Chapter 89: Chapter 74 Death Knight: I Came to Lundan for Only Three Things_3

If you don’t accept this, go find the Goddess of Death and say that the Death Knight himself has said so.

"Let’s go, serve the Goddess well, and when you die, you won’t lack for your rewards." Wayne waved his hand, and the Evil Spirit Dog roared through the fog, creating a long passage directly to the Grand Cemetery for the followers to leave.

Though the followers were perplexed, they still believed in Wayne; the Death Knight was the Goddess’s exclusive knight, and it’s impossible that he would deceive them.

Let’s get back to preparations, first pulling a sponsorship from the Liberty Mage Alliance, then opening five detective agencies and law firms to provide legal aid for the citizens.

The followers staggered away, never dreaming that their faith could evolve to this extent.

One of the followers halfway returned, bowing, "Respected Knight Lord, I received intelligence a few days ago that the High Priest of the Naturalism Church is making moves to capture you; the information comes from the high levels of the Naturalism Church, very reliable."

The follower’s voice was loud, causing Hefei to twitch his eyelids. Which idiot leaked such a message? Doesn’t such a clumsy attempt at using someone else’s hand to strike seem shameful?

It’s not Sidney, nor could it be Simon; it could only be those two fools.

Oh Goddess above, how embarrassing!

"I understand, leave as quickly as possible, and remember to stay off the roads at night." Wayne waved his hand, after all the followers had left, he pressed his hand on the hilt of his sword: "Guests, do you have anything else to say? If not, I have a message..."

"I, the Death Knight, have never liked fighting and hate the violent struggles!

"But to fulfill the Goddess’s Divine Decree, I don’t mind staining my hands with blood. This city is too filthy. You’re self-righteous, you don’t want to associate with corruption, but please do not disturb the Goddess’s followers seeking justice for the citizens, bringing fairness to all."

"..."

Is that fairness? You are clearly enticing followers!

In the hearts of all, there was disbelief. Children talk about right and wrong, adults know that order is more important. The Death Knight’s forceful demand for justice will only disturb the already muddy waters of Lundan, eventually, the citizens will pay the price.

However...

What does that have to do with us?

The team from the Liberty Mage Alliance was the first to leave, nonbelievers do not engage in strife unprovoked. The team from the Heavenly Father’s Court followed shortly after, as death is not the enemy of the Heavenly Father, and the Death Knight is not a follower of the Evil God.

Members of the Dark Church stood their ground, watching. Death was an ally of darkness, and they might not join the battle directly, but they had to show support for their allies steadfastly.

The pressure was on the Tri-Goddess Alliance.

Coach Leader Dick and the slim female mage focused their attention on the Dark Church. The Death Knight was too powerful, and the Dark Knight might be lurking in the shadows; they could not afford to make a sacrifice with no meaning.

Hefei hesitated; she had been the leader of the Paris Scalpel Organization and had faced the Death Knight more than once. Her intuition told her that the Death Knight before her was a fake with a ninety percent probability, looking formidable but in reality easily defeated.

Considering there was still a ten percent chance, she was unwilling to take a risk. A High Priest had fallen recently, they could not afford another loss.

Just wait a little longer, reinforcements from the headquarters were on their way.

The team from the Tri-Goddess Alliance orderly retreated, members of the Dark Church bowed to Wayne, and then vanished into the night.

It was clear everyone was very restrained.

Wayne was also very restrained.

"So mature..."

Wayne muttered to himself, turned his horse around, and prepared to leave.

Suddenly, he sensed a ripple, making Ah Bin and Ah Bo blend into the fog and headed alone towards the forest on the other side on his horse.

The forest was shrouded in the pitch darkness of night, the hazy moonlight unable to penetrate, and the ubiquitous fog also halted its steps here.

The entire forest was like an abyss of nothingness, devouring everything that passed.

At the source of the darkness stood a towering figure, clad in black armor, a cloak covering the whole body, the face masked by black iron, tightly sealed all around, not even the eyes were visible.

The Dark Knight.

Wayne’s long-static Supernatural Sensing issued a warning, the other party was very dangerous.

"Death Knight, Lundan is not your territory, you have crossed the boundary," the Dark Knight said.

"Who are you?"

Wayne tried to discern the other’s voice but failed, it was deep, thick, and slightly hoarse, as if afflicted by throat cancer.

"You may have not seen me before; I am the knight chosen by the darkness, the Dark Knight appointed by the Goddess."

"..."

What the heck, someone is claiming to be the Dark Knight in front of me, Wayne?

Wayne was a bit baffled; just a few days ago, he had been pondering a name change, and now it seemed this ’vest’ already had an owner.

It was quite disheartening; he wanted to negotiate with the other party to see if they could switch homes, exchange their Goddesses, and from then on, he could be the Dark Knight, and the other could reclass to Death Knight.

Wayne, understanding the situation, did not ask out loud, as it likely was impossible.

The Dark Knight coldly observed Wayne, whose behavior didn’t resemble that of a well-known senior, but rather that of a newcomer just stepping out into the world.

Moreover, with a Death Knight already in Paris, there was a ninety percent chance that the Death Knight in front of him was a fake, but the thick aura of death couldn’t be faked, suggesting that the two Death Knights were not the same.

Had the Goddess of Death expanded her knight count, preparing to form a squad?

The Dark Knight didn’t understand, only knowing he had attained his knight identity by meeting exceedingly stringent conditions; it seemed unlikely for a Goddess to have two knights wandering the mortal realm.

Neither of the two knights spoke, simply watching each other in silence.

Maybe it was a kind of tacit understanding or the atmosphere was right, but Wayne reached for his sword hilt, and the Dark Knight likewise prepared for battle.

The shadows of the trees danced; a beam of light shone down, cleaving the gazes of the two knights watching each other like a sword.

Wayne turned his head to look at a large tree, his heart suddenly tightening.

That familiar feeling!

Teacher, what are you doing here? That’s the Dark Knight across from you, plus his ally, the Death Knight—hurry back and work overtime!

Hey, could it be that you, Teacher, are strong enough to solo kill two knights?

Simultaneously, the Dark Knight also looked over.

"High Priest..."

As the Dark Knight murmured, the hidden intelligence in the forest swiftly retreated, while the two knights remained unmoved on the spot.

After a while.

"Leave it to me to handle," said both knights.
