Chapter 321: Chapter 321: We Can Still Go Back to the Way Things Were
Meng Jilin came in with a gentle smile on his face, "Let me look at your wrist." He took Tang Yu’s wrist to examine the wound. "Hmm, it can even withstand water now."
"Can I be discharged from the hospital now?" Tang Yu asked after retrieving her wrist.
"You definitely need to be discharged. The New Year is only a few days away; you can’t spend it in the hospital. Besides, you’re not in any serious condition," Meng Jilin said.
Tang Yu’s expression paused, and she asked, "Has Ye Yuli still not woken up?"
"No, it’s taking longer than I expected," Meng Jilin frowned.
"Could there be some kind of complication?" Tang Yu rarely showed emotion.
"Don’t worry, the doctor checks on him every day; there is nothing wrong with his body."
"If there’s nothing wrong, why has he not woken up?"
"The trauma to his brain at the time takes longer to heal," Meng Jilin said, "Even for your sake, he will try hard to wake up. Do you want to go see him?"
Tang Yu glanced cautiously at the two bodyguards keeping watch outside the hospital room.
Could she really leave?
Although Ye Sihan was not there, the restrictions on her would only be more stringent.
"Let’s try," Meng Jilin approached the door of the hospital room and said to the bodyguards, "I’m taking her to see Ye Yuli; that should be okay, right? She’s not in a great mental state right now, and if you don’t let her visit, any mishaps would be your responsibility."
When Tang Yu and Meng Jilin exited the hospital room together, the bodyguards did not stop them, but immediately called Ye Sihan.
Ye Yuli’s hospital room was empty.
Tang Yu had also been worried about running into Zhou Qinghua or Lin Shuhuan.
"I’ve drawn them away; they won’t be back within ten minutes," Meng Jilin winked at her.
After bringing Tang Yu to the room, Meng Jilin stepped out and stood guard at the door.
Tang Yu walked to the bedside and, seeing Ye Yuli in an unresponsive coma, her eyes grew red.
He seemed to have grown thinner.
"Yuli, why haven’t you woken up yet? Please wake up..." Tang Yu’s voice choked up.
Ye Yuli, in a coma, naturally did not respond to her.
Tears fell uncontrollably as Tang Yu sat weakly on a chair beside her.
"Do you know? A lot has happened recently... I lost the child, and even though we found her, I dare not see them. I don’t know what I’m afraid of; maybe I’m not a good mother... Also, the nurse says I self-harm, but I don’t think so. I just feel so uncomfortable, and I just want to ease the pain... Yuli, if you could wake up, at least you could tell me what’s wrong with me..." Tang Yu’s voice was hoarse.
She sounded helpless and weak as if she might collapse at any moment.
"Yuli, it’s almost New Year, please wake up soon... Your aunt Lin will be so happy, you’re her only son, she’s very worried about you and hopes you can stay by her side."
Tang Yu stayed in Ye Yuli’s room for less than ten minutes before returning to her own hospital room.
Meng Jilin was stopped at the door.
He wore a white coat; he was a doctor here; there were no places he could not go.
At the moment the door closed, he saw that tall figure inside.
With the door shut, Tang Yu faced the man who had suddenly appeared in the hospital room by herself; her heart fluttered, and her hands in front of her twisted together tightly.
She avoided looking at Ye Sihan’s face even more so.
"Did you go to see Ye Yuli?"
Tang Yu kept her eyes downward, not speaking.
She felt an overwhelming sense of oppression drawing near.
The next second, her chin was lifted.
Though her face was raised, her gaze remained downward.
"Are you planning to ignore me now? Hmm?"
Tang Yu could not help but shake off his hand, stepped back, and refused to look at him, refusing even more to communicate with him.
"Do you think that like this, I have no means to deal with you?"
Tang Yu bit her lip, feeling the unease brought on by dangers all around.
Ye Sihan’s facial features tensed and then relaxed, seeing her as guarded and timid as a hedgehog, he compromised, his tone no longer as forbidding and cold, "I’ll take you home."
Tang Yu’s body tensed up suddenly, looking at him in panic.
"To your rental place."
Sitting in the Rolls-Royce, Tang Yu leaned against the car window, wearing a warm white down jacket, her hair washed clean by the nurse, her fair little face looking very gentle and quiet.
She didn’t look like someone who was just coming home from the hospital.
And her outfit was Ye Sihan’s request.
Although Tang Yu’s face was turned towards the outside, her body was on guard against the man inside the car.
As long as he didn’t get close, it would be fine.
The car drove smoothly forward, the route correct.
It was just that Tang Yu thought of the people who had surrounded her at her rental place before and wondered if the online storm had passed.
"All the topics about you online have been removed, and those behind the scenes have paid the price. No one will bother you again." Ye Sihan seemed to see through her thoughts, his deep voice unwavering as he stared at the micro-expressions on her face.
Tang Yu knew that once Ye Sihan took action, not only would the trending searches be suppressed, but they would also be cleaned up completely.
But she wasn’t pleased, because it no longer mattered.
"Have nothing to say?" Ye Sihan waited for Tang Yu for a long time and still didn’t see her respond, his complexion darkening, forcing him to ask again.
"No."
Ye Sihan’s dark eyes turned fierce, his face taut, the air pressure low.
The irritation in his heart almost couldn’t be suppressed, he adjusted his sitting position and tugged at his not-so-tight collar, his gaze flicking out the car window.
All the way until she got out of the car downstairs of the apartment complex, Tang Yu maintained her silence.
It was as if Ye Sihan’s car and the taxis she had taken before were no different—neither required communication.
"If you want, we can go back to how things were before." His deep voice fell.
Getting out of the car, Tang Yu, whose feet had just touched the ground, paused and looked at him, seemingly not understanding the meaning of his words.
There was always a vast chasm between her and Ye Sihan.
Just like at this moment, she stood outside the car, while Ye Sihan sat inside the Rolls-Royce, dark and proud, commanding a powerful presence that looked down upon everything.
The so-called ’past’ was just laughable.
"If you are willing to let me go, I would be grateful to you." Tang Yu’s voice was very calm.
Ye Sihan slightly sat up, leaning his upper body forward, the sense of oppression became intense, his pitch-black eyes like an abyss fixing on her, "How do you wish me to let you go? Leave Beijing? Could you bear to part with the child?"
Tang Yu stood there, never speaking a word.
There was no wind, yet she felt a piercing chill on her body, causing her to shiver involuntarily.
She only needed to say the words ’I can’ bear it’, but her lips trembled and she couldn’t speak.
Her face couldn’t help but show a look of blank despair.
It wasn’t until a dark shadow loomed over her that she snapped back to reality in shock.
Only then did she realize Ye Sihan had already gotten out of the car and was standing in front of her.
It was too late to step back, her waist tightened, pulling her close.
Her body was suddenly enveloped in warmth, Tang Yu leaned against Ye Sihan’s chest, feeling unreal, and even if it were a dream, it was no pleasant dream.
The shadow and fear at the bottom of her heart were still there, ready to be swayed by emotions, to lose control and collapse once that thin, transparent membrane on the surface was punctured.
"Don’t be afraid, the child will always be by your side, I won’t fight you for him." After Ye Sihan finished speaking, he picked up Tang Yu and headed for the elevator.
Tang Yu was held in Ye Sihan’s arms like a princess, the elevator ascending slowly.
