Chapter 506: 175. God, your servant has finally returned to your side_1

"Major, we have confirmed that the fighting in the combat area has concluded! The Transian people retreated from the border of East Prussia before dawn and cleaned up the battlefield. They burned the corpses very thoroughly, even saving us the trouble of collecting bodies for the hounds of Circle Tower."

In the morning of the second day, Major Fraser, the head of intelligence at Pioneer Fortress, quickly received a report from the dispatched scouts, informing him through the Calculating Pearl that last night’s battle had ended.

From the look of it, the White Oak Battle Group had narrowly escaped a disaster.

That was a relief to the Major.

However, before he could even start outlining his action report, another scout delivered news that robbed him of any appetite for breakfast.

"Major, the war fog spread by the Circle Tower Psychics has completely dissipated, but we found something the Transian people left behind at the border!"

The scout’s tone of voice was very strange.

It sounded as though he had been somewhat startled, something that left Major Fraser somewhat surprised. Scouts from the Exploration Corps were some of the best warriors who rarely showed such emotional fluctuations.

"Activate the projection of the Calculating Pearl, I want to see this with my own eyes."

The Major sent a message over and, after a brief interval, a blurred long-distance psychic projection was brought online. The Moment the scout adjusted the angle, an object that made the Major’s scalp tingle appeared before his eyes.

Human heads!

An entire tower of 600 human heads had been piled up, a broken stele nearby was inscribed with a line of text written in fresh blood in Transian language:

"We dedicate these glorious deaths to the Mother of the Night! The Hand of Crimson always repays its debt in kind!"

"This..."

Major Fraser took a deep breath.

He realized that this message left by Earl Cardman for Circle Tower was also a blunt and rudimentary "declaration of war".

Circle Tower was responsible for the nearly extinct Blood Vulture Clan in Cardman City, so the vampires retaliated in kind. In just one night, they wiped out the Hunting Squad of Circle Tower and even left behind this "fallen piece of art" that had gone beyond normal war practices.

This was not a declaration of the end.

This was the beginning of a new cycle of hatred...

"Ah, Transian really is a breeding ground for both barbarians and vampires! The common factor among these two is that neither succumbs to violence and neither is pleasant!"

Major Fraser rubbed his temples with a headache.

He knew that once his war report was handed in, it would cause a sensation. Considering that this event may be seen as a provocation from Transian to Golden Flower Kingdom, the Major made up his mind to speak privately with his junior sister, who had been promoted to Crimson Regent, before writing the report.

As the ear and eye of the King, he needed to ascertain the true intentions of the opponent’s Lord, as well as confirm General Loren’s future development plan for the White Oak Battle Group in Transian.

The General was someone who valued relationships.

If he could receive news that the offspring and remaining followers of his old friend were safe, the General’s guilt for "neglecting duty" would surely lessen significantly.

Thinking so, the Major activated the Psychic Communication Amplifier before him and sent a message to Baroness Milian.

---

"Oh yeah! I’ve got the blueprint for the ’Iron Hammer Guard’!"

In the Blood Eagle Corridor of Crimson Castle, Little Wei Ming held up the manufacturing diagram for the weapon and cheered loudly.

This was her "special reward" for a certain task.

Apart from this weapon diagram transferred by Major Fraser through the Battalion Commander Natalie, Little Wei Ming also received a profession-related tip from Mother Mary Ann.

"The badass shotgun granny tells me that only the dwarf and halfling weapon makers can create such complex firearms."

Little Wei Ming cherished the schematic she had in her hands, and turned to Orchid who was gracefully sipping her vampire tea:

"Do you think we should find if there are any dwarfs here?"

"Don’t bother."

Orchid was savoring the unique taste of the red tea and stated to her friend in the dignified manner of a seasoned traveler:

"I asked an NPC, there have been no dwarfs or halflings in Transian for a hundred years. This place is a ghost town. Instead of looking for them at this juncture, I’d suggest switching to an engineering side-job and making it yourself."

"Ah? Make it myself-ah!"

Little Wei Ming scratched her head, pulling a face:

"But this gun requires Master-level Engineering to make, how long would I have to train before I can make it? Besides, we don’t have an Engineering trainer here."

"We didn’t before, but we do now."

Lumina, who was humming a tune while cleaning her beloved instrument across the table, said to Little Wei Ming:

"Mother Mary Ann, who you were chatting with just now, is a gunsmith. I heard Bull Bull say that he saw her hand-rolling a gun barrel in Pioneer Fortress.

However, you might need some personal reputation to learn Engineering from her, and just because your blueprint says it requires Master-level Engineering to craft a finely made Iron Hammer Guard doesn’t mean an apprentice can’t make one.

At most, the quality would decrease.

At most, it would be a plain white weapon with no additional attributes, but even then, such a high-end weapon should be far superior to the precise firearm you’re currently able to find, right?"
