Ambo gave a dazzling smile and saluted her former captain in the tradition of Psychic Hunters. She took a deep breath and said:
"Goodbye, Transylvania!"
"Yeah, goodbye Transylvania."
Natalie nodded.
She watched Ambo and the other scouts ride past the side gate of the Pioneer Fortress, a place usually guarded by soldiers and gendarmes, yet deserted today.
Natalie looked back towards the main fortress.
On the second, third, and highest floors, almost all the commanders of the Exploration Corps who had fought side by side with the Witch Hunters over the past decade were there.
In the past, these men looked down on Witch Hunters, due to the severity of the impact caused by Avalon Church’s betrayal.
But after the war, seeing their comrades again persecuted by the Circle Tower, even the most arrogant officers felt sympathy and couldn’t bear it.
This is a military camp.
We are all soldiers!
Soldiers are different from civilians. Even if we dislike each other, if we live together in the same camp and eat from the same pot, we are comrades-in-arms! Bullying one is like bullying us all.
Although the military rules prevent them from directly confronting the Circle Tower, turning a blind eye at this point is possible.
What’s more, if General Loren turns a blind eye, which officer dares to rebel?
"Hey!"
As Natalie mounted her horse, preparing to join the main force of the White Oak Battle Group, the quartermaster of the Exploration Corps shouted after her.
This man, grim-faced and stingy even with bullets, started a conversation in a gloomy tone:
"The Black Disaster is approaching. Will we see you on the battlefield against the Wolf People?"
"What? Going to miss us?"
Natalie joked, to which the quartermaster responded with a cold sneer:
"Of course, we’ll miss you. Where’d we get such good cannon fodder? I heard my drinking buddy, Old Feinock, is your father? Why didn’t you mention it earlier?"
Natalie remained silent.
The quartermaster grumbled something under his breath, then threw an old psychic bag to Natalie. He took out a flask and slyly took a drink, saying:
"That’s something I lost to your father last time. He left in a hurry and didn’t have time to collect it. It’ll come in handy for you. I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I can tell you Old Feinock is the best man I’ve ever met.
Make him proud, girl."
Having said this, the old man turned and swaggered off. Natalie, on her horse, opened the psychic bag.
Inside was a set of knight’s armor.
Not the sacred oak armor used by the White Knight, but ordinary style steel armor of excellent quality.
However, this was a ladies’ suit of armor, so the old quartermaster had certainly lied earlier.
It was a parting gift for Natalie, perhaps out of regard for his old drinking buddy or the ten years of combat they shared.
Natalie looked up at the Pioneer Fortress one last time.
She used to hate it here because it represented a bleak past and a hopeless future.
But now, on the verge of leaving, she suddenly felt a shred of human warmth in this stern military place.
"Thank you," she whispered to the air before straightening up, turning her horse around, and heading to the Witch Hunters’ quarters.

"I think we should meet the Witch Hunters at Andma Hills...."
Maxim, fully armed and standing beside Morphy, looked at the coming dusk and said in a low voice:
"Isn’t this a bit too provocative?"
"Provocative? Aren’t we on the land of Andma Hills? Mark, aren’t we within the borders of Transylvania? This is our territory, we can go wherever we want, and, I haven’t seen anyone crossing the border."
Morphy replied without turning his head.
Loyal Maxim glanced at the two boundary pillars erected by the Exploration Corps less than a hundred meters in front of him.
Then he looked back at the group of aggressive players behind him, the nearly a hundred fully armed veterans from the Cardman’s Self-Defense Army, and the two psychics of the Blood Vulture Clan maintaining the portals in the distance for more soldiers to come through.
He was silent for a moment but did not make any further comment.
Although the grand spectacle was a little different from the "covert reception" he had imagined, Sir Morphy must have his reasons. He would obey orders; nothing else mattered!
"Transylvanian forces! Back off!"
From behind the boundary pillars a hundred meters away, several men dressed in black Psychic Master gowns rushed on horseback. They stopped outside the pillars and used Psychic Spells to amplify their voices.
"The Psychic Hunter Corps of the Circle Tower is on official duty! Do not interfere!"
"Well, it looks like the Circle Tower’s stray dogs are barking. Seems like they plan to ambush the Witch Hunters in this area. The trap has been set and they hope to frighten me, a vampire crawled back from the hell of Cardman, by mentioning the name of the Circle Tower?"
Morphy snorted.
He glanced sideways. The expressionless Blood Vulture Duke Cui Si didn’t respond, but stretched out her left hand and clasped it forward. The terrifying crimson psychic power coiled around it like shadowy serpents.
Under her control, the Psychics at the front were effortlessly lifted into the air, both horse and man. Then, as Cui Si closed her fingers and rubbed them together, it was as if flour bags had suddenly burst in the air.
Blood and flesh flew all around, lives snuffed out in an instant.
All the while, Cui Si hadn’t said a word, and the men on the other side didn’t get a chance to say a second sentence before they died.
The terrifying execution scene wowed the players who had watched the cutscene, but made Morphy’s eyes narrow.
Even though it was just a simple Psychic Binding, how could its power be so great? Cui Si seemed very angry. Who had provoked her?
"The midnight promise with fresh blood, the dance of the gentleman and the lady. Oh, how romantically planned, Sir Morphy!"
Cui Si’s voice suddenly rang out in Morphy’s ears.
She clenched her hands and gritted her teeth:
"You dance with that vixen Xiani on the battlefield! If it’s not pleasing to me, I’ll crush you both!"
"???"
Morphy’s eyes widened.
Hey, hey, hey, what’s going on? Which Hunter made a random attack and misled her? Why did the hatred suddenly switch to him? He, the Count, clearly didn’t do anything! Hey, this must be a system bug, right?
