My Players Are So Fierce – Handsome dog Frank
Chapter 555 - 191. Sewer ’Ghost’_2

Chapter 555: 191. Sewer ’Ghost’_2

Cardman City had stood for 400 years, and while the vampires had no interest in observing the living conditions of their so-called "livestock" and "food supply", they had nonetheless made a few large-scale renovations to the city’s sewer system. This has led to even more concealed "underground areas" in the already intricate system.

Murphy had heard rumors about these "old areas". It was said that even the city’s gangs dared not enter rashly, and there were terrible things hiding in there.

As it turned out, there indeed were terrifying things!

Murphy had seen them with his own eyes.

The entire dried-up sewer ruins before him were dotted with corpses of malevolent entities. The ghouls were in a pitiful state, with hardly a full corpse left.

It was as though they had been hit with heavy objects, burst into disgusting pieces upon landing.

Loud battle noises resounded from the darkness ahead, indicating someone was still combating the ghouls and resentful spirits there.

Murphy gripped the hilt of Sin, sprinted toward the noises and lightly slid into the opening below where, unsurprisingly, he saw a huge and ferocious figure, swinging a crimson broadsword as tall as himself and slaughtering the ghouls erupting from the tunnels below.

It was Kudell, the Civilian Protection Officer of the Blood Vulture Clan!

The man had been saved from the Blood Eagle Corridor earlier and placed in a camp, where he was adored by the survivors he protected. However, in just a few days, he "mysteriously disappeared". No one had seen Lord Kudel since then, with rumors circulating that he had left Transylvania.

But in truth, the mad Civilian Protection Officer had not abandoned his duties. His ferocity in battle hadn’t changed since the fight in the corridor, yet Murphy could sense the weakness in his body.

Kudell was a human knight sired by Salockdale personally. After Salockdale’s eternal silence, the blood bond’s subsequent damage had drained him to the point where he could barely exert a fifth of his normal strength.

Despite this, the weak figure still stood his ground against the horde of ghouls!

"I was wondering why the terrifying number of corpses in the sewer didn’t lead to a massive ghoul attack on the surface. I initially thought it was due to the twisted favor of fate for this wretched place. Turned out, it was because you have been forging ahead in the dark for our sake.

Lord Kudell, salute to you!"

Murphy shouted aloud.

With the necessity of evil whizzing in the air like a shadowy sword, plunging into the battlefield, Murphy unsheathed the Frost Fang Blade and glided down. Dark Step was activated, Group Death’s Grasp was cast, and his swordsmanship transformed into the most brutal and savage form that is ideal for group combat – the "Wolf’s Kiss".

That was advanced swordsmanship of the Wolf Poison Clan, taught to Lord Murphy by the "Master Swordsmanship Trainer".

He charged into the battlefield below from a different direction, effectively relieving Kudell’s pressure.

The two vampires swiftly launched a counterattack on the evil creatures emerging from below, occupying all five ghoul-emerging tunnels and Devil destroyed them with his explosives. Considering his skilled movements, it must not be his first time doing this.

"After you left the camp, have you been fighting here all along to protect the city on the surface?"

Murphy sheathed his sword, and took back the Necessity of Evil, hanging it around his waist. He spoke in a low voice, but Kudell reacted coldly, not even bothering to say a word to Murphy.

He picked up his bloody crimson broadsword, turned around, and walked away.

"Hey!"

Murphy called out.

The Crimson Knight stopped, and croaked:

"Scram! Vampire, don’t bother me, I’m doing my duty."

"Hmm, I suppose you still despise the Blood Vulture Clan, enough so that after a hundred years of living under the Night’s Embrace, you still curse your fate. Your yearning to become a real human far exceeds your desire to leverage the power the Night’s Embrace granted you."

Murphy chuckled.

He had learned of Lord Kudell’s life history from the young lady earlier; this man’s disdain for vampires was pretty apparent under the surface. He had taken a hit on his consciousness in the Blood Eagle Corridor due to the chaos aura from the Subspace. It was evident that he had no intentions of communicating further with Murphy.

"Swipe."

