Chapter 224: 193 Tang Feng Returns Early (1 Update)_1

Dinner at Longmen Mansion not only included a roasted whole lamb service but also a small fireworks show.

The fireworks were a spontaneous idea from the old master, who had Long Aotian’s subordinates rush to the Fireworks Company to buy their available stock. Each year for the New Year festivities, they would order a variety of fireworks to set off on New Year’s Eve for Siyan to watch.

Siyan had loved fireworks since she was little. Going out to see them wasn’t enjoyable because it was crowded and uncomfortable, so the old master would dig into his coffers a tiny bit to buy fireworks for his precious granddaughter, as there was no shortage of hands at home to set them off for the young miss.

Siyan was truly very fond of fireworks, the kind she could watch every year without ever growing tired of them.

However, before the fireworks show was over, Tang Su received a call from her older brother. At that moment, he was already at the door of Tingzhu Building, planning to go up and surprise his sister, but the diligent security guard wouldn’t let him in.

He insisted on having him call the homeowner right in front of them.

As a result, the surprise he had intended could only be delivered over the phone.

"What? Where did you say you are?" Tang Su was also surprised. She had clearly heard Tang Feng state his current location, but found it hard to believe.

Not to mention the flight he booked was for tomorrow, even if the journey went smoothly, he would only arrive home tomorrow evening.

So how could he suddenly show up today?

"I’m at the entrance of your building. Your complex’s security won’t let me in, so, please come down and pick me up. Hurry up, I’m dead tired and desperately need a bed to sleep in."

"I’m not home, though."

"Huh? You’re not home? Then where are you? It’s already late, the sky’s dark, and it’s not appropriate for a girl to be outside at this hour," Tang Feng’s mindset was quite traditional.

Although he had taught Tang Su some self-defense, it was only enough to deal with petty thieves. If she were to encounter those with courage and premeditation, Tang Su’s limited martial arts capabilities would amount to nothing.

So, to avoid unwanted attention from bad people, it was better for her to return home early. Besides, it was dark outside; there was nothing fun to do.

"It’s just past eight, even our mother isn’t as strict as you; she allows me until before ten," Tang Su unconsciously retorted.

"Fine, fine, fine, come back soon. I’ll wait for you at the entrance. My phone’s about to die."

"Oh."

No sooner had Tang Su responded than Tang Feng’s phone went completely dead.

With the call abruptly cut off, Tang Su clutched her phone and looked towards Lu Han. Lu Han had heard some of it and could guess the rest even without hearing it.

He was already bidding farewell to the old master and Long Aotian and his siblings.

The Long family members knew they both had something urgent to attend to, so they didn’t hold them back.

Long Aotian and his siblings escorted them to the door.

Siyan leaned against the passenger window, "Sister Tang, next time I come to your coffee shop, will you give me a discount on the coffee?"

"Hmm, of course, others get 20% off, but for you, I’ll make it 50% off."

"Thank you, Sister Tang, see you next time."

"Sure, take care." Tang Su still remembered the secret she had shared with her.

"Yeah, I will."

Siyan nodded, glancing with a slightly blushing face at Long Yi standing next to her brother.

As soon as Tang Su and Lu Han left, Siyan suddenly lost interest in watching the fireworks. Having just mentioned coffee, she felt a craving for it and knew Tang Su’s coffee shop was on Culture Street. She wanted to visit right away.

She didn’t need Tang Su’s 50% discount; she was willing to pay the full price.

"What’s wrong?" Long Aotian looked at Siyan, who was reluctant to go inside, and asked softly with a furrowed brow.

"Brother, I want to drink coffee," Siyan articulated, pausing between each word.

"We have coffee beans at home. Have the servants grind some for you," Lu Han never refuses his sister’s requests.

"No, I want to go to Sister Tang’s coffee shop for coffee," Long Siyan insisted, a rare caprice.

"If you want to go, it can wait for another day, not today. It’s already past eight o’clock. By the time you go and come back and then drink a coffee, do you even want to sleep tonight?" Lu Han tried to reason with her.

He knew she wanted to support Tang Su’s business, but now wasn’t the time.

Long Siyan’s eyes rolled playfully. Drinking coffee was just an excuse; she just wanted Lu Yi to take her out alone. That way, she would have the chance to tell Lu Yi how much she liked him.

"I just want to drink coffee from Sister Tang’s shop right now," Long Siyan pulled out her trump card. When she couldn’t find a proper reason to convince her brother, she usually resorted to coquettish tactics.

This method, tried a hundred times, worked a hundred times.

"Lu Yi, go and buy some for the young miss," Lu Han, resigned, asked Lu Yi to take care of it.

"Yes," Lu Yi complied and was about to leave.

"Wait, Lu Yi, I’ll go with you," Long Siyan said to Lu Yi.

Lu Yi paused in his steps, not looking at Long Siyan but at Lu Han.

"It’s late, and it’s cold outside. Lu Yi is good at fighting but not at taking care of you. Last time you went out with him, you came back with a cold, and he didn’t even realize it. Have you forgotten?"

Lu Han disapproved. Had his sister forgotten the pain once her wound had healed?

Last time she had a cold and fever; she suffered so much she cried, saying she would never go out with Lu Yi again. Now it was as if it all meant nothing.

He was also done with Lu Yi, unable to fathom how his emotional quotient could be so low.

Alive and breathing with blood and flesh, yet in action, he was as rigid and robotic as could be, the only difference being that robots need to be charged while Lu Yi does not.

Long Siyan certainly remembered. It was her first time at a concert. There were so many people, and she didn’t feel cold during the concert. It was only when it ended and she stepped outside that she felt chilled to the bone.

She mentioned it several times to Lu Yi, who bought her milk tea, hand warmers, gloves, and a scarf, but it never occurred to him to take off his coat for her.

After she drank the milk tea and used all the items Lu Yi had bought, she still complained about the cold, and in the end, Lu Yi went to buy her a down jacket.

That time, Long Siyan was genuinely miffed. He was like a clueless gourd—she didn’t have such strong feelings for Lu Yi then and thought any girl who would like him must be blind.

But little did she know, in the end, the joke was on her.

However, there was nothing she could do; when you like someone, you like them, and emotions were beyond her control.

Tang Su was right. Regarding Lu Yi, she needed to take the first step. Otherwise, with Lu Yi so oblivious, she feared she’d be waiting forever, turning into an old maid before he ever realized she liked him.

How strange. What exactly did she like about such a repressed man?

The answer was unsolvable.

"I remember, I dressed warmly today. I won’t let that happen again," Long Siyan said.

In their earnest dialog, each trying to persuade the other, neither noticed Lu Yi’s earlobes turning red. After all, he too remembered his embarrassing moments.

"Then I’ll have Long Wu accompany you," Lu Han suggested.

Long Wu was a woman who would take more detailed care of Long Siyan, and she could fight. She was capable of handling the usual accidents and dangers.

"No, I want Lu Yi," Long Siyan insisted again.

Lu Han: "..."
