Chapter 388: 135. Players hotly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of vampires_2

Here’s my take.

There’s no need to discuss the advantage of the vampire race further, with their impressive initial racial values, ability to fly, night enhancement, and special career paths and skill trees, all of these make for a very potent gameplay style.

But you also have to see the huge disadvantages of this race.

Ayu just mentioned the daytime curse as one aspect.

Even if you forfeit he daytime gaming times, you’re guaranteed the night, your ultimate home court advantage. Under the existing race data we have, players at similar levels absolutely cannot beat a vampire of the same rank at night.

So, the distinctions between day and night are, in my opinion, the least worth discussing.

After all, there must be sacrifices to achieve balance.

What I want to talk about are the last two of the six racial talents of the vampire – the "Hermit Blood Tribe" and the "Eternal Sinful Descendants". These seem to only decrease charm and affect reputation accumulation, right?

That’s not actually the case!

Dig deeper, and you’ll understand that these two traits are where the worst problems of the vampire race lie.

Wumeioge’s lengthy post ignited the interest of players in the other threads. Under their urging, Wumeioge, waiting for his flight at the airport, spent a few minutes to write down everything he wanted to say on his phone.

Meow King: [Let’s start with Charm. This attribute is easily overlooked at this early stage of the game as it seems less significant than the other five attributes. But this attribute is a key factor in your success rate of interacting with NPCs.

For example, if we run into dwarves or elves in the future of this game, I can guarantee that human players would be able to accept quests and earn reputation from them without any problems.

But not for vampires!

Not only can they not accept quests, but they would probably end up getting beaten up by the dwarfs and the elves on sight.

We’re talking about a charm value fixed at one point here!

It’s not an exaggeration to say that they are nationally detested.

Dramatically speaking, a dog in the game probably has more than one charm point, which shows how abhorred the vampire race is in the game lore.

However, because vampire players are very unlikely to accept quests or gain reputation from foreign races, the developers have specifically set up a unique reputation system for vampire players under the "Hermit Blood Tribe" talent.

The seven vampire clans are interconnected, virtually cutting off the possibility of vampire players doing quests and gaining reputation from external sources. It’s akin to closing off and playing on their own.

But again, there is no gain without loss.

The reputation system across the seven major clans might not be any worse than those of other races. As for the lack of distinction in Transylvania, the beginner town, that difference might only come into play when the world map opens up and more reputations are unlocked?

All of these are my personal guesses based on what I have observed in the game. But different people will have different perspectives on this matter.

So in my opinion, if you love doing quests, collecting items, or aiming to achieve everything, don’t go for vampirism. It will spoil your gaming experience.

I mean you in particular, Lumina.

Everyone knows you’re an incurable elf lover. So, be strong. If you turn into a vampire, I’m guessing you’ll have to bid goodbye to your future elf friends.]

Lumina·Sun Stain: [!!! Thank you, Meow Brother. I almost didn’t resist.]

Deadly Orchid: [Meow Brother’s analysis makes a lot of sense. I translated some game text using the Calculating Pearl in the game before, and I can support Meow Brother’s guess.

The propagation of the vampire race is based on the weakening of other races, indicating the existence of an irreconcilable existential contradiction between the vampire race and all other lives.

If this were any other game, this would merely be considered part of the lore. However, in a game aiming for 100% realism, any background setting will reflect on the gaming experience itself.

We only saw the super potential of vampires previously, yet neglected their role in the real world.

The punishment from the talent "Eternal Sinful Descendants" alone is significant enough.

In this light, the advantages possessed by the vampire race seem somewhat trivial when compared to this disadvantage.]

Tiger Leopard Riders Lin: [So, based on this, the developers made a smart trade-off in terms of game balance, right? They’ve sacrificed some gaming convenience while increasing the individual strength.

In this way, on a larger scale, players need to consider a lot of issues when faced with the choice to change race.

And, after hearing Meow Brother and Orchid’s descriptions, I have a bad feeling... do you think, if the developers are going to introduce new races in the future, they will adopt the same approach? They won’t weaken the individual strengths and potentials of those superior races, but may limit the convenience of the game?]

Electronic Demon Old Qu: [Chao! That’s a real possibility now that you’ve brought it up! But as you’ve said, this limitation is based on game mechanics and does not negate the fact that vampire players still have a higher individual strength than human players.

In other words, the vampire race is actually very suitable for solo players and players who emphasize strength, right?]
