Hence, the over forty individuals who had already passed the Black Iron Trial were now dispersing in the sewers of the outer city district, hunting on their own.

The players were tasked with buying time for the Cadman People’s Army to establish a solid defense line. Maxim was busy handling this. Though tonight’s ghoul tide arrived abruptly, for the survivors of Crimson Castle who had been constantly dealing with various calamities since the disaster struck, this was not a catastrophe worthy of fear.

The repeated trials have made the survivors under Lord Morphy’s lead mentally strong.

While Miss Milian was rallying the militia at the forward base, and the Blood Alliance Knights entered the sewers to get to work, the president, Natalie, did not look very pleased on the road to Morlan village.

Ambo, who was riding beside her at full speed, seemed to sense her captain’s mood. She said softly:

"The people who just settled down in Morlan village might not be willing to help. Although they nominally thank Lord Morphy for accepting us, the homeless, the grudges between the witch hunters and vampires aren’t that easily quelled."

"But this is an opportunity."

Natalie, holding the reins of her battle mount, Maple, sighed and said:

"No matter the reason, we have to take this step. Morphy has granted us enough freedom. If we stand by and do nothing in these circumstances where our presence is needed in the territory, it won’t just be him...

Other people on this land will despise us and loathe us even more."

"Everyone knows this, captain."

Ambo pushed up her eyepatch and replied with a smirk:

"But, if those who knew the truth always acted accordingly, there would be no wars in the world. For many of us, just living in the vampire’s territory is suffocating enough.

To now obey the commands of a vampire is simply unimaginable.

Of course, I don’t mind.

I’ll follow your orders."

"You can’t be indifferent, Ambo. You’re my most trusted hunter commander. I still count on your help to rebuild the legacy of the witch-hunters."

Natalie joked with a smirk. Then, sitting straight in the saddle under the speeding night, she looked at the silhouette of Morlan village under the distant night.

The light from the Star Realm’s purple glow in the night sky covered the land, giving the clear moonlight a strangely hazy feeling. The nights in the Count of Cadman’s territory were definitely distinct from other places.

"We are witch-hunters, Ambo."

President Natalie took a deep breath.

Her weary eyes sparkled with firmness, and she said:

"Regardless of whether this is a command from a vampire or not, the real situation is that the city is experiencing ghoul riots. Every witch-hunter has pledged an oath to Avalon upon completing their hunting trial.

It is our duty and mission to cleanse the filth and evil of the world!

As long as our people still recognize this witch-hunter oath, they have every reason to return to Crimson Castle with us tonight. There are too many evils for them to hunt.

We...

We, the ones who have been rejected by society and the kingdom for a decade, have to be proactive and reintegrate into our new home, and tonight’s incident is a perfect opportunity.

When it comes to dealing with ghouls and resentful spirits, we are the real experts!"

"Yeah, you’re right."

Miss Ambo grinned.

She agreed with what Natalie said. Winning against ghouls and utilizing various factors to eliminate them with minimal damage were two completely different concepts. This was the greatest distinction between a warrior and a hunter.

It would take a day to reach Morlan village from Crimson Castle, but with specially trained war steeds riding at full speed, Natalie and Ambo reached the complex village in just over three hours.

The last batch of the White Oak Battle Group members was living there. The village, where mass slaughters had occurred, had been renovated, and even the ghouls’ nests underground had been thoroughly cleaned and filled in.

The orderly settlement of over a thousand people was a sight to behold. Although most people were still living in tents, the rise of wooden houses in the village signified the start of its "rebirth".

When Natalie dismounted, several senior hunters who were left in the village came to greet her. They had been informed of everything happening in Crimson Castle via Old Eugene’s Thunderbolt.

Natalie thought she would need some time to persuade these "old stubborns," but to her surprise, when she and Ambo entered the area set out for tending war steeds outside the village, they saw 300 fully armed witch-hunter warriors ready for battle.

They were now placing packs of Moon Dust Explosives into their horse’s bags while artisans hurriedly made final repairs to the warriors’ weapons.

A dozen alchemists in the village hauled baskets of sword oil and potions, distributing them to the waiting warriors.

The scene was remarkably like the preparations prior to each expedition from Pioneer Fortress.

"We... we thought we were going to be scolded by you two."

Ambo expressed her surprise to the tall hunter next to her:

"Weren’t you all unwilling to serve a vampire?"

"We were unwilling, and we still are."

The young hunter, with a stern face, was saying while he adjusted the hunting knife and crossbow around his waist:
