Chapter 618 - 618 Grand Lady Johnsons Worries 4

Chapter 618: Grand Lady Johnson’s Worries 4 Chapter 618: Grand Lady Johnson’s Worries 4 Grand Lady Johnson’s thoughts went back again, and those distant old events, which she had not mentioned or thought about for a long time.

“The Old Master really spoiled that child, naming him Arnold Johnson and holding a lavish Full Moon Wine Celebration. Everyone knew that he was the child of the Old Master and me, but they didn’t know that my own child had already died and Arnold had taken my son’s place and everything that was supposed to be his.”

“Can you blame me for hating him?”

Alfred chimed in, “Of course not. I hate him too.”

“Yes, that’s why it’s impossible for me to be nice to Arnold. The Old Master always tried to persuade me, and I always pretended to be fine. But only I know how much I loathed him, even if he just walked past me.”

“And yet, Christopher treated him like his real brother, caring for him as if he was his own flesh and blood. But in the end, my only living son died because of him.” At this point, Grand Lady Johnson’s old tears flowed once again. That was her most beloved and cherished eldest son. “I didn’t feel the slightest bit of sorrow when Arnold died. His death actually relieved the bitterness I had suppressed in my heart for so many years.”

Yes, he was dead. She could now treat Arnold coldly and make things difficult for him without worrying about anybody’s feelings. What a refreshing and satisfying thing this was.

“Do you know how badly I wanted him dead?” Grand Lady Johnson’s eyes flashed with ruthlessness. “After the Old Master died, it would have been easy to kill a child not even ten years old. And yet, Christopher protected him as if he was his own son. Why did my son have to protect that bastard?”

Grand Lady Johnson could not let go of this to this day.

“Young Master was entrusted with the task by the Old Master.” Alfred’s guess was actually correct.

Grand Master Johnson probably knew that it would be difficult for Grand Lady Johnson to accept Arnold, and he understood how difficult it had been for her to pretend all these years.

“It’s absurd that my own son wouldn’t listen to me, yet he protected Arnold, a child who could potentially fight him for the family fortune. He was so afraid that I would secretly poison him.” Grand Lady Johnson didn’t understand – could the bond between the brothers outweigh the bond between her and Christopher, mother and son?

Thus, her hatred for Arnold deepened further.

“Then, I had another attempt on his life.” At this point, Grand Lady Johnson laughed, a laugh filled with sorrow and misery. “This time, it was Chloe who saved his life.”

She laughed loudly for a long time before stopping and looking at Alfred. “Do you know who Chloe is? She’s my daughter. Ha-ha…ha-ha…”

Why?

What kind of fate did Arnold have? Why was it always her children who ended up sacrificing themselves?

“Ma’am, I know, I know everything. You’ve suffered, and I feel that heaven is most unfair. Grandpa died from injuries sustained protecting Arnold, and even Young Master also died because of him. Now, even Miss Chloe is worse than death because of him.” Alfred felt that Arnold was the greatest obstacle in Grand Lady Johnson’s life, one she could not overcome no matter what.

However, for Miss Chloe’s sake, Grand Lady Johnson endured once again.

If Arnold had indeed married Miss Chloe, perhaps Grand Lady Johnson would feel somewhat comforted. But who could have imagined that Arnold would be so unwilling?

Arnold’s actions naturally infuriated Grand Lady Johnson. If it wasn’t for Chloe’s repeated persuasion, Grand Lady Johnson would likely have grown even more crazed.
