Chapter 426: 148. The local Blood Servants are really too impolite!_2

Some people were watching the players with curiosity.

This made Ayu hesitate for a moment. He muttered quietly,

"But aren’t we supposed to be doing good? After all, that bastard killed someone, and that girl just got married a few days ago..."

No sooner did he finish speaking than a young man burst out from the crowd. He stumbled toward the players, fell to his knees right in front of them, shocking everyone present.

Instinctively, they stepped back, leaving a clear area around him.

"Thank... thank you so much..."

The tearful man laid flat on the ground, thanking them incoherently. Lumina, who had witnessed the vampire’s attack the previous night, quietly explained to the other players,

"This is the husband of that poor girl."

"If you truly appreciate the warriors of Sir Morphy for avenging your poor wife, then you should pledge loyalty to the Earl!"

Miss Pailian, the woman who had been a trader before, stepped forward, her eyes gleaming as she interspersed her proposition,

"They came here under the Earl’s orders to hunt these traitors. The Earl has promised that in his domain, even vampires will not enjoy any special privileges!

You saw it yourself!

You all saw it!

The vampire we incinerated represents the will of Earl Cardman! He will kindly protect you all!

Go, go to the Crimson Castle and pledge your loyalty to him.

The Earl will protect you all, just like he decisively and bravely did last night!"

"I will definitely go."

The young man who had lost his wife wiped his tears, his voice hoarse as he declared,

"Whatever the Earl needs me to do, I will. I will definitely go."

"Excellent, the Earl indeed needs loyal people like you."

Feeling as if she had just done a perfect "preaching", Miss Pailian said.

Of course, the younger players did not mind the NPCs using their power to boost their prestige. After all, "proclaiming the majesty" was part of the administration mission. They were just discussing how well this "random event" had been executed.

Bit of a cliché though.

"Everyone knows this is part of Sir Morphy’s effort to win people’s hearts, but it would have been better if the plot was a little more reasonable."

Ayu, heading to the next village while gripping his twin blades, said discontentedly just before hopping onto a carriage,

"This situation seems like Miss Pailian staged it, and we’re just extras who weren’t even given a boxed lunch. I should’ve at least been given a drumstick for my performance."

"Well, here comes a drumstick."

As he was grumbling, Lead Dove threw a piece of leather armor at him, saying,

"This is the best piece from last night’s plunder, a finely crafted veteran level armor. I got it for you. How many more pieces do you need to get a set?"

"Emmm, shoes, a belt, and jewelry, and a ring."

Ayu quickly put on the new armor and tucked the old one into his bag, saying to Lead Dove,

"The spiritual energy armor created within the Vulture family all comes with set properties. These low-level pieces aren’t great, providing just added defense and armor, with a few useful attributes occasionally.

I would say though, if someone wants to go up against an elite to pass the Black Iron Trial, a fully-fledged veteran set is standard. If they have further aspirations, I guess they’d have to source the currently best available guard set in the game?

And they’d need to find a good weapon!

I only have one standard commander level Wing Blade I won in a draw, but my character class needs dual blades."

"We’ll have to see if killing elite vampires can drop a weapon for you. If not, we can always go back to the dungeon raid,"

Lead Dove, sitting next to Ayu, added,

"Stick Brother, who’s at the camp, went to test the new dungeon last night with some others. The dungeons are the storyline we played through, but recreated. The difficulty level is moderate and can be raided once a day; no equipment drops, but tokens do.

Three tokens can be exchanged for veteran armor from the Corridor Quartermaster. Raid daily, and in three or four days, you can assemble a set of veteran armor and weapons.

I’m guessing the instance raid will be opened in the next few days.

Stick Brother also had a look for us: you can exchange ’Veteran Badges’ from the instance raids for a standard commander level guard set.

Looks like the devs knew that the Black Iron Trial would be difficult, so this update includes armor exchange to address our equipment issue.

Whatever we need, we’ll gradually get. This crappy game is finally shaping up."

"The devs didn’t even want to include the dungeon system before."

Coo Coo Chicken, lying on the carriage floor and resting his eyes, half-heartedly remarked,

"Including dungeon raids in such a realistic game does feel a bit odd, even though the devs provided the background, saying that it’s spiritual energy conjuring past battles for novices to experience the plot.

Those guys really know how to spin things!

But, Dove, do you think after we become vampires, we can sire our own descendants like Sir Morphy did with Lady Adel?"

"I think you’re daydreaming."

Meow Meow Shark, holding his guard’s War Halberd, grinned as he kicked Coo Coo Chicken, quipping,

"Dream on. You’re thinking of Lady Adel. After turning two villages yesterday, you saw how the NPC females are modeled. I bet there aren’t many ultra-attractive NPCs like Lady Adel in all of Transylvania."
