Chapter 936 - 936 It might be a stillbirth
Chapter 936: It might be a stillbirth. Chapter 936: It might be a stillbirth. The doctor spoke softly, “Well, the fetal heart rate is very faint. You should ask the doctor for more details later.”
The doctor responsible for the examination and the one reading the report were not the same person.
Victoria Garcia, holding the B-ultrasound report with her hands trembling, realized how deeply she cared for this child. At that moment, all she wished for was that the child could be safe and healthy.
As long as he was alright, she would do her utmost to give birth to him.
When she arrived at the doctor’s office and showed the B-ultrasound report to the doctor, the doctor’s brows furrowed deeply.
Victoria Garcia’s heart tightened further.
“Doctor, what’s the matter?”
Doctor Adams was a middle-aged obstetrician renowned as the Obstetrics Saint of Women and a renowned specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. She was among the top in her field and, despite the exorbitant fees charged by the private hospital, there was still a line of people waiting to have their children delivered by her.
After looking over the report, Doctor Adams spoke gravely, “Miss Garcia, the situation doesn’t look optimistic. Based on the report, there’s over a ninety percent chance that the child is a stillbirth.”
“Why… Why is this happening?” Victoria’s voice started to tremble, and her hands clasped tightly together.
Doctor Adams explained, “This could be due to issues during the combination of the sperm and the egg, or it might be caused by chromosomal abnormalities between the two of you.”
Victoria only half-understood these explanations.
“So, is there a ten percent chance that it’s not a stillbirth? That means there’s still hope for this child, right?” Victoria clutched at this possibility earnestly.
Understanding the reaction of someone about to become a mother, Doctor Adams said, “Miss Garcia, sometimes certain things are not made entirely clear. How about this – wait another week then come back for a reexamination. If the fetus is still the same, then I suggest you should not hesitate anymore. Continuing to carry the child in your body could affect your own health.”
“No… please no…” Victoria whispered, realizing just how much she cared, just how much she didn’t want to lose this child.
The thought of personally ending her child’s life was excruciating for her.
“Miss Garcia, don’t be too upset. This situation isn’t your fault. It just means that it wasn’t meant to be.” At the same time, Doctor Adams added, “If you’re ready to try for a child again next time, you and your husband should consider chromosomal testing in advance.”
Victoria listened quietly, yet it was as if she couldn’t comprehend a single word.
In the end, Victoria didn’t even know how she made it out of the doctor’s office.
Seeing Victoria looking disconsolate, Edward Hernandez approached her softly, concernedly asking, “Victoria, what’s wrong?”
Without even glancing at him, Victoria just continued to move forward slowly, not wanting to say anything.
Paul followed behind her, worried that she might collapse.
They walked in silence for a considerable distance.
Once in the car, Victoria suddenly broke down uncontrollably, her emotions peaking.
Seeing her cry was, in a strange way, a relief for Edward Hernandez.
Crying was a good sign; not crying would’ve been truly terrifying.
He sat by quietly, not starting the car until her crying subsided. Only then did he tenderly offer her a tissue and gently wiped the tears from her face.
But Victoria turned her face away…
