets lay scattered, with their heads resting on mom’s body and their feet propped up on dad’s.

Listening to mom tell stories.

They were five years old now and had much higher standards for storytelling than when they were two.

No princesses, no princes. They wanted mystery, adventure, and even Xibao listened attentively.

Half an hour later, Ye Sihan took the thick book from Xing Ling’s hands, "I’ll read, you go drink some water."

Xing Ling had no objections, she was actually thirsty.

She went to get water to drink, and while drinking, she turned back to look at the bed.

Ye Sihan patiently read novels to the quadruplets, who watched their dad, creating a very heartwarming scene.

Whenever she felt comfortable and contented with the atmosphere, memories of past events would jump into her mind, plunging her heart directly into an invincibly dark and gloomy deep pool.

Cold and painful.

Xing Ling withdrew her gaze and silently drank her water.

She still couldn’t bring herself to face Ye Sihan, no matter how beautiful everything seemed.

Only she knew that inside, she was already full of wounds that needed time to heal.

After finishing her water, Xing Ling returned to the bed and lay down next to the quadruplets.

Ye Sihan’s deep voice kept drilling into her ears, with a lethal effect.

Making her eyelashes heavy.

And she fell asleep before the children.

Ye Sihan stopped reading and stared deeply at the sleeping face, lost in thought.

Until Junjun’s little feet kicked him, "Daddy, read quickly!"

"Don’t make noise, mommy’s asleep," Ye Sihan lowered his voice.

The quadruplets turned their heads and saw their sleeping mother, their breathing became lighter.

Then they lay down obediently next to mom, with Xibao even burrowing closer in.

Xing Ling instinctively wrapped her arms around the children, without waking in the slightest.

Ye Sihan placed the book to one side, tilted his face and his gaze fell on Xing Ling’s face.

After the quadruplets had all fallen asleep, he leaned over and kissed Xing Ling’s lips, deeply inhaling the scent that belonged to her, so greedily.

Could he keep her here?

Would she be willing?

As long as she stayed, he would do anything...

After Xing Ling finished shooting for the day, her assistant handed her the phone, "Ms. Xing, it’s a call, from that man."

Xing Ling ignored Chen Xindian’s curious look and walked aside to answer the call, "Hello?"

"Could you do me a favor? Could you feed my cat? I’m afraid it will get hungry and run out again," Meng Jilin said on the phone.

"Is there no one in your house?"

"My aunt is tied up with something at home recently and can’t come. You know, when doctors get busy, they are on call day and night," Meng Jilin said tiredly.

"Didn’t you prepare food for it this morning?"

"I had an emergency surgery last night, and I rushed to the hospital in a hurry, forgetting to leave food for it."

"Oh, okay, but how should I get in?"

"I’ll tell you the password."

"Is that all right?"

"What’s wrong with that? Don’t I trust you? After all, we... it’s nothing, let’s just say that’s settled, thank you!"

Xing Ling could tell, what Meng Jilin originally wanted to say was that they had known each other before, and he knew her very well, which is why he trusted her to help feed the cat.

After hearing the story of how Meng Jilin kept a cat, Xing Ling couldn’t refuse.

After all, having a cat was related to her as well.

Seeing that there were no scenes for her at the moment, Xing Ling headed for Meng Jilin’s villa.

It wasn’t far, just a few minutes away.

Chen Xindian and Zhou Rui followed behind her.

They had volunteered to help feed the cat.

But Xing Ling thought that since Meng Jilin had entrusted her with this task, letting others go into his house might upset him.

However, the two assistants still followed her closely.

Because the last time she had been out of sight for a moment, something had happened, they were now particularly cautious.

"You guys wait outside, I’ll go in and feed it," said Xing Ling.

Chen Xindian couldn’t help saying, "Ms. Xing, I always feel a bit creeped out by that Dr. Meng, let us go in with you?"

"Creeped out?" Xing Ling was surprised by her description of Meng Jilin.

"I just don’t find him very sunny," Chen Xindian couldn’t quite explain.

