Chapter 417: 145. Murphy, your conscience is really badly damaged! _2
Murphy waved his hand with a smile and then furrowed his brow, making Mo Your Poverty worry for a moment. After a few seconds, he heard the charismatic man reply:
"Normally, the Star Realm Scorpion Lions, which are at the top of the Star Realm food chain and naturally possess the traits of giant organisms, are impossible to tame.
Their enormous strength and proud nature do not allow them to submit to the creatures of the physical world. As far as I know, even the Elves and Frost Dwarfs, who are adept at beast taming, have no record of taming Scorpion Lions.
Not to mention the more dangerous and powerful Star Realm Scorpion Lions.
The reason this little creature is close to you now is because it hasn’t awakened its predatory instinct yet. Once it completes its first hunt, it will leave you without hesitation.
In addition, the Star Realm Scorpion Lion grows much faster in the physical world than you think. Given sufficient food, it will reach maturity in no more than half a month.
At that point, you will be dealing with a ferocious beast whose claws are bigger than your head."
"What?"
Mo Your Poverty immediately felt deflated.
He didn’t doubt that the NPC would lie to him, but from the gentle look in his eyes when he looked at the little Scorpion Lion, he knew that this fellow was definitely planning to take a risk and try.
Murphy noticed this acutely.
He laughed again, let the little Scorpion Lion chew on his finger, and then said to Mo Your Poverty:
"But as I said before, that’s the general situation. For Star Realm creatures, besides taming, there is another way to gain their loyalty. My Warrior, have you ever heard of the profession ’Summoner’?"
I just started playing the game today! Where would I have heard of it?
Are you joking, NPC?
Brother Fu complained inwardly.
But he had to pretend to listen humbly, much to Murphy’s amusement.
Murphy enjoyed fooling around with the players who were impatient but had to listen.
In this world without mobile phones, computers, or video games, playing with gamers was the only lasting entertainment for him.
"Snap"
Murphy snapped his fingers.
Moments later, his Star Realm Wolf, George, emerged from the shadows with a low whimper, glared at Meow Brother and Mo Your Poverty, and then obediently lay down at Murphy’s feet, just like a loyal dog.
The presence of the Star Realm Wolf frightened the Little Scorpion Lion, making it curl up in Murphy’s hand.
"As you can see, my Warrior, I am a Summoner who specializes in Star Realm creatures. I can teach you the professional knowledge you need to achieve Spiritual Energy resonance with this Little Scorpion Lion. Once that happens, it can become your summoned creature.
"However, you must first send it back to the Star Realm once it matured, back to its home. This way, even if it dies in battle in the physical world, it will be able to answer your call once again after it has recovered.
"However, the problem is..."
Murphy handed the Little Scorpion Lion back to Brother Fu messing with his poverty, who knew something was wrong when he heard the word "but".
He anxiously stared at Sir Morphy.
Morphy made a signature move of a certain commander, resting his chin on his crossed hands, and said to Brother Fu:
"The number of summoned creatures you can bind during your novice period as a Summoner is limited, and a dangerous beast like the Star Realm Scorpion Lion will undoubtedly take up all your summoning slots. This means you will lose a variety of powers as a Summoner. You should have a clear understanding of your career prospects and be prepared for the fact that you will be severely weakened during the novice period.
"Secondly, to ensure a smooth transition into becoming a Summoner, you need to prepare some rare materials to establish the initial bonding contract with the Little Scorpion Lion."
"These materials can all be found in Transylvania.
"The only problem is, they’re scarce, and scarcity means expensive..."
"Money is not an issue! Sir."
Mo Your Poverty saw hope for petting the Scorpion Lion, and immediately said happily, beating his chest:
"Just be at ease, I will find these materials as quickly as possible."
"Hmm, it seems you’re a successful person with considerable family wealth back in your hometown, considering your disdain for money, my Warrior. However, you are forgetting that this is a different world,"
Morphy gently reminded him:
"I can hear the sad jingling of the poor three copper coins in your pocket when you walk, that sad sound is a testament of your financial state here as a poor man. So, I suggest you ask your companions for help.
"Also, you need to assemble these materials as quickly as possible.
"Considering the growth rate of the Little Scorpion Lion, it will start its first hunt soon."
"I’ll go and find them right away!"
Overwhelmed by urgency, Brother Fu grabbed the list handed to him by Murphy and ran off, activating a profession quest called "Summoner Trial".
Murphy wasn’t one to hand out quests at random.
He had confirmed that Little Brother Fu had a Thought stat of 7, as well as the two character perks of "Agnostic" and "Curious"; these fulfilled the criteria to be a Summoner.
Watching as Mo Your Poverty ran off, he nodded in satisfaction, thinking to himself that he now had the materials to make his Star Realm Beast Tamer’s hunting whip.
Becoming an apprentice Summoner doesn’t require any kind of trial!
Giving him Cui Si’s previous handbook to read for a day or two should do the trick, but initiating an apprenticeship requires some form of tribute, doesn’t it?
