Chapter 939: Just right for the two of us to eat together 2 Chapter 939: Just right for the two of us to eat together 2 Arnold Johnson ate as if no one else was around, but in reality, he couldn’t taste anything in his mouth.
The only sound in his ears was the voice of Edward Hernandez, soft enough to melt anyone to death.
“Victoria, I bought you the soy milk and fried dough sticks you wanted to try. See if it’s to your liking,” Edward said as he handed her the fried dough sticks, adding a caution, “Be careful, it’s hot.”
Hot? It was merely lukewarm.
Arnold couldn’t help but bite down hard on a fried dough stick.
Victoria took a gentle bite, looked up, and caught Arnold’s fierce gaze. Suddenly, she felt nauseated again, wishing she could vomit immediately.
“Madam Johnson, what’s wrong?” Arnold, noticing her odd expression, couldn’t help but ask.
She felt fine until he spoke, but then, Victoria turned around to vomit, quickly sitting back down to avoid suspicion.
“Seeing certain people, I just lose my appetite,” Victoria said, abruptly setting the fried dough stick aside.
She was terrified that a few more bites would give her away. Arnold was so clever, he might guess the truth.
Hearing Victoria speak about him this way, Arnold felt a rush of air trapped in his chest. When had he become so disgusting to her? Was it that hard for her to take a bite of anything now?
“Madam Johnson, you’ve lost weight recently. You should eat for the sake of your health. If these aren’t appetizing, I’ll cook something you like myself, alright?”
Arnold continued, oblivious to others: “Noodles, wontons, steak, or braised pork rice, or would you prefer vegetarian?”
All these foods were part of the beautiful memories they shared.
“No need, I’m not hungry right now and don’t want to eat,” Victoria coldly refused.
Arnold, looking at her indifferent eyes, for the first time impulsively said, “Your silent treatment is hurting your body. How long are you planning to keep this up? You’re not just hurting yourself, but also my heart.”
“If I can hurt your heart, that actually makes me quite happy. Tell me, what should I do to make you give up once and for all?” Victoria retorted along his line of thought.
Nothing could provoke Arnold more than this.
“No matter what you do, you won’t make me give up. Even if my heart is full of scars because of you, it will not die, because I will not let go of you.”
“Suit yourself. I don’t want to see you right now. Can you please leave?” Victoria coldly issued an order for him to leave.
After speaking, Victoria silently closed her eyes, refusing to look at Arnold again.
Ever since the day of their wedding, when she said the words “I do not,” Victoria had always been coldly indifferent to him.
Arnold knew she still couldn’t let go of certain things. He could give her time, and he could wait.
But seeing her attitude and hearing her words truly hurt him.
After silently watching Victoria for a long time and seeing no intention from her to engage with him, Arnold finally left the room.
It was only after Arnold had gone that Victoria slowly opened her eyes, yet why did they feel wet?
Her hand involuntarily caressed her stomach where the child she and Arnold conceived rested. What a pity…
Victoria remembered what Arnold had said: he wanted four children, at least two, and if only two, then both should be daughters, looking just like her…
Thinking this, Victoria’s heart chilled again. Indeed, just like that woman, Julia!