Perhaps it was because of the look Meng Jilin had in his eyes last time, when he was watching them from behind the tree branches!

The impression was not good.

"Don’t worry, I know what kind of person he is," Xing Ling said.

She had known Meng Jilin since high school, a doctor who saved lives and helped the injured. There was no one’s character she couldn’t doubt except for Meng Jilin’s!

"Exactly, how could someone who cares so much for small animals creep you out?" Zhou Rui shook her head in disagreement, then said, "Miss Xing, shall I go in with you?"

"Stay here, I’ll be right out," Xing Ling glared at them.

It was as if they were treating her like a fragile piece of glass.

The villa was very quiet, tidy, and spotlessly clean.

Meng Jilin was a doctor, so he might have been a neat freak when it came to cleanliness.

"Niannian?" Xing Ling called the cat’s name. "Niannian?"

"Meow~" Niannian peeked out from a corner with a fluffy little head, round eyes warily watching the uninvited guest intruding into the house.

Xing Ling squatted down, "Niannian, do you remember me? I helped look for you when you got lost last time."

"Meow~"

Xing Ling gently stroked its head, following the direction of its fur.

Niannian comfortably closed her eyes and showed no desire to run away.

Xing Ling picked it up and stood up to find cat food, pouring some into its bowl.

Niannian immediately began to eat.

It was evident that it had been hungry all day!

"Poor thing," Xing Ling said softly, stroking the fur on its back.

After giving it water to drink and letting Niannian eat its fill, she finally left the villa.

She then called Meng Jilin to reassure him.

Meng Jilin was very grateful over the phone and said he’d treat her to a meal when he was free.

Xing Ling neither declined nor accepted the offer and didn’t take it to heart.

When Ye Sihan entered the room, a bathed Xing Ling was playing on the bed with the quadruplets.

"Daddy, have you finished your work?"

"Hurry up and take a bath, then sleep!"

"Sleep with us and mommy!"

"I’m a bit sleepy."

Ye Sihan said, "If you’re sleepy, go to sleep!"

Before the quadruplets could understand what that meant, they were each picked up by the maid entering the bedroom and carried out.

By the time they realized, they started to shout loudly—

"No! I want to sleep with mommy!"

"Daddy is a meanie!"

"Don’t steal our mommy!"

"We won’t be separated from mommy!"

Anyone who didn’t know better would think some tragic family separation had taken place.

Xing Ling didn’t say a word.

"Do you want to sleep with the kids?" Ye Sihan asked her, standing by the bedside.

Xing Ling said, "You decide." Don’t go back on your word later, not letting me go after agreeing to one month.

The shadow looming over her drew closer.

Her lips were touched lightly, the warm breath made her body shiver, and she watched him guardedly.

Ye Sihan did nothing else; after the kiss, he stood up and went to the bathroom.

Xing Ling flopped onto the bed, slightly dazed.

Did Ye Sihan know she had fed the cat during the day?

It was impossible for him not to, right?

Could she be unaware of how dedicated her two assistants were?

Would Ye Sihan ask her about it later?

Xing Ling felt sure he would, but until she fell asleep, Ye Sihan never brought up feeding the cat.

That made her doubt at times whether the assistants had indeed reported the incident.

The next day, Xing Ling specifically asked Chen Xindian, "Did you tell Ye Sihan about feeding the cat yesterday?"

Chen Xindian chuckled awkwardly, scratching his head, "I did, because Mr. Ye cares about Miss Xing."

Xing Ling was surprised; so they truly did report it.

And Ye Sihan really didn’t ask anything about it.

There was no way this would’ve happened in the past.

He was such a domineering and assertive man!

At noon, Xing Ling had just taken a break and was about to go eat.

She saw Meng Jilin approaching from a distance, his figure in the sunlight making her heart feel warm.

How could he possibly be creepy like Chen Xindian had said?

When Meng Jilin reached Xing Ling, he lifted the lunchbox in his hand, "I made this, want to try it?"
