My Princess Holds Superpowers
Chapter 484 oppression

Chapter 484: 484 oppression

Ye Jiu clenched her palm, feeling somewhat displeased.

She had taken advantage of today’s opportunity to have Prince Jing present the soap to the Empress as a birthday gift, originally intending to use the chance to reclaim what rightfully belonged to her family.

But now, Prince Jing was actually forbidding her from mentioning the matter, which meant that he was clearly biased towards the Liu Family on this issue and didn’t want her to bring it up again. It was ludicrous to expect Ye Jiu to be happy about that.

Along the way, with great difficulty, she managed to suppress her anger and tried to maintain composure when she met with the Empress.

The first time the Empress saw Ye Jiu, she was confused.

This tiny boy in front of her did not seem at all like a girl, and furthermore, he bore no resemblance to Prince Jing, which made the Empress doubt whether she had declared the wrong person.

Prince Jing hastily and pleasingly explained at her side, "Mother, this girl is hard to handle, so I had her disguised to bring her in."

Ye Jiu didn’t anticipate that Prince Jing would sell her out so easily.

Perhaps she had watched too many palace drama series, so from the moment Ye Jiu entered the Imperial Palace, she was always on edge, afraid she’d inadvertently become cannon fodder.

Upon hearing it was a disguise, the Empress once again condemned Prince Jing for being unreliable in her heart.

As a prince, to trust others so lightly was one thing, but to bring a stranger into the Imperial Palace, and to have that person in disguise no less! If those with ulterior motives discovered it, wouldn’t it just add another big mark against him?

The Empress composed herself and looked at Ye Jiu, asking, "I heard that the soap recipe was snatched from your hands by the Liu Family?"

The first encounter was not as pleasant as Ye Jiu had imagined.

The oppressive look in the eyes of the Empress was something Ye Jiu spotted right away.

Her gaze shifted to Prince Jing, who shook his head at her, clearly signaling her to deny the claim.

Feeling indignant, she answered a bit slowly, but when she lifted her head again, Ye Jiu’s smile was radiant, "No, Your Majesty, it is not."

"Oh, then tell me, to whom does this soap recipe truly belong?" the Empress asked again.

"It naturally belongs to the Liu Family," Ye Jiu said.

The Empress finally withdrew her imposing aura with satisfaction and continued, "I am aware that the Liu Family was in the wrong regarding the soap matter, and I will compensate you, but no more issues can arise from it. Since you are acquainted with Prince Jing and I believe he has taken good care of you, you wouldn’t want him implicated because of this, would you?"

"Your Majesty," Ye Jiu replied, "I understand; the soap recipe is the property of the Liu Family." As Ye Jiu spoke these words, her heart bled.

She had once only wanted to make money to live a good life, but now she realized that without sufficient power and status, no matter how much she had to offer, she might not be able to keep it all.

Just a soap recipe had caused so much trouble. Ye Jiu understood that if not for Prince Jing’s intervention, she would have been facing much more than just pressure from the Empress - she might have been silently disposed of.

Such understanding from Ye Jiu made the Empress feel a bit guilty for pushing too hard.

Moreover, seeing that Prince Jing was not pleased because the Empress had called Ye Jiu in not out of interest, but purely to chastise her, the Empress could not disregard Prince Jing’s feelings.

Ye Jiu was awarded many things, none of which she refused, because she understood her current situation. These gifts, seemingly given as rewards, were actually compensation for the soap recipe, and she did not even have the privilege to decline.

Seeing that Ye Jiu accepted the rewards, the Empress’s worries were significantly alleviated.
