Chapter 471: Princely Heir of the legendary King Jing

Watching Ye Jiu’s lonely figure, Liu Yunqing fell into deep thought.

Had he really offended this young lady without realizing it, or had the Liu Family done something he didn’t know about?

While he was pondering, the girl had already walked away, stopping in front of two boys and saying something, but she was too far away for Liu Yunqing to clearly hear or recognize one of the boys, who seemed somewhat familiar.

Shaking his head, Liu Yunqing didn’t dwell on the thoughts any longer and instead turned to speak with the young boy beside him, "Cousin, why did you leave the Royal Residence without anyone with you? Do your father and aunt know?"

The boy had reattached his jade pendant to his waist. Thinking it over, he felt this was not secure enough and so took it down again and stuffed it into a hidden pocket inside his garment.

The jade pendant was very important to him, and he absolutely could not lose it.

It seemed, next time he should just leave it at home; carrying it on his person was too unsafe.

"Cousin?" Liu Yunqing saw that his cousin was not paying attention to him, so he called out once more.

"Ah? Fourth elder cousin, did you need something?" the boy looked up in confusion.

Liu Yunqing felt helpless, "Nothing much. I’ll take you back to the Royal Residence, so your father and aunt don’t worry about finding you."

"No, no, no..." The boy immediately shook his head and waved his hand, "I’m not going back to the Royal Residence, you go on with your business, elder cousin. Don’t mind me; I’ll just walk around and return by myself later."

Liu Yunqing furrowed his brows.

Although his cousin could be somewhat slow-witted, he held a high status as the Princely Heir to the Jing Prince, the biggest pillar of the Liu Family, and thus the entire Family naturally looked up to the Jing Royal Residence.

Liu Yunqing couldn’t possibly leave an eleven-year-old boy, especially one with a slow mind, alone outside.

"Cousin, what do you want to do? How about I accompany you?" Without a doubt, this cousin of his was someone he couldn’t afford to offend, and leaving him alone outside was also worrisome, so Liu Yunqing thought of a compromise.

"Okay," said the boy, looking up with a silly smile.

At the back door of a pastry shop, the boy fell off the wall, got up, dusted his already bruised behind, and looked contemptuously back inside the wall, "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. You just want to coax me back to the Royal Residence, but having finally escaped that cage, this Princely Heir is not going back."

While he spoke, the boy walked away.

Meanwhile, Liu Yunqing was still waiting up ahead, patiently downing cup after cup of tea, until he finally lost his patience.

He stood up and headed towards the back toilets.

However, it was already empty.

Liu Yunqing stopped a passing waiter, "Young man, where is the boy who went to the toilets in the back courtyard just now?"

"That young master had already left a while ago, but as for now, I haven’t noticed; should I go look for you?" the waiter replied.

"No need," Liu Yunqing had already realized by then that he’d probably been fooled by his naive cousin.

"Alright then, I will take my leave," the waiter said and walked off, then turned back after a few steps, adding, "I seem to recall that the young master was asking where he could find a ladder!"

Upon hearing this, Liu Yunqing suddenly became serious.

A ladder?

He remembered the incident from two years ago when his cousin fell from a tree and broke his arm!

Instantly feeling uneasy, Liu Yunqing quickly started searching along the walls of the back courtyard.

Finally, in a corner, he found the ladder and with a light tap of his toes, gracefully landed safely outside the wall.

In contrast to the clumsy way the boy had clambered over the wall, he appeared to be long-limbed and elegant.
