Chapter 287: 101. When you stand in front of the gates of Hell...【41/60】_3
This vampire lord showed no interest in physically draining human blood.
Clearly, he was a high-class vampire disinterested in lowly tastes and could even pass as a qualified capitalist.
"It’s you!"
Murphy’s eyes brightened.
It seemed that both the Elite Proof and the Treasure-stealing Goblins’ achievements could be completed simultaneously, though there would be a small price to pay.
Without any hesitation, as his scouting technique was detected and the scarlet crossbow was raised, Murphy dashed in beside Zack using a sequence of swift movements. At that moment, he fully activated the Tomb Emblem on his wrist.
Group · Death’s Grasp released!
Death’s Psychic Power chillingly seized five manic vampires, including Zack, off the ground. In a swift attack, Murphy severed the legs of two skinny guards, then with a blood claw he ripped out the heart of a third, weakened vampire. His Star Realm Wolf joined in, ferociously tearing at the neck of another restrained target.
After executing this sequence of attacks, Murphy didn’t overreach but instead retreated.
He precisely calculated the remaining death psychic energy in his Tomb Emblem, the energy left was enough for two more such attacks, providing him with more certainty.
The Zack in front of him was clearly a vampire adept at long-range attacks. His awkward reaction in melee combat assured Murphy that he could overtake him.
Ah, isn’t that the nature of capitalists?
They are bully-weaklings; what’s more, Murphy had a loyal dog to help him!
But what of it?
Is it all about luck and scavenging at the start?
Fifteen minutes later, when the old knight arrived at the left corridor with his hammer shield, he saw Murphy, protected by four resentful spirits with hands folded at his back, humming a strange song as he walked out of a mysterious building that was closing.
A crimson night bat crossbow hung from his waist, and he twirled an exquisite seal in his hand. The Star Realm Wolf on his feet wore an extravagant blood-spiked collar, a high-level spiritual-energy item.
Not far behind him, a unique fat vampire’s fading statue still held its pleads for mercy. But the cruel wound at his heart symbolized Murphy’s ruthless execution.
Soon, the four resentful spirits summoned by the sword guard’s professional power disappeared in the cold air as the fight ended.
"You seem in a good mood. Any good news?"
The old knight asked. Murphy pointed at the closing door of the treasure vault behind him and said,
"I found the Blood Vulture Clan’s family treasury, there’s plenty of good stuff inside. Would you like a share? One-fifth! I can’t offer more."
"Money and treasure are useless to me."
The old knight shook his head and said,
"Since the area is cleared, we should move on. However, I underestimated you. Your clan underestimated you. Murphy, does your senior Cui Si know about these powers you’ve concealed, which surpass most of your brethren?"
"No, in her eyes, I’m just a lucky but weak outcast."
Murphy shrugged, his tone mysteriously nonchalant, saying,
"I haven’t told her yet. I wouldn’t want to scare her. She’s fragile now and should be protected, not burdened. So I could even share more treasures with you. Please help me keep this a secret."
Old Knight ignored the vampire’s joke.
He turned around and walked briskly to the door at the end of the corridor. Opening it would lead them to the location of the Blood Vulture Sanctuary. He and Murphy held the edges of the heavy door, one on each side. With much effort, they managed to pull it open a crack.
The next second, a terrifying and frenzied spiritual energy surged out from it.
It was not the Star Realm energy they had anticipated!
Far from it!
That was an ancient aura, wilder and more chaotic than the Star-Realm energy by more than ten times!
The old knight exposed to the spiritual wind paled considerably. His oak armor flashed various colors of spiritual protection like a LED marquee, whereas the unprotected Murphy fared worse. Like being hit by a sledgehammer, he stumbled to the ground with a muffled groan.
The Star Realm Wolf suffered the worst fate. With a howl, it was banished back to the Star Realm.
It didn’t die.
But the spiritual energy at hand dispelled it!
"Boom!"
Old Feinock desperately closed the door, stopping that damned, horrific aura from surging out anymore.
He leaned on the door, catching his breath, shaking his head again and again, even slapping his helmet trying to wake himself from the hallucinations. The light points on his divine oak armor faded away gradually, suggesting that the immediate danger had passed.
In the silent corridor, amidst the heavy breathing of both men, Murphy rubbed his headache-inducing head and looked up at the old knight.
He asked,
"What... what was that? It seemed like the stars in the sky were smiling at me? The dark nebula was whispering to me?"
The old knight glanced at him.
The golden powerhouse shook nervously, put his dwarf pipe in his mouth, and after three failed attempts to light the tobacco with his finger, he finally managed to light it on his fourth try.
"Damn it! Energy fluctuations from the Star Realm Tear concealed the truth hidden deep underground. I knew that what occurred in Cardman City wasn’t as simple as it appeared on the surface. We’ve been used! The Golden Flower Kingdom and General Loren have been used!
This is their true objective.
A subspace crack being opened in the physical world using the Blood Vulture Sanctuary as a beacon... even, even Salockdale was just a sacrifice!"
With the help of the tobacco, Old Feinock calmed down. He vigorously rubbed his forehead and said in a low voice,
"Murphy, we’re in trouble!"
Meanwhile, in a secret chamber beneath the complex corridor structure, Maxim and Lady Adel guarded an ancient psychic energy device rising from the ground, swords at the ready, as Natalie and her team advanced.
The Grey-haired Demon Hunting Princess slowly drew her unique silver war sword from her waist, her piercing voice calling out,
"I knew you bloodsuckers couldn’t be trusted! Step away! Now!"
Maxim and Lady Adel shared a glance, then responded to the coercion with action - they raised their weapons while the four witch-hunters on the other side unsheathed their blades.
The two parties clashed without exchange.
Just as all tales of witch hunters and heretics go, lies can’t cover the truth, only swords make sense to both sides.
