Quadruplets’ Charm: The Tycoon’s Hidden Heirs -
Chapter 368: Dream Visitations
Chapter 368: Chapter 368: Dream Visitations
How could one so blatantly expose herself in front of Ye Sihan, who doesn’t touch women all year round?
Xing Ling didn’t know how long she had slept, but when she opened her eyes, her body felt relaxed and increasingly languorous.
Stretching, she turned over, and her hazy gaze slowly sharpened.
Why am I in a bed? Wasn’t I... in the car? Then I fell asleep, and what happened after? There is no memory of getting out of the car.
Like drinking until one blacks out.
Xing Ling saw that it was pitch-dark outside the floor-to-ceiling windows and when she checked the time, good heavens, had she slept until nine o’clock??
She stepped out of her room and ran into Warm Uncle, asking, "Where are the quadruplets?"
"They just returned to their room after finishing their homework; they should be taking a bath at this time." Warm Uncle then asked, "Dinner has been prepared and waiting, does Miss Xing want to eat now?"
"Yes, I’m hungry too." Xing Ling patted her stomach and followed Warm Uncle through the long corridor, then thought to ask, "Where is Ye Sihan?"
"Mr. Ye is in his study dealing with work!"
Xing Ling said no more.
Leaving the dining room, she rubbed her overfull stomach, feeling utterly content.
Her eyes narrowed, content like a little kitten.
For her, living in the Ye Mansion and having such delicacies every day would be no problem at all!
However, when lying in bed at night, Xing Ling’s thoughts drifted to the woman named ’Tang Yu’.
The mother of the quadruplets.
Xiao Yu had said Tang Yu disappeared.
Yi Die had said Tang Yu committed suicide by jumping into the sea.
It all felt like there was something hidden beneath the surface.
For no reason, a chill spread up her back.
It was a bit spine-chilling.
As she was lost in her thoughts, she heard a noise at the door, and instantly goosebumps sprang up on her arms.
The next second, four tender dumplings bounced into the bedroom with bright eyes, "Mommy!"
"Mommy!"
"Mommy!"
"Mommy!"
The four little ones climbed straight onto the bed, surrounding their mother, with Xibao being the most favored—she didn’t have to compete for her mother’s chest and could directly snuggle in.
Holding the soft and adorable Xibao, she asked, "You should be sleeping by now, shouldn’t you? Why are you still up?"
"Why isn’t Mommy sleeping with Daddy?" Junjun asked frankly.
Xing Ling, the grown-up, blushed embarrassingly, "Well, that..."
"I guessed that Mommy wasn’t sleeping with Daddy," Zhengzheng said.
"Why not?" Haohao asked.
Xibao also looked up, very curious.
Xing Ling’s eyes darted around, how should she explain it to them?
"Maybe not very familiar with each other..." She had intended to make an excuse, but ended up telling the plain truth.
Maybe it was because she was facing four children who understood nothing that she was so unguarded!
After she finished speaking, the quadruplets’ little faces looked puzzled, cute in their intense but confused contemplation.
"Anyway, that’s how it is, don’t think about it any longer, it’s late, you should go to sleep. Should I take you back to your rooms to sleep?" Xing Ling asked.
"We’ll sleep here!" the quadruplets declared, flopping onto the bed like adorable balls and burrowing under the covers, refusing to leave.
Xing Ling, having never slept with the children before, was unfamiliar with it, yet she accepted this way of interaction from the bottom of her heart.
With two children on each side, Xing Ling could only sleep in the middle.
Fortunately, the bed was big; otherwise, it wouldn’t be comfortable.
"Mommy, don’t leave us again, okay?" Zhengzheng asked.
Xing Ling looked left and right, seeing a sadness on the little ones’ faces.
Just thinking of their mother having committed suicide by jumping into the sea made her heart clench painfully, causing her to cover her chest with discomfort.
She thought she was being too empathetic.
"Mommy?" Xibao called her, grasping at mommy’s pajama collar with two small, pitiful hands.
"Okay, I promise," Xing Ling said, and the quadruplets all beamed with joy. Junjun even flipped onto mommy’s body and extended a short, chubby finger—
"Mommy’s word is her bond, not allowed to deceive for a hundred years!"
Xing Ling hesitated a bit because she was indeed one to deceive children.
Yet, faced with the children’s expressions, soft and cute as if they couldn’t withstand any blow, so fragile,
she extended her finger and hooked it with Junjun’s.
Zhengzheng, Haohao, and Xibao all wanted to hook fingers too.
They took turns, as if stamping a seal.
"Just like the contracts signed in daddy’s company, once stamped, we must do as we say!" Haohao said.
Xing Ling smiled and remained silent.
In her heart, she sighed, wondering what she would do if she ever had to leave the capital. Wouldn’t the quadruplets be heartbroken?
Clearly, Ye Sihan brought her here without the intention of revealing Tang Yu’s death to the children.
Is this really okay?
Can they be deceived for a lifetime?
She couldn’t possibly continue to pretend to be someone else’s mother forever...
Ye Sihan’s daily routine included checking on the children, but today he didn’t find a single one in their rooms.
His dark eyes flashed with a profound light, as he turned to push open Xing Ling’s door.
Upon entering the bedroom, he indeed saw the quadruplets sleeping on the bed, clinging to Xing Ling. Xibao’s face was even squished against Xing Ling’s full chest, both very soft.
The little mouth occasionally pouted as if a child instinctively seeking the nurturing milk in the middle of the night when hungry.
Ye Sihan’s gaze lingered on Xing Ling’s chest for a moment, then he turned and left, without moving the children back to their own rooms.
Xing Ling dreamt.
She dreamt of facing an endless, broad sea, the cold sea breeze blowing against her as though turning into arrows piercing her heart.
She couldn’t stop herself from walking forward; the seawater engulfed her legs, waist, chest, and the oppressive sensation made it hard for her to breathe.
Who is this? Me? Why am I going into the sea? Is it because... if I don’t, something terrible will catch up with me?
She felt she was an observer, yet the pain she experienced was so real,
including the feeling of being submerged bit by bit by the seawater until she drowned, as if she was actually living through it.
It was so uncomfortable...
"Mommy?"
"Mommy?"
"Mommy?"
"Mommy?"
Who was calling her?
Xing Ling abruptly opened her eyes to see Xibao lying on her chest and the three boys looking at her worriedly from both sides.
The fear still lingered on her face, yet realizing it was just a dream, she slowly calmed down.
"Did mommy have a nightmare?" Zhengzheng asked.
"Ah... yes, a dream... Xibao, come down, let me catch my breath," Xing Ling said.
After Xibao climbed down, there was a sense of relief in her chest.
She realized why there was a feeling of suffocation in the dream—it was because of how long had Xibao been lying on her. Could she have slept like that all night?
Xing Ling felt once again the difficulty of caring for children.
Sitting at the breakfast table, two adults and four children ate together, very warm, harmonious, and fulfilled.
That is, except for Xing Ling.
The dream of jumping into the sea last night was so real that just recalling it now made her heart flutter with unease.
After dropping all the children off at school, Xing Ling sneakily tugged on the hem of Ye Sihan’s suit, "Let’s talk in the car, where it’s brighter outside."
Ye Sihan stopped and looked at her with a mix of question and scrutiny in his gaze.
Leaning close to Ye Sihan’s ear, Xing Ling lowered her voice with a look of fear, "Last night... Tang Yu came to me in a dream."
Her sweet breath wafted onto Ye Sihan’s neck, sending a tingling sensation that quickly spread throughout his body, including a certain previously calm part.
