Chapter 356: You Didn’t Sleep Well Huh
Chapter 356: Chapter 356: You Didn’t Sleep Well Huh
Xing Ling was terrified by that cold voice, her body covered in goosebumps, her lips red and swollen, her face flushed, and her eyes brimming with tears, enduring the pain as her wrist was being gripped, much like a victim of harsh bullying.
"If it were someone else, they would already be dead by my hands!" Ye Sihan released her hand, stood up, and straightened his slightly ruffled collar.
He turned, picked up the mobile phone from the table, and switched off the illumination light.
The room suddenly plunged into darkness.
Enveloped in the darkness, Xing Ling heard Ye Sihan’s low and icy voice, "Then just keep acting, and don’t let me catch on to your poor performance."
Then there was the sound of the door closing.
Xing Ling hurriedly groped for the light switch beside the bed, and the room was brightly lit again.
Ye Sihan’s figure was gone.
Was it all just a nightmare she had?
Xing Ling reached for her cell phone and switched on the front-facing camera to inspect her mouth.
It was so swollen it hurt to touch.
Ye Sihan’s appearance was real, the forceful kiss was real — was he insane?
Rushing to her bed in the middle of the night to force a kiss on her?
Xing Ling had never encountered anything so outrageous in her life!
Ye Sihan had left via helicopter. It would take several hours to reach this place by car, but by helicopter, it would only take about ten minutes to get to Ye Mansion.
However, Ye Sihan stood motionless at the door, standing alone in deep contemplation, immersed in solitude.
In the quiet of the deep night, Ye Mansion was very still.
He lifted a hand to touch his lips, as if he could still taste the remnants of the kiss.
At that moment, he just wanted to force Xing Ling’s true colors to show, it’s only that the kiss had lasted a bit too long.
And in the end, he discovered nothing.
In the past, when the children talked about finding their mother, wanting to live with her just like before, he didn’t take it to heart.
If she was the children’s mother, living in Ye Mansion was nothing exceptional.
Perhaps he even loathed her to the extreme, planning to eventually send her away.
But what Xiao Yu told him turned out to be such an unbelievable matter.
It doesn’t matter; it’s just a piece of memory that won’t affect any of his decisions.
In his eyes, Xing Ling was just acting, with ulterior motives.
He would make her show her true face.
Ye Sihan didn’t go back to his room but stayed in the study to handle company affairs and dozed off in his chair for a while.
Yet, he had another dream.
This time, he dreamt he was pressing Xing Ling down on the bed, working hard on top of her.
Her cries were arousing, each one piercing through his heart.
Ye Sihan abruptly opened his eyes, his pupils sharp and emitting a cold light, but the color of desire within them flashed away.
A knock on the door brought him back to reality.
Ye Sihan closed his eyes wearily, his fingers pinching the bridge of his nose.
He had always been busy with his career, having no time to relieve tension.
It wasn’t that he lacked women around him but that he couldn’t arouse any interest, as if he were an aging man who had lost all function.
Yet, he hadn’t expected to have such an erotic dream because of the forceful kiss the night before.
No one would believe it if he told them.
He himself found it incomprehensible.
Was Xing Ling some kind of flame? Could she ignite his ’dead’ desires in an instant?
Wen Bo was waiting outside the door. When he saw Mr. Ye emerge from the study, he noted that Mr. Ye’s aura was extremely oppressive and his face darkened.
What happened?
Issues with the company?
That wasn’t right, Mr. Ye had always handled company matters with ease and had never lost his temper.
During Ye Sihan’s meal, Wen Bo stood by and asked, "Mr. Ye, did you use the helicopter last night? Where did you go?"
Ye Sihan’s chewing paused and after swallowing, he looked up at Wen Bo, "Since when have you started prying into my personal affairs?"
"I’m sorry, Mr. Ye..." Wen Bo flinched and lowered his head.
Although he didn’t know who had upset Mr. Ye, he knew it was wiser to steer clear.
"Go call the children." Ye Sihan’s voice was heavy.