A sweep of biological detection landed on the Crimson Knight:

Name: [Nantes Ranger & Blood Vulture Civic Protection Officer] Kudell·Feodor·Xavier·Lesenbrla

Rank: Level 30·Silver Body·Elite Template

Occupation: Level 20 Dark Night Swordsman/Level 15 Classic Holy Grail Knight/Senior Horseman

Status: Bloodline Contract Damaged·Extremely Weak·Subspace Invasion·Mental Confusion·Iron Will

Assessment: Neutral·No Threat

"Bang"

Upon sensing that Murphy had observed him with his scout skill, the irate Kudell turned around and smashed the crimson broadsword in his hand to the ground. His sharp eyes, hidden beneath the vulture mask, glared at Murphy as if ready to fight at the slightest provocation.

"I bear no ill will, but I must assess your situation to administer the right remedy."

Murphy raised his hands.

Then, under Kudell’s gaze, he took out a small jar of Source Blood from his spiritual energy pack and tossed it over, saying,

"Drink this. It will permanently and completely sever Salockdale’s influence on you. It might even help clear your confused mind. Don’t worry, I have no intention of interrupting your noble defence of the city.

I know you’re fulfilling your duty, and I greatly admire everyone who stays true to their responsibilities. When you’re fully healed, I have a matter to discuss with you."

Kudell ignored Murphy’s words.

He twisted the lid off the Source Blood jar, took a sniff under his nose, then looked at Murphy with a peculiar gaze before tossing back the life-preserving liquid he desperately needed.

The Source Blood’s cleansing effect on the bloodline contract allowed Kudell’s shattered body to swiftly regain its strength. Although the permanent loss of life limit due to the death of a senior could not be replenished, mere blood loss was not too hard for a powerful and exceptional Civilian Protection Officer like him to handle.

His power derives from hundreds of years of battle experience, not simply the Midnight Blessing.

Several minutes later, Kudell reopened his eyes.

The healed bloodline contract allowed him to quickly return to his peak strength, and his first drink of Source Blood gave him a greater boost than before.

"Speak."

The Civilian Protection Officer croaked,

"What do you want to talk about? If you want me to join the Blood Vultures, dream on! I won’t let the dog collar be put around my neck a second time!"

"No, I have no intention of that."

Murphy waved his hand, saying,

"I just want to invite you to continue serving as the Civilian Protection Officer of Crimson Castle. If you’re interested, you can return to the surface and receive your appointment decree from Baroness Milian. Also, you might have noticed that the warriors under my command are cleaning up the filth in the upper part of the sewer.

Some of them are humans who’ve lived lives like yours. They’re also defending this city. Hence, I hope that you can lend them a hand when you run into them,

and perhaps give them some pointers on their shabby martial skills.

They’re all hill people from the Saxon Region, and their language is hard to understand. So you’ll need this to communicate with and give them orders within their abilities.

I am unsure of how many people have died in the sewer.

But I believe the number of ghouls that are currently transforming is terrifying. Just you alone can’t save the city.

You need assistants.

Or in the terminology of the knights, you need a group of brave escorts.

I’m presenting them to you for your picking. I trust you understand this is a necessity, not just for stabilizing the rule of the Blood Vulture Clan. With that, I won’t disturb your duties further, Officer.

May your hunt today be enjoyable."

In the darkness, Murphy bowed elegantly in farewell. Under Kudell’s watchful gaze, the peculiar young vampire, who posed a different kind of threat despite being only of Black Iron Rank, turned and disappeared at ghost-like speed into the outlet of the lower sewer.

Only after confirming that Murphy’s presence had completely disappeared did the Protection Officer shoulder his heavy sword and head towards the other part of the darkness.

When the catastrophe hit, too many had sought refuge in the sewers. However, the ruthless and vicious spiritual energy of the Star Realm had not spared them mercifully. Too many had died in this dark place far from the sunlight, and it seemed worse evil spirits were hidden in the rotting crypts underground unbeknownst to anyone.

The number of ghouls and resentful spirits here was so large that it was impossible to kill them all...

This was obviously not normal!

Perhaps, he really does need some help?
