Chapter 610: Fasting Chapter 610: Fasting “The cream inside is cold, and the outer layer is crisp and flaky. When you bite into it, it’s sweet and crumbly.” Victoria Garcia closed her eyes as she described it to him.

Seeing her adorable expression, Arnold Johnson took out a small cream puff and swallowed it in one bite. After chewing for a bit, he found that it did indeed taste exactly as she had described.

“Mmm, it’s delicious. I’ll research how to make it later and make some for you next time.” Arnold said.

Victoria enthusiastically agreed, “Yeah, we can learn how to make it together later.”

It should be a simple and happy thing to do.

There were some things Arnold felt he needed to say, “Yesterday’s situation was a bit complicated, I didn’t expect Chloe to behave like that. But when it comes to emotions, I won’t force myself.”

“So, no matter what, you have to trust me!” Arnold took her hand and spoke softly but seriously, “Once I’ve chosen you, I won’t give up.”

“I trust you!” Victoria continued, “But what about Chloe?”

“I’ll handle everything.” He didn’t want Victoria to get too involved; more people would only make it harder to handle.

“Did you ever hesitate?” Victoria couldn’t help but ask about a nagging doubt that had been on her mind.

A woman who deeply loved him and had done many touching things for him would surely soften a man’s heart at least a little.

“Hesitate about what? Hesitate about whether or not to be with her, marry her?” Arnold asked in response.

Victoria didn’t answer, her silence being a tacit admission.

Having such a doubt was normal.

Arnold explained, “What if I say that I didn’t hesitate even a little bit?”

“Would you think I’m cold-hearted and ruthless?”

Victoria thought for a moment before saying, “In my heart, you’ve never been that kind of person.”

“Although I never considered being with her or marrying her, somewhere deep inside, I did feel sorry for her at that time.” Images of Chloe’s pale, infatuated, and desperate expression surfaced in Arnold’s mind.

Over the years, he had let her down too many times.

“I won’t be jealous,” Victoria said. But her heart couldn’t help but feel a sudden twinge of acid at the sentiment.

Seeing her like this, Arnold grasped her other hand and said, “This kind of sympathy has nothing to do with love. In my heart, Chloe is different from other women. We grew up together, she saved my life, and my feelings for her are like those for a sister. So, when she hurts herself, it pains me to see her being foolish and overly persistent.”

Does it really have nothing to do with love?

No matter what method a woman uses to get into a man’s heart, it would make him feel that she is special. Arnold thought as much, too.

“Has she woken up yet?” Victoria felt as if she was asking too much. If Chloe hadn’t woken up, Arnold probably wouldn’t be standing before her.

Suddenly, she felt a tinge of jealousy towards Chloe for having so many of Arnold’s younger years.