"Yes." Wen Bo immediately went to do it.
The quadruplets were roused from their beds earlier than usual, with Junjun especially cranky upon waking.
When they sat at the dining table, she still had a scowl on her little face, exuding an air of eat-it-or-leave-it indifference.
Xibao seemed even less interested in food.
Ye Sihan watched his daughter, pondering, how did she gain weight if she didn’t like to eat?
"Eat up," Ye Sihan urged.
Zhengzheng and Haohao were the first to eat; Junjun’s moodiness gradually subsided, and she started drinking the milk in front of her.
Xibao continued to hum and haw, refusing to eat.
The maid tried to feed her, but Xibao turned her face away.
Ye Sihan took the milk from the maid’s hand and tried to feed her himself.
But Xibao looked at her father with big, woeful eyes and said in a whiny voice, "Daddy, I dreamed about Mommy last night."
Ye Sihan’s expression stiffened—he had dreamed about her mother too.
And the images were indescribable.
"But when I called for Mommy, she didn’t understand me, why is that?" Xibao asked, perplexed.
Her eyes brimmed with tears.
Ye Sihan didn’t like his daughter bringing up this topic and subconsciously tried to avoid it.
More than that, it was the first time he realized there were people or matters he couldn’t resolve.
Just thinking about Xing Ling made him irritable.
"Daddy, what are you thinking about?" Zhengzheng asked.
Ye Sihan shot him a glance, "Focus on eating; it’s getting cold."
"If it’s cold, we can heat it up," said Haohao.
"So annoying!" Junjun slammed her fork down on the table with a clack.
Ye Sihan’s face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot, "If you don’t want to eat, then don’t eat at all! Take them to school!" he ordered and stood up to leave.
The four children looked at each other in confusion.
Junjun asked Xibao, "Did you really dream about Mommy? Why didn’t I dream of her?"
"I didn’t either."
"I didn’t either."
"I don’t know, it’s just that I went into Daddy’s room last night and saw Mommy’s photo, and then I dreamed about her," Xibao said.
The expressions on the four children’s faces varied.
"I know why Daddy got angry; he misses Mommy too," said Zhengzheng.
"So does that mean we shouldn’t bring up Mommy anymore?" Xibao asked, on the verge of tears.
"If we don’t ask, we don’t ask," Junjun said with feigned indifference, yet deep down she felt a nagging worry for her father. Surely he wasn’t crying under the covers because he missed Mommy as she did, right?
"From now on, we’ll look for Mommy ourselves! We’ll find her eventually!" Haohao declared.
"Yeah!" Xibao’s eyes lit up with renewed hope.
"You better eat," Junjun told her.
"Oh," Xibao replied, and with a newfound appetite, she gobbled up her food.
Ye Sihan arrived at KING Group, sat down in his office chair, and instead of getting straight to work, he took out his phone and called Ye Mansion to ask if the quadruplets really hadn’t eaten breakfast.
Wen Bo said they had eaten before being sent to school.
After hanging up, Wen Bo chuckled, knowing that although Mr. Ye appeared stern with the children, he cared deeply for them.
He had scolded them in the morning, yet he was concerned they might go to school hungry.
Actually, Mr. Ye was quite distraught with worry.
Even though he said the children shouldn’t eat, would the servants really let them go to school with empty stomachs?
Just like every time Junjun had to face the wall and reflect on her mistakes, the moment Mr. Ye left, Wen Bo would immediately cut her some slack.
And once Mr. Ye returned, she’d promptly stand up straight again.
It was all a play-act of deception and concealment.
Xing Ling listlessly sat at the breakfast table; Zhou Yue couldn’t help but ask, "Sister Xing, did you not sleep well?"
Xing Ling barely lifted her eyelids, "Did you sleep well?"
"I slept quite well!" Zhou Yue replied, then for some reason, she saw Sister Xing’s mouth twitch and an almost resentful look in her eyes, which instinctively made her sit up straighter.
She hadn’t said anything wrong, had she?
