Cui Si stormed out of her tent, not at all pleased.

She had been conducting a critical Spiritual Energy interference experiment. She gathered her things and hurried to the collapsed Blood Eagle Corridor under Bonnie’s guard, her annoyance spilling over at having been interrupted by Maxim’s report.

The weak Cui Si couldn’t even summon her Blood Wings and therefore had to travel on foot, which obviously took time.

All of this was within Murphy’s scheme of things.

After seeing Lady Cui Si off, Maxim wastes no time in heading towards the tents where the Lord of the Paladino Knights and the three Blood Alliance Knight scouts were stationed.

Unexpectedly, by the time he arrives at their tents, they have already donned their ceremonious midnight attire, seemingly anticipating the events of the night.

"Why so surprised? Your master isn’t the only one in this world with the beauty of wisdom."

The Paladino Knight, adjusting a dew-kissed Midnight Rose on his ceremonial garb and skimming his golden, curled hair back with one hand, wore a look of great anticipation on his handsome face.

The lord of the Paladino Knights, after quickly assessing Maxim, approached him and placed a hand on his injured arm.

In a quiet voice, he said,

"Your unwavering loyalty, undeterred by the lack of a blood union, is a rare beauty in this world. But the blind loyalty of only courage without wisdom significantly diminishes your beauty."

His fingertips shimmered with crimson Spiritual Energy.

The energy seeped into Maxim’s wound, rapidly healing it under the vampire’s blood manipulation.

He said,

"You are still too far from fully freeing yourself from the ugliness for me to grant you the rose now. May you be transformed the next time we meet."

"Thank you for your guidance, sir."

Maxim respectfully bowed and thanked him, recognizing Lord Paladino’s hint.

However, the proud lord did not return the gesture.

He arrogantly ignored Maxim, flying into the night sky with his three escorts, their blood wings spread.

The wings of the Capadosians were not much different from those of other clans, short and decorative, providing only brief hovering and gliding at the Gold Stage. It was nothing like the favoured sky-dwelling Leisenblair clans.

The loyal servant looked up as they disappeared, silently laughing at their wings. Even the perfect Lord Paladino could not always look elegant, especially during his awkward flight as compared to Murphy’s graceful flight.

However, his timely reminder was well noted.

Despite his domineering arrogance, calling himself the ’proud scion’ was respectful enough to talk about unaccepted things.

To others, Lord Paladino was seen very differently from how Murphy saw him.

"Wisdom..."

Maxim thought, galloping towards the corridor,

"It’s something I’ve always lacked. I should strive to improve myself, for better serving under the honorable Murphy, and prove myself worthy of the heavy trust."

"I have to learn from my respected master, Sir Murphy."

Meanwhile, Cui Si quickly arrived at the Blood Eagle Corridor under the midnight.

Having to fly down with Bonnie’s guidance since the spiral stairs to the underground had been destroyed, and with the help of the direction of the rescue soldiers of Cardman stationed in the tunnel, Cui Si quickly reached the excavated treasure vault.

She instructed Bonnie to stay outside while she went in to check the situation.

She saw Murphy placing a queen’s crown on a desk the moment she walked in. Next to it, on a chair, lay a luxurious Duke’s cloak and a red scepter made entirely of Moon Night Crystal.

Cui Si had seen it!

It was the supreme weapon - the unique Overlord Staff that Salockdale used to flaunt his status, something Murphy had just dredged out of this shimmering pile of Gold Coins.

It wasn’t just a pretty thing!

It also served as one of the highest crystalized forms of Spiritual Energy on the continent, second only to the miraculous artifacts.

This staff, known as "Nocturne", was said to be a treasure crafted specially by an elder of the Secret Blood clan. It was also the initiation core of the city’s enchantment in Cardman City.

Unfortunately, Salockdale was a powerful midnight Sword Saint and Scarlet Hunter but not proficient in Spiritual Energy. So, something so significant only served as a symbol for him.

How smart was Cui Si?

Seeing Murphy accumulating those "terrifying" things, she quickly realized something was up. She twisted her face and attempted to flee. However, in the next moment, Murphy grabbed her wrist.
