"What is this thing?"
Little Wei Ming also leaned over to examine the curious object in Sister Pomegranate’s hands. She scratched her head, sounding somewhat puzzled as she spoke:
"Perhaps, maybe, it might be a vehicle? Anyway, the description says it can carry people."
"A vehicle! The first vehicle in the game! Wow, is your luck turned on or what? Can you share some of that luck with us?"
The university students around them were dumbfounded.
Just like when everyone participated in the Atumen event, why is it that despite the same drop rate and the same method, we get junk but you pull out a Midnight?
This isn’t fair!
Just when we were feeling proud of the cool weapons we acquired, you lot are already playing with vehicles!
How are we supposed to play when you’re always one version ahead?!
This game experience is terrible!
One star!
Damn you, Dog Planner, favoring female players, huh?
Damn it, I’ll castrate myself tonight and see if you can still favor then!
"Eh! I got one!"
Just as the university students were caught up in their frustration, a startled exclamation from the Chosen Ashman suddenly filled the air.
Everyone turned around to see the Ashman holding a Gargoyle’s Heart in his hand. Unlike Sister Pomegranate’s red one, this one was black.
"Bastard! Beast! What did you get?!"
Everything descended into chaos.
They all crowded around the Ashman to see what he had. It turned out to be a "Cracked Combat Gargoyle’s Heart", something that needed an Alchemist to repair before it could be used.
It had the same effect as Sister Pomegranate’s vehicle, but Ashman’s was combat-orientated and could only carry one person but provide effective protection.
Hey, this is even more absurd!
You can fly and fight?
Are you trying to make us give up playing?!
But the good news seems to be that the game planners did not intentionally favor female players, so there’s no need to castrate... Uh, both the leader and the followers sighed in relief.
"Come on, Meow Brother, the luck of our team is up to you now!"
Seeing their companions draw such valuable items one after another, the members of the Meow Squad were itching to join. They urged Meow Brother to open the crate.
But Meow Brother’s own business was his own concern.
He had a strong ominous feeling that night that his luck would be extremely bad!
Though he didn’t know where this feeling came from, he couldn’t muster up confidence. Pushed on by his friends, Meow Brother mumbled a prayer to the god of Avalon while tremblingly reaching out to gently grab into the vortex of the Thief’s Hand.
Simultaneously, Murph narrowed his eyes while secretly making a tiny movement with his fingers behind his back.
In the next instant, a black box fell into Meow Brother’s palm.
His heart sank when he realized it wasn’t equipment or a vehicle but when he nervously opened the box, he found a slip of paper inside that read four big characters:
"Thank you for your patronage!"
"Damn!"
Meow Brother’s mental state completely shattered at the sight. He angrily threw the box onto the ground, barely holding back from cursing, "Dammit." Those standing around, the Four Heavenly Kings and his old friends, were all stunned too.
This... this... is this even fair?
"Wait! There’s something written on the back!"
Succubus Old Qu yelled out, spotting something. A furious Meow Brother quickly bent over to pick it up. Flipping the note, he discovered a hidden hint — seemingly an incomplete design for a weapon.
"Ding!"
The sound notification for a triggered task gave him a boost of spirits:
[Hidden Mission·’The Sealed Blood Vulture Relic’ Triggered!]
Mission Content:
You’ve accidentally seen this ancient weapon design, seemingly from a vampire craftsman centuries ago. It looks quite unusual. Perhaps you can take it to Sir Morphy and ask about the secret behind it.
Hint!
This is a continuous mission with the final reward being: Unknown Weapon Blueprint X1
Mission Note: My colleagues in the testing group told me that this idea sucks, but I think it’ll be interesting to include it as an easter egg in the game. After all, the drop rate for hidden items in dungeons is just 0.01‰, so only those with exceptional luck or unending bad luck could ever get them.
Even if they get it, they’d probably just have a good laugh.
After all, games should be played with smiles!
- Code S, Member of ’Real Different World’ Development Team]
"Laugh your ass off! It was an easter egg planted by the development team, that scared me to death. Wait~ Doesn’t this mean I’m extremely lucky? After all, the probability is 0.01‰."
Wumeioge complained bitterly.
Life is full of ups and downs. Leaving his five brothers behind to continue with the lottery, he cheerfully took the piece of paper to Sir Morphy. After explaining the situation, he gave it to Morphy.
The Vampire Lord looked at the four awkwardly written characters on the design with a straight face. After examining it closely while holding back his laughter, he addressed Wumeioge in an NPC tone of voice:
"This definitely looks like an ancient design. I guess it has something to do with certain spiritual weapons. Maybe you could ask our beautiful and noble Duchess. However, the Duchess of the Blood Vulture is quite busy, and it won’t be easy to get a hold of her.
Perhaps you need to prove your worth to her first."
Morphy glanced at Wumeioge’s disappointed face, decided to give him a bit of a reward. With a casual sweep of his hand, the Desire Demon Blade - Necessary Evil, which hung from his waist, rose into the air emitting a soft hum, circled around Wumeioge, and finally returned to Morphy’s hand.
He compared the spiritual blade with the design.
He asked:
"Look similar?"
Wumeioge blinked, and then understanding dawned on him. He nodded vigorously and said:
"It looks like it, it looks very much like it! So this design is actually...?"
"No, Wonder Items can’t be duplicated with current techniques. I’m guessing that this is a downgraded spiritual blade that an ancestor craftsman designed based on the Desire Demon Blade."
Morphy handed back the dusty blueprint which he had found in the corner of the Clan Leader’s weapons cache to Wumeioge and enticingly said:
"However, even a downgraded activated spiritual blade would tremendously improve your capabilities, freeing your hands. Anyway, it seems like you’re rather lucky to have obtained this, my warrior, Meow King. You shouldn’t pass up this opportunity."
"I think so too, Lord."
Wumeioge looked at the extraordinary weapon in Morphy’s hand, his eyes sparkling.
But a few minutes later, he had a sudden realization and stroked his chin with a strange look on his face.
"Damn! Was I just lured by an NPC? So, this is a test!"
Just as he was about to start complaining, he saw his five brothers walk back, looking dejected, each of them holding a weapon that was completely useless to them.
No Hands Needed to Show Off said with a sad face:
"Damn! Bro! It’s a repeat of the last tragedy. None of the things we drew are useful! We must be targeted by probability. Do we have to go to a temple and pray?
This feels rather weird..."
"Hey, I won!"
Just as he was speaking, Happy Stick in the front suddenly shouted out, waving a green Gargoyle Heart at the six men. He shouted:
"Thanks for taking the hit for me, fellas. I’ll treat you guys to dinner sometime."
"Damn! I’ve been screwed. Come over here, I’m not letting you off today!"
Wumeioge looked even more upset.
Seeing a brother riding a Ferrari was even more painful than losing money himself. Luckily, there was still a hidden mission he could complete...
But the mission from Lady Cui Si also involved opening treasure chests!
Damn!
