Chapter 337: Why did you give me a yellow dress? You’re harming me! [58/60]_2

If Murphy can’t procure food and supplies before the deadly freeze sets in, his territory wouldn’t even have a chance to withstand the onslaught of the Black Disaster, let alone fend off the onslaught of the Wolf People. His own people, ridden with hunger and cold, might overthrow him even before that.

Merely thinking about these problems gave him a headache.

Luckily, he had his resourceful group of players. As a Lord and an NPC, he had to believe in the players’ wisdom in handling such situations. If he didn’t, his territory might truly be doomed.

"Smack"

Murphy opened a few small psychic boxes revealing delicate crimson rings. The Blood Vulture Clan’s emblem adorned each ring but no specific names were inscribed within them.

These rings served as "identity proofs" for the formal members of the Blood Vulture Clan. Every clan has similar objects, rumored to be made by the "Adviser and Recorder", a sect of the vampire race known as the Blood Descendant Clan. They were distributed once every three hundred years for clan expansion.

Only those wearing the Blood Vulture signet ring would be recognized as formal family members.

What?

Are you asking why Murphy didn’t have one before?

With his previous identity and status, it would be utterly absurd for him to possess his own signet ring.

Cui Si’s elder signet was confiscated over a hundred years ago. As Cui Si’s Blood Descendant, Murphy was just a peripheral figure in theory and wasn’t listed as a formal member of the Blood Vulture Clan.

Vampires like Murphy were quite common, because the Blood Descendant Clan only supplied a limited amount of clan blood imprints every three hundred years. It was clearly a method to control the numbers of the vampire population to prevent large-scale conflicts with other races.

However, each clan unofficially harbored many "black households" like Murphy’s. The age-old rules related to the "Seclusion Codex" have largely lost their practical relevance nowadays.

Nearly 300 rings were contained within the box in front of Murphy.

He picked up one and examined it closely. The psychic Mithril-made ring could be adjusted according to finger size. A Blood Crystal Stone was delicately inlaid on it, and if one looked closely, they could see the emblem of a winged Blood Vulture reflected in the stone.

It looked utterly mystical.

This represented a transcendent race in the world and the accumulation of a civilization that had persisted for thousands of years.

However, the Blood Vulture Clan was now extinct.

Salockdale sacrificed more than ten thousand elite clan members to manufacture a divine monster in Subspace. More than ten thousand others were swept, along with 150,000 people of Cardman City, into the Star Realm due to the tear in reality.

The less than one-tenth of survivors who managed to live have gone back into hiding, and wouldn’t dare to peek out until they are sure of their safety and receive a summons.

Murphy had no intention of recruiting these hiding members.

He wished they would never reappear to cause him trouble, perhaps... he should "discuss" this matter with the Witch Hunters in regard to the commission and reward.

Murphy squinted his eyes, then smirked, tossing the ring in his hand to Maxim behind him.

Catching the ring filled Maxim with deep sentiment.

He never dared to hope for such a thing in the past, but seeing a handful of rings in Master Murphy’s hand, Maxim felt a sense of surrealism. It wasn’t until this moment that he finally confirmed that his great Master Murphy had obtained the power of a clan!

And he achieved it in less than a month!

"Master Murphy, what’s...next?"

Maxim, clutching the ring in his hand, couldn’t help but ask:

"What I mean is...are you going to crown yourself as the Blood Vulture Duke?"

"Hmm? Why would you have such a strange idea?"

Murphy, who was pulling out several luxurious vampire swords that could undoubtedly be dubbed divine weapons from a pile of gold coins, looked at Maxim in surprise. He toyed with the psychic weapons in his hand, the lowest of which were of Commander level craftsmanship. Among them was a psychic staff of exaggerated craftsmanship that was of Unique Lord level.

These were the highest-grade weapons that could appear in the mortal world, just a step short of being classified as divine weapons.

Unfortunately, these items all had exaggerated level restrictions.

Even Murphy himself couldn’t use them, let alone his own players. They were likely reserved for the absolute core members of the clan, or even backup weapons for Salockdale himself.

Murphy tossed these unique divine weapons with yellow descriptions into his psychic bag, casually saying:

"That position isn’t up to me yet. Miss Phemys is still around. Lord Pa Ying’s summons to inquire about the situation has already hinted at his consideration of Blood Vulture clan’s lineage."

"As long as she’s dead, there’s no problem!"

Maxim said coldly:

"You wouldn’t even need to get your hands dirty. Your hands are too noble to be stained with such blood. Adel and I can arrange everything, as long as you say the word."

Murphy did not respond.

Here again, he felt Maxim’s loyalty.

It was almost too good to be true, but somewhat ill-timed.

"Help me gather the weapons and armors here, along with the rare psychic jewelry. You guys keep them for future use, or to reward our brave warriors later. For their rewards this time, we can take some from the recently discovered armory of the Clan Leader’s personal guards. Also, you need to do a tally and report to me afterward."
